They are intentional designed to target military factories and weakened Gahafi forces. Do you think that NATO is intentionally killing civilians. I love how people complain about civilian casualties in modern warfare yet no one complain about the Allied forces killing thousands of civilians in WW2. Hypocrisy at it's best.

I only know odd bits about Gadaffi such as the tv reports and him riding around on a tractor showing off one of his projects. In fairness to the outside world we have only been given a slightly eccentric image of the man. His attrocities have beel well kept secrets that have only come to light now there is an oil crisis. In fact today on RT it was reported that oil reserves were being tapped into partially due to the Libyan situation. There is a lot at stake here, probably more than the ordinary public are aware of.

What I do know is that Libya has oil, gas and cash which greedy others would use any means possible to take from Libyanl control. The Rebels setting up a bank means debt already being incurred to the bankers which Libya will have her oil and gas taken at a price favourable probably towards the bankers and not Libya. What stood against this was Gadaffi, but what if the Bankers take over and another one, as bad as you say Gadaffi is, but seemingly from the otherside is put in power? Libya plunges into foreign debt and no longer has control of her own resources, will you thank the Western armed rebels then, or hate them more than Gadaffi? I don't know but things rarely are as they seem in today's world.

Something has really bothered me about that video and its propoganda Paulioetc, and its this, viagra has been found on dead soldiers bodies. Now that video did not depict a viagran induced rape. It depicted sodomy - every bit as evil and cruel, but with viagra dolled out as is claimed, what bothers me is why they were using a broom instead of raping that poor soul. They used a broom because they were hiding something and that was the evidence of their DNA. Viagra and naked women mean sex. This was sodomy with a broom which is not sex for most people. If you are hiding DNA why, who are you - are you from a foreign country acting in a subversive manner to undermine someone or a Sovereign State? I might be wrong but I know the disgust I felt watching what is a completely blurred video which protected the faces of the attackers, albeit I am prepared to accept it may be as it was told but I have m doubts. I wish the Libyan people all of them well.

This isnt WW2, what a completely irrlelevant statement, this isnt a world war, this is libya getting invaded by the west under the guise of NATO.

Its more than likely these 'rapist' libyan soldiers, are just implanted, how hard is it to give someone a uniform in a country in ruin, i bet know one bothered to check the soldiers authenticity, for all we know hes an ex spec ops reject from the US.

Again, i go back to gaddaffi, when ever you see all his protestors, there are so many women, even more than men, so why are they supporting him if there female friends and daughters are being raped on a daily basis by his troops ?

Gadaffi's atrocities have been long known, and documented. Just because YOU are just now hearing of them doesn't mean the rest of us haven't known about them since shortly after he seized power. The late 70's and early 80's were a particularly exciting time around there, and Gadaffi was headline news very frequently.

With that said, he's right about NATO being guilty of murder in this campaign, in my opinion. The definition of murder is "an unjustifiable homicide". NATO has NO justification for meddling in the internal affairs of Libya, and so every death caused by NATO, on EITHER side of the conflict - civilian OR government - is a murder in my opinion.

I believe we should have stayed out, and let them duke it out on their own, until there was only one left standing. It was THEIR business, not ours. Early on, when NATO was only discussing meddling in the situation, "left wingers" were crawling out of the woodwork, making pleas to "help the poor people of Libya gain their freedom from oppression". Now that folks are DYING, they seem to have changed their tune. What the hell did they think war was? Poking flowers in gun barrels until the opposition cried "uncle"?

Well, they asked for it, they got it, and now they're whining and wringing their hands, trying to blame it on someone else, ANYONE else, other than themselves.

Hell with that! Drink the blood your own actions have shed!

Don't say I didn't warn you, either. From day 1 I've been posting here against this action, and even went so far as to predict the results they would get, and the (typical!) way they would try to foist it off on someone else.

NO! THEY did it, they can own it!

Don't blame the "war machine", blame the agitators who set it in motion, screaming for the blood the NOW decry!

Those same people who were calling for blood then, but are appalled at what they have wrought NOW, had a grand old time giving me hell because I've been to war a time or two, and done my share of killing. You know what? I did mine up close and personal, didn't scream and cry and agitate for someone else to do it for me, so that I could then trash them for their actions at my behest later.

The blood is on THEIR doorposts now, It seems that it must not feel very good to them, since they're now, trying lay the blame elsewhere. I have to wonder how folks can sleep at night, fighting wars by proxy and trashing those they send. At least the blood on my hands was come by honestly, and I've no regrets for it.

>>> END RANT

Here is an interesting article about Libya:

It's not about oil

And a video:

1 million march for Gaddafi? Total western media blackout? ~12:00 min

You are quite right at shouting the big YOU at me because I went on purely what I had seen tucked up in the UK over the years. I have had a good read through Gadaffi's history, my hair stood on end and I have to agree he is an evil man. So I will star you for your rant, without which I would not have bothered to check him out, but will still wait to see whether this is about helping Libyans, as opposed to say the Bahrainians, Central Banks, oil and especially the gas that Libya has. A pipeline across the Mediterranian would be relatively cheap for Europe.

