Kind of surprised to see North Korea at the bottom of the list- with all the "sabre-rattling" they do I expected them higher up on the list...

Surprised to see Israel so low at Number 11, nice to see the Brits hanging in at no 5, Germany no 7 is a bit of a concern, but as it is still an occupied nation , I guess thinhgs will be Ok for a few more years as with Japan.
Australia is above Libya by the looks of it that is reassuring , we should be able to hold off New Zealand.
Thanks for the thread.

There is no way Greece has more military might than Canada.

This study was clearly fabricated.

That will never, ever happen. India is one of our close allies. In the event of a world war, its likely they would sit out. Obviously the two powers would be USA vs China. Despite what we believe, Russia and China aren't as buddy-buddy as it seems. They have their disputes as well. If Russia was smart, in the event of World War 3, Russia would sit out, at least until its clear who is going to win the war.

And i believe that would be the United States and its allies, to answer your question finally.

they are very accurate. click on each country and you will get the full military and weapons breakdown.
Again this does not count nukes

Well, if it counted broken down helicopters than Canada would be right up there with the US of A.
I suggest new variables in the study

Serious question, where will Iran be on that make if they develop nukes?

Global Firepower

The GFP final ranking is based on an in-house formula used to generate an average of all applicable statistics found on this website when compared against each country with applicable modifiers (bonuses and penalties) added to each nations score to present a more accurate list. The last major statistics review was in February of 2009. The GFP ranking list was updated in May of 2009. Changes to the list now include factors for current/recent military experiences, training levels and equipment quality. Denmark, South Africa and Georgia are new-adds bringing the country total to 42 nations.

i think they would still be the same place because its not based on nukes. but if it did they would be high since they would have only 10-20 in a few years while the other countries have a stockpile of hundreds...

Even after visiting the site, I still don't have a clue how the rankings work out.. They seem very inaccurate. Australia should be at least around number 10.
