Here is the West Coast Tsunami Warning Center: wcatwc.arh.noaa.gov...

It shows a Tsunami Warning In Effect!

I guess it is a more local Warning Center....Strange the two don't really have the same Warning.

Is it even possible to clean up 3 melted down reactors, I think not.

We shall have to wait and see.

Find it strange that soon after calls for TEPCO to prepare for more tsunamis, this happens

Reminds me of NASA's warning for preparedness speech the other day... What else is coming?

Everyone was waiting for that fourth earthquake to go on the ring of fire. Looks like it has just happened. Thanks to ATS for getting news out at any time of day or night (and right on spot too).

A star and a flag!

Something tells me I'm not gonna enjoy the "Fifth" too much If this clockwise trend continues. I'm at the two 'o clock position and in these parts they've been preaching about the BIG ONE far back as I can remember. I guess it could stay glued for another thousand years but if I was a betting man, I'd put every chip the other way.

In Alaska? Who the hell is in Alaska...

Well, I rarely post earthquakes anymore unless there is a decent risk of tsunami's or a very large quake. This has the potential to affect Vancouver, LA, Seattle, San Fran...etc. So there is a sizable threat from this. Although I haven't seen any info on the waves yet...only time estimates.

Besides....Dutch Harbor is where they base the Deadliest Catch filming from. I'd hate to see that wiped out!!

I'll pray for charlie sheen...

They have just dropped it slightly to a 7.2. But...the depth is deeper than originally posted. They also seemed to have moved it slightly too. I thought I was looking at an aftershock, but this seems to be the same event....

I am a little interested there haven't been any aftershocks I can find yet.

I almost didn't return here before going to bed,
was here an hour ago and come back to
7+EQ's with possible tsunami and a levee
breach. I just checked CNN and no updates
for either as I see. The quake was right off
the islands and I wonder if they are not
pretty populated, hope everyone gets to
safety if and when a tsunami hits.

Why is there only a warning for the Alaska coast when they are showing wave arrival times for the West Coast???

wcatwc.arh.noaa.gov...

Basically, the local NOAA warning center for Alaska issued the main warning. The full Pacific Tsunami Center has only issued an advisory outside of the local warning area...so far.

Let's hope it stays that way.

That don't sound to bad then. Fingers Toes Eyes all crossed

More reports:

A powerful 7.4-magnitude earthquake has struck Alaska's remote Aleutian Islands, but US officials did not issue a tsunami warning for the Pacific Ocean.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center did not issue an alert, but the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's (NOAA) West Coast and Alaska Tsunami Warning Center said a tsunami warning was in effect for the coastal areas of Alaska from Unimak Pass to Amchitka Pass.

There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries

Yeah....it's still showing the warning on the West Coast and Alaska Tsunami Warning Center site.

In a big red box on the front page.

depth was 38 miles... I doubt there would be a tsunami with it... a 7.2. But if you're near there, still be ready for anything.. just in case.

Yeah figures, it's MSM, when do they ever get their stories right? Was just reporting what I saw on the TV.

Everyone getting excited over an inconsequential mag 7 quake near the Arctic?

Must be a slow apocalypse news day.

Warning from earlier in the morning Thurs:

A tsunami watch was in effect for coastal areas from Kodiak to Dutch Harbor. It was canceled at 6:30 a.m. During tsunami warnings, people in low-lying coastal areas are instructed to be alert to instructions from local emergency officials and people on beaches are told to move to higher locations. Kiro

Activity is still going on then I'd assume the warning still stands for...
Kodiak a lowland island at the bottom of the island chain that's mainly affected, that has a pop of almost 7 thousand people. Family that used to live there said people can only evacuate by ferryboat or plane to mainland Alaska.