My apologies for that. I'm like old nitorglycerine - I might go off for no good reason at times. Call it it "PTSD", or "cantankerous", or whatever you like, but in the end it's just plain wrong some times, and so I apologize.

Won't retract it, though, since I DID say it, and I own my own stuff, good or bad.

Most of it wasn't directed at you, specifically. It just so happened that you were nearby when the fuse hit the charge. I see way too many posts here that make me think that the poster thinks that history just began yesterday, and nothing of note was going on before they saw the news reports. It was my perception of that, rather than what you actually said, that wound me up.

Yes, Gadaffi is an evil man. Always has been, always will be, until the instant he draws his last breath and his toes curl up. That by itself, however, doesn't give us ("us" as in NATO - I'm in the US, so guilty as charged) license to go in and rearrange his internal furniture. That's for the Libyans to do, and for us outsiders to stay outside of. Now, if Gadaffi goes and attacks a neighbor again, and that neighbor asks for assistance, then we might have a justification. But as things stand, we don't.

Doesn't mean that I'll have a beer or play poker with him, but it also doesn't mean that I'm willing to redecorate his own house for him, either.

As I said earlier, most Libyan oil is sold directly to Europe. Although Libya only accounts for 2% or so of world production, it may well account for a good bit more of European consumption. In that sense, it could conceivably be about the oil, from a European standpoint. IF that's the case, then they ought to call a spade a spade, and be right up front about their reasons, rather than claiming it to be any sort of "humanitarian" or "freedom promoting" activity. In either event, the US shouldn't be involved at all, since we've already got a war or two to fight. No sense at all in overextending ourselves and participating in what's shaping up to be World War III.

You know, World War II was never called that until after the fact ( it was simply "the war" during the events), when folks stopped to breathe and realized that most of the world was embroiled in it. Likewise, World War I was never called that until after the fact, either. It was "The Great War" until we started numbering our world wars.

We may very well be right in the middle of World War III right now, and won't know it until the historians do. With all these messes popping up across the middle east, and folks taking sides on whether to get involved in them or not, it really wouldn't surprise me.

Edit to add: The "humanitarian" claim for Libyan involvement reminds me of a cartoon from Stars and Stripes during the Vietnam war. There were two soldiers sitting on a log out in the jungle, with bullets flying around them, and they were reading the "Stars and Stripes". The caption had one soldier saying to the other "Says here that Johnson says us boys are over her in Vietnam to protect us boys over here in Vietnam".

Some things are just self defeating, and blowing up the people you are allegedly there to "save" falls under that category. That's why I don't buy for a minute the "humanitarian" claims for the war in Libya.

If it's over oil, and they're willing to squabble over that piddling amount, then I don't feel disposed to let them prospect on my land any more...

Libya war is about oil, just yesterday CBC News or CTV News has said the american government may ease the oil prices at gas stations thanks to the ongoing oil production in libya.

Are you clamming that the war on libya and Gadaffi isnt about oil? oh please tell that to the Iraqi people and see how they feel now that they are liberated.

Everyday now the Iraqi people are becoming unhappy with democracy even if the iraqi people do have another election in iraq who will win? thats pretty much obvious who will win and he will be another western puppet in power just like in eupore.

Well of COURSE it's about oil!
The US is in the regular business of securing a piddling 2% of the world's oil production for foreign powers! How silly of me to presume otherwise!

When did Gadaffi take over Iraq? I'm sorry, I didn't get that memo...

Blasted couriers!

If he DIDN'T take over Iraq without my being informed of that move, just what the devil has he got to do with Iraq?

BTW, just so you'll know, some of my friends are Iraqis, and I won't have any trouble fulfilling your request to ask them how they feel, capiche? I'm sure they WILL be out of sorts to find out Gadaffi has taken over their country, though!

Hell, if you didn't see an arab country being disenchanted with "democracy" coming, then you weren't paying any more attention than the US government! "Democracy" just isn't in their DNA.

BTW, thanks for "foe-ing" me. It's always good to know that my words are having an impact - I wear it as a badge of honor!

I think Europe is a little vulnerable over natural gas when demand is high in the winter. There is always niggles between Russia and Ukraine over the pipeline which holds other countries to ransome. Libya has a huge natural gas resource and already shares pipelines with Italy. I have also heard more than once that there is very little extra capacity in the oil supply today. The West might not be driving so much but the East are getting into their cars now and appear to be thoroughly loving them.

Well, shucks, everyone knows Gaddafi is a sweetheart.

Just ask the 270 people that were shovelled into bodybags after their flight took an unscheduled landing at a place called Lockerbie.

and we should also ask the Turkish woman and two American servicemen killed and 200 others injured in a terrorist attack by Libyan agents in West Berlin Night Club in 1986.
