Michael Fishbach, co-founder of The Great Whale Conservancy (GWC), narrates his encounter with a young humpback whale entangled in a fishing net. His group found the young whale entangled in a fishing net and while he and his friends were trying to free the whale, his wife was filming the whole event. Whales do know how to show appreciation by treating them with a magnificent spectacle after it was finally freed.

Truly awesome!

Imagine the emotions running through the crew...
I am grateful to have watched this video.

Needed a break from all the doom and gloom to see that there are still those...
Who care.

The whale's reaction clearly shows that they do know if they are being helped or being hunted. They will wholeheartedly showboat if they know that friends are watching them. Imagine if there are no whale hunters, we will see a lot of whales showboating like that. That will be a great spectacle to see!

Amazing, it would have been a touching video just to see them rescue a life in need of help, but to see the way it responded after it was free just completely made my day. These people will always have something they can be proud of for the rest of their lives, good for them.

So did I, teary eyed. Just shows somewhere in this world there is some humanity left, absolutely brilliant. Just shows whales are not that dangerous now are they.

This video made me both supremely happy, but then deeply sad. So much so that at the moment I am somewhat of a blubbering mess.

Why?

Look what we've allowed them to do to our oceans. Look what we ourselves do. Moments like these are, unfortunately, few and far between.

These beautiful creatures are hunted. Did you all see the gratitude that whale showed? That, people, is proof that these creatures could even be considered sentient beings, like ourselves.

I'm so angry from the deception.

Next time I hope they take more than one knife.
