Okay, here is a picture I took of the Perigee moon near my house last month:

I have about an hour from now until moonrise. Half hour after sunset. I don't know how dark it is going to be and there are still a few clouds on the horizon....but I will see if I can beat it!!!

That's what were talking about. Having the trees in the pic gives great perspective. I got out about 10 minutes late tonight so I missed the huge moon. Took some pics of what was left, but boy it isn't too easy. They all look like they are better suited for a double/triple moon thread than this one.

I'm going to buy a canon T3i, D7, or D60 probably at the beginning of the month. Sad I don't have the money now

Keep the pics coming

Get the T3i for sure!
- Especially if you're kinda new to DSLRs, Canon lenses are cheaper and more bang for your buck imo

Here is a snap from earlier, no objects in view for perspective. So technically it could have been taken any day I suppose

Not the sharpest pictures I must admit, but I guess when the atmosphere is in the way, it kinda distorts the image? (Damn that pesky thing that keeps us alive

WOW so so good!

Well this thread has made me look into buying some better lenses for my cannon, Can't quite afford the super £2000 telephotos but an upgraded zoom lens is definitely in order I think

Okay, so I was blessed tonight with clear, cool skies and an awesome view to the East!!!!! I had to mess around with my camera setting due to the brightness of the moon, so I was unable to capture the hill/trees behind it by the time I got the ISO setting low enough...but I think it is my best moon shot to date, so I am happy with it.

I have to say that I was NOT disappointed here on the West Coast! This is the Super moon as seen from Skagit County, Washington State, around 8:30 PM PST. This is just with a Nikon D40 6MP, although my wonderful husband got me a 300m lense. I had to manually set the ISO to 200 and used the flash....funny how that works. Took me a long time to figure out the best way to get a moon shot is with the flash on. Go figure.

Anyways....here it is!

Yup!

They cost about as much as the camera though, but I think it is worth it!!

Ive snapped a few pics from out back,
but all Ive got at home is my little 4.5" Meade reflector, 25mm EP and 2x barlow,
and a small, crappy little kodak camera. lol

I took a few, but none were great,
Here are the only 2 ill waste bandwidth on.. lol

I was going to go up to the observatory,
but figured it just a waste of gas, as full moons drown out most DSO's anyway,
and it would take more time to get the 20" open and ready than it;d be worth. lol

The mirror on my little meade is filthy..
(this 25mm EP sucks to)
but it will have to suffice..
lol

Anyway, here's my little contribution..

one with the 2x barlow, on the top half of the moon~
(can really see how dirty mirror is here)

Nice pics everyone!

waited up most of the night for the clouds to clear.
cool story behind these photos. its actually a group photo takes when a few ATS soul mates were staring at the moon at the exact same time communicating across the night sky...

Nice image!!

Nice camera too!

To get them to show in posts,

CLick the "Tools+" button in the "ATS Toolbar"
When the page opens, directly underneath where you just clicked "Tools", you will see "Pictures"
Click on that.
Log in [to ATS media] (if not already),

In there you'll see "Picture gallery"
and there you'll see "upload photo"

Upload the photo, click and open it once its uploaded.
Under the photo, will be 3 different "links"..
Use the one that says " "Embed on ATS".
Copy and paste it into your post,
and there you have it.
