Israel to Turkey: Help us thwart upcoming Gaza flotilla
www.haaretz.com...

Israel's ambassador to Turkey reiterates Jerusalem's opposition to the naval 'provocation,' says Israel would allow the pass of humanitarian aid through other channels.

Turkey to Israel: We won't stop upcoming Gaza flotilla..
www.haaretz.com...

Turkey said on Thursday it had received a request from Israel to help stop activists sailing to Gaza on the first anniversary of an Israeli raid on a Turkish ship, but it said the flotilla plan was not Ankara's concern.

Turkey: Israel shouldn't repeat its Gaza flotilla mistake
www.haaretz.com...

"A fact-finding mission of the UN declared that [the blockade] is illegal," Davutoglu said, adding that in last year's flotilla people were killed 72 miles [116 kilometers] from the coast, so this was in international waters. The Mediterranean does not belong to any nation."

Report: Turkey shows support for Palestinian efforts to seek UN recognition
www.haaretz.com...

"The time has come to show solidarity with the Palestinians and help them to live in peace and dignity," said the Turkish Ambassador to the UN Ertuğrul Apakan during a UN Security Council debate on the Middle East on Thursday.

I think Erdogan should keep his promise and Turkey should send navy vessels to escort the next flotilla.

You are obviously a WW3 fanatic because you know what the result will be! Israel's allies will forget NATO obligations and smash Turkey into oblivion!

Don't discount a military Coup in Turkey either as it is common knowledge that people in Turkey's military are not happy with the current governments pro hardline muslim stance. It goes against everything Ataturk stood for! They have powerful military forces and the top military forces love the NATO acceptance (and support + weapons they have access too!) they have. They will not want to blow that over some "immigrant" Palestinian!

Ok so the title is your opinion? As I see don’t see that there was a legitimate threat of war made.
When was this speech made? Was it after the incident with the Turkish nationals or more recent?

Don’t get me wrong, I am no fan of the Israeli Government and don’t wish for war but if this was recent then this could be the makings of things to come.

Very rousing speech he made, looking for support in case of an attack or just rhetoric for the flotilla incident?

One of my best friends is from Turkey, and from the stories he has told me I would be fearful as they are a very strong willed, determined and hard people! (In fact most of the men I know are scared of his sister).

Peace

I don't know, Turkey could just be talking tough, they do have defense contracts with Israel and as a previous post had stated the Military leans towards the West and I could see a probable coup if things got ugly. Always remember love them or hate them, Israel has a good amount of nukes and will not hesitate to use them against an enemy, any possible foe knows this and they would be fools to think otherwise.

Didn't Turkey say they'd escort the first flotilla?

Lets hope they are honest this time and will escort the humanitarian aid right to the coast. After all, they know what happened last time.

There's a reason Israel has not invaded Gaza again this time around.

- Egypt said they would not stand by
- Turkey said (last year) they would not stand by

Turkey-Israel relations have taken a big turn since Israel went too harsh against those boats.

sigh.... Why can't Israel just stop b!tching and put its ego somewhere where the sun don't shine.
NEWSFLASH: ISRAEL, YOU ARE NOT THE CENTER OF THE #ING UNIVERSE!

I really really don't like where this is going- another war, possibly another WW. Egypt and/or Turkey crushing Israel is by far enough of a reason for Israel to deploy nukes and The West to interfere which in turn may cause Russia, India, Iran, Pakistan and China to launch a few strikes between themselves and towards the West.

Thanks for the source gathering OP. S&F well deserved.

Personally I'd like to see the next flotilla sail through the "illegal blockade" being escorted by the Turkish,Russian and Chinese Navy..

I then doubt the US would butt in..

Then see how tough Israel are..

Turkey is America's puppet state. They act out only as far as we let them and they know this. If we tell them to back down they will as they cannot afford not too.

They may be huffing and puffing a little but that's only to try and appease other countries. They are helpless when it comes right down to it.

Turkey is going to declare war on Israel? Isn't that like end-times stuff? How many nukes does Turkey have? Why would Turkey want to declare war on Israel? Does Turkey think that they (the Israelis) wouldn't fight back as hard as they could? Does Turkey think that Israel is afraid of other countries? I really don't care who gets exterminated over there, but sincerely, which middle Eastern country wants to put they're head on the chopping block first? Why would Europe (NATO) declare war on Isreal? Sure, you all can beat down on Israel all you want, but remember, there is no one left to "restrain" Israel now that the US has told them that (they, the Israelis) have to do whatever the "United Nutjobs" UN says they have to do! All I want to know is WHEN will Turkey declare war, or will they wait to be "provoked" ? It doesn't matter to me, since there is no stopping it now anyway, because it supposed to end this way isn't it? And we'll all be able to watch on our big screen HD, that is until the EMP from all the nukes going off takes out the TV satellites !!!!!

Just a humble internet forum user, but Turkey will not declare war on Israel as we all know what the end result will be. On the other hand, it will be drawn into an open conflict and thus requesting its political, military and internal democratic choice as to who it will support without demanding how it has demanded, but rather an acknowledgment of how things go bump in the night.

..enough resources spent, time to move on.

September is the agreed month.

I am not referring to the march but the broader spectrum of what the majority are oblivious to.

gesture.

I doubt it. Turkey is looking to stay out of troubles but the head of state needs to show posture, to get votes in certain segments of the population. Turkey isnt any more likely to declare war on Israel than Italy.
