Half a year after the shooting of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.), the Obama administration is set to release a series of reforms to the current gun law, White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said on Thursday.
But in a nod to the difficulties of getting legislation through a Republican-run House of Representatives, only executive orders or administrative actions -- and not an actual bill -- are expected to be handed to Congress.
When the recommendations do come, it will represent the most comprehensive move on the gun control front from this administration to date.

Thanks for bringing this up.
My questions are:
What measures are planned to be enacted through executive actions?
Can these executive actions be challenged in court?
Spokesman Jay Carney said that the new steps would be made public "in the near future." He didn't offer details, but people involved in talks at the Justice Department to craft the new measures said they expected to see something in the next several weeks.
On Friday, the group Mayors Against Illegal Guns, headed by Boston Mayor Thomas Menino and New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, sent Obama a letter calling him to act.

I feel like I need to get out of America ASAP!
I can't believe things have gotten so bad in the last 10 years!
(is it our fault for voting? it seems like our votes don't count anyway)
I would rather us band together and stop all this somehow, BUT HOW DO WE DO IT??edit on 8-7-2011 by MrEuphoric1 because: (no reason given)
i think i can live with that, i would not what to sell my fire arm to a drug user/dealer would you? and give one good reason what you need a 32 round clip for a hand gun, 3 should be enough for any one but then yes you have the right but is it really necessary ? would 13 +1 be not enough and how do you draw it from your holster? just asking, yes a 100 rounds is fun to shoot, but then 10, 10 round clips are not that hard to load as to one 100 round clip.
The end result, one source close to the discussions said, was a package of reforms "not huge in scope." They are largely expected to mirror the topics covered in the president's op-ed. Gun control advocates have pushed for more, including legislation that would limit the size of magazines -- such as the 32-round clip that Giffords' shooter used -- or a bill that would force private sellers to conduct background checks at gun shows -- which was pushed in the wake of the Virginia Tech shooting
At least do it through legislation if you are going to do it.
