Anyway, as i stated in the levee breech thread, hope this ends up being nothing. Had no idea about the solar storms either.

Crazy.

I will be keeping an eye on this for the next few hours. Does anyone know how prepared they are in Alaska for a quake of this magnitude?

On a side not there is no alignment with Elenin so they cant blame this quake on it.

In Alaska? Who the hell is in Alaska...

Well, I rarely post earthquakes anymore unless there is a decent risk of tsunami's or a very large quake. This has the potential to affect Vancouver, LA, Seattle, San Fran...etc. So there is a sizable threat from this. Although I haven't seen any info on the waves yet...only time estimates.

Besides....Dutch Harbor is where they base the Deadliest Catch filming from. I'd hate to see that wiped out!!

Why is there only a warning for the Alaska coast when they are showing wave arrival times for the West Coast???

No, no.

Within next hour it's war with Iran, China and North Korea.
Within hour and a half it's Alien Ivasion.
With two hours is Zombie apocalypse.
Then its rapture.

Find it strange that soon after calls for TEPCO to prepare for more tsunamis, this happens. Wonder how it will affect the clean up.

That's some irony. They just threw a tsunami at themselves. Must have been a simple error.

those are theoretical arrival times for waves that may only end up being an inch tall. Thats why.

Basically, the local NOAA warning center for Alaska issued the main warning. The full Pacific Tsunami Center has only issued an advisory outside of the local warning area...so far.

Let's hope it stays that way.
