Anyway, the message started reversing, and the 'random' stuff on the end almost certainly wasn't.

So, all efforts should be focused on this sequence:

The distribution indicates this is probably a trivial offset or swap cipher, but I don't have a huge amount of time to work on it.

It's not random. if you notice, the "random" characters after the # start going in reverse. like 5d fdz. # .zdf d5 etc
