Read the post about "Brain Washing" -- West Point, Naval Academy, boot camp, etc all do that to their people --- young minds to "do it for you r country" --- Do what 50 year olds would never do --- They are the ones giving the orders though -- For who and what? WW1, WWII, different than going into places for basically to secure "stuff for our Rich", power for our few - while young men die and get maimed forever!

Iraq, Afghanistan, Vietnam, Libya, now Sudan --- money and power. What don't we ever go into mid and lower Africa where millions have been slaughtered and tortured by animal leaders over the years --- No money or power to be had there - thats why ----

Many people go into military for 2 basic reasons: good benefits and pensions, and "secure job" and true believers, they do what they are told, no matter who or what gets hurt or is involved --- and if you say or try to be honest while there --- you are labeled and tried as a traitor -- in other words "stuck".

Lots of good people doing the bidding of the few old boy networks bidding.

First, I want to thank you for your service, dedication and sacrifice. I myself spent 13 years in the Navy and have been on 6 combat deployments, all to the Persian Gulf, and I was honorably discharged at the end of my obligated service in 2009. It has been my experience on ATS that most people begrudge the upper chain of command and not the individuals serving under them. There are those that do hate military members and would call you a baby killer, but they are few and far between, so I wouldn't let them get to you if I were you, they are just trolling if you ask me.

Having said all of that, can you honestly tell me how your service, as well as the service of anyone else in OEF/OIF (myself included) has preserved, protected or defended the American way of life, the freedom of Americans and the US Constitution? Was any of the three in jeopardy if we hadn't invaded Iraq? I personally don't think so. I would argue that every man and woman that has died in combat since WW2 has died in vain, because the conflicts they were killed in were illegal wars, never declared by Congress. From Vietnam to the first gulf war, all the way to where we are right now are nothing but wars being fought for corporations. The mission of our military is not to "Nation Build". Their mission is not to "bring democracy" to other nations. The founders of our country believed that Democracy is the road to Socialism, which is why we were founded as a Republic... so why do we attempt to force Democracy on others?

I certainly mean no disrespect to those that have died... to this day I literally shed a tear every time I hear of a service member dying abroad, because I know that their death was in vain, and I know that they had no idea of who they truly served... because it sure as hell wasn't the American people or the Constitution, contrary to what they believed I'm sure.

Let me ask you a few questions, as an Army Officer. If given the order to confiscate guns from the American public would you follow it? Would you in turn give that same order to those under your command? Would you wear the UN uniform and swear allegiance to the UN charter if ordered, or would you order someone else to? Do you recognize what or who a DOMESTIC enemy is to the Constitution? If not you, then do you know any Officers that would do any of those things? If I were under the command of an officer that gave me the order to confiscate guns, or to round people up, I would make it my duty to see to it that that is the last order that officer ever gave, if you know what I mean. I welcome your thoughts...

All personal convictions, beliefs, and 1st amendment rights aside…. What in the HELL gives ANY of you the PERCEIVED AUTHORITY to assassinate this man’s character, his motives, demean his intelligence, or even suggest that he is a criminal?

The OP listed his “Rants” about some of the [snip] he’d seen here on ATS, some of which was directed at him personally. He then followed up with some pretty simple questions regarding why he was treated this way.
His point was simple….Why would anyone remain on this site, offer inside information, personal experiences, participate in the discussion of global events, share knowledge of specific issues, or even offer simple opinions when they are met with such belligerence and indignation?

OK, I get it! It’s a public forum! Everyone has the “RIGHT” to their opinions, thought’s, theories, and even accusations. Sure, anyone can point out the bad things our governments do, and then try to tie all the strings together to try and prove he’s a participant. Sure, you can use ATS as a means to simply vent every damn frustration you feel about the things you see going on and then barf out your indignation on everyone else. Sure, maybe the poster should have “Thicker Skin”, as some have replied, and maybe that is true for everyone on this site.

Some of you post like you think this site’s slogan is Deny Civility, Deny Intelligence, Deny Kindness, Deny The Obvious, Deny Gravity, Deny Opinions, Deny Denials, etc, etc, etc….. The actual slogan is “Deny Ignorance!” Some of you need to look up the definition of “Ignorance” before you attempt another post on this site.

Your point is well taken Birddog26! Just know that there are some on this site that actually have more than just fuzz on their almonds.

Are you kidding. What is with all of the threads about military moving into major cities right now to put everyone in camps. I come out and say that there are units that are rotating from OEF and OIF/New Dawn and people are calling me a liar in my PM's. They say we are going to heard them into camps and reduce the population. Tell me why when I defend them and they say I want to kill them and everyone else I cannot be "Sick and Tired"

Well, simply because a few bad apples wrote you nasty PM's that doesn't mean that the majority of people here, are anti-troops.....I'd simply deal with those few individuals that said rude things on individual basis's, and not lump all ATS members, or even a majority of us, into the same category.

Sorry, I do not believe that American citezens or our goverment was behind this. I have heard similar stuff for over 40 years back to the Vietnam war. The same accusations no matter what. Where does it end. As an Army officer I have plenty to bitch about the handling of the war, but their was never a conspiracy to kill Americans. Their is enough good stuff to argue about

You have my respect.

When people on this forum make moral judgements against you, it hurts. It's always easier to criticize than to complement, always easier to tear down than to build. Sometimes on the net with strangers it may all be good fun but if you are in the wrong mood it can feel like one of the worst feelings there is. Especially when you really do have something personal, important, and/or serious to communicate.

I have some idea of how you feel about this forum, in particular, because this board put me through the ringer a few months ago over my job and way of life, and I can never look at this place with the same carefree attitude I had before. I still love it, but I now recognize ATS is not the place to go for sympathy. Still, if its any consolation, you do have the sympathy of this stranger.

Yes, the right to "elect" leaders is there but the votes are often manipulated. I support your commitment to your duty, but remember there is a lot of difference and room for error in the space between "as intended" and "as practiced".

A "lawful" order from an ineligible or corrupt holder of a public office may be lawful, but is not moral.

Liste here you little POS. How may books have I read. Well I have a Masters from John Hopkins in Mid East Affairs with a minor in history. I have spent almost half my life in Southwest Asia, the Middle East and the Horn of Africa. I have spent my time in places you oly look at on the internet for 20 years. When it comes to my area you could not find your ass with both hands and a flashlight.

For everyone that thinks this goverment wants to enslave you. They cannot even get together on a budget, let alone a plan to enslave their own population. That idea is so far out there it is a total laugh.
