Well, he didn't exactly say that he was a fool when he wrote it. What he basically said was that he was fed up with all the nonsense associated with the subject and no longer wanted to be a part of it. I can understand that. The Alien/UFO crowd can be harsh.

My personal opinion of his book is that is was a prototype of every subsequent kind of "let's look at blurry photos and imagine we see alien artifacts" activity, including the Hoagland stuff the continuing tradition of the activity here on this site. Alien Rorschach Test.

I spent an afternoon in his home with pictures spread out on a table. He was sincere, but he was working with 3rd and 4th generation public affairs office copies.

Leonard has died. Impressive obit for an honorable life. No mention of his work for NASA, if any.
