As a Herpetologist I can tell you with almost certainty that this is a dehydrated chameleon. Without seeing the top of the head I can not specify the species.

Chameleon? I don't think so. I never knew a chameleon would have a pincer for a hand. Most likely a hoax like everyone is saying.

ATS Post

The question that I have been most concerned with is if this was produced by a taxidermist or photoshopped.
These new 'sculptures' using once living tissue merged together are very interesting to me and I am seeking more information on the people who produce them at this time.

Please refer to the following pictures....
farm1.static.flickr.com...
farm1.static.flickr.com...
www.african-safari-journals.com...
farm5.static.flickr.com...
stick.gk2.sk...

I hope this is enough for you to see they are actually connected fingers not pincers.

As for the species I would say, due to the fact that horns are not apparent, this is a young female veiled chameleon like this one 1.bp.blogspot.com...

It's a bit difficult to navigate the site since it isn't in English... but it is from here sow.ggnet.co.jp...

I think I read somewhere else that they were a type of bamboo and paper creation, but I'm not sure.

Look at how the head appears to be elevated..and it is very large and attached to the skinny neck.
My guess would be movie prop of some sort.
Thanks for the post..

I didn't think about that. The hands definitely resemble a chameleons. Not so much the head/mouth though.
