A Perfect Circle - 'Sleeping Beauty' - (June 4, 2000. Phoenix, AZ)

Far beyond a visible sign of your awakening,
(I'm) failing miserably to find a way to comfort you.
Far beyond a visible sign of your awakening,
(You're) hiding from some poisoned memory.

Poisoned and hopeless. Sleeping Beauty.

Hi, nice to see that there are some people on ATS that like the music of Maynard as I do!

Here another two songs with maynard you possibly haven't heard:

"them bones" & "man in the box" of Alice In Chains (another great band, with maybe the only singer that could really compete with Maynard - Layne Staley - R.I.P.). Maynard played that song with AIC in 2005 on the band's benefit concert for the victims of the 2004 Tsunami.

I don't want to say that Maynard is my idol, because he'd hate for me to say something like that...but I hope that before I die, I hope I get to meet him. He is a genius when it comes to music and wine. I love all of his music, and I've been an APC fan longer than I've been a Tool fan (For shame, or so I'm told), and his music just gets me through things. I ordered his wine for my recent birthday. The Lei Li Rose was one of the best wines I've ever tasted. I plan on joining the Velvet Slippers Club soon, so that my bff and I can be gunfighter wine snobs. My best friend and I are also planning a trip to Jerome and Phoenix, AZ in July to see APC in concert, and to hit up the wine tasting room for all things Maynard.
I have a tattoo of my initials in the Elegant Myan text, and plan on getting another with something more meaningful in the near future.
I'm so happy to have stumbled upon this thread. If anyone's heading up to Jerome around the time of the Phoenix date, I'll see you there!

I don't even know what else to say. Just so happy this thread is here

Tool is the king of progressive sound.

Maynard is the mastermind behind it all.

Music is magical by nature, it has the power to change moods, the power to soothe, to inspire change.
But what do we have today passing off as music? to what cheap merciless sons of whatever have we lost control of everything we consume, from entertainment to plain survival, what evil plan is this to make us all crave the empty accords of mainstream pop music.

Children growing up being unable to distinguish the hay from the gold.
Mr. Maynard knows this of course, his is the work of the the visionaries, uniting sound structures from far away lands, where music is still resonating with magic in the hearts of the listeners.

I believe Tool and Mr. Maynard to be not only brave but groundbreaking, the fact that they remain "out of the mainstream" and not considered semi deities is to me a clear indication of the impoverishment of our souls regrading everything.

My aim is to ride the spiral, willing it to be so, working hard to get it, Tool has helped me on my way, its still a long way but hey, I´v got all the time in the world before I die, I only wish more considered what Mr.M meant as a true alternative, he is not the only one speaking about reconnecting and recognizing what we are from what we have been told we were.

Great post and links Op and contributers!

~London, July 21, 1994~

You make your decisions not from the heart, not from compassion,
and not from a place of love, but from fear.
That just concerns me.

Reverand Maynard - animated (short clip)

this IS necessary

Why didn't anyone else understand these important things?........................

.............Now red was your color, and of course, those little people out there, were yours too.

Here comes the water

'Flood' (Hollywood, '92)

All I knew and all I believed are crumbling images that no longer comfort me. I scramble to reach higher ground, some order and sanity, or something to comfort me.

So I take what is mine, and hold what is mine, suffocate what is mine, and bury what's mine. Soon the water will come and claim what is mine. I must leave it behind, and climb to a new place now.

This ground is not the rock I thought it to be.

Thought I was high, and free. I thought I was there; divine destiny. I was wrong. This changes everything.

The water is rising up on me. Thought the sun would come deliver me, but the truth has come to punish me instead.

The ground is breaking down right under me. Cleanse and purge me in the water.

Let's have a war! So you can go and die!
Let's have a war! We could all use the money!
Let's have a war! We need the space!
Let's have a war! Clean out this place!

It already started in the city! Suburbia will be just as easy!

Let's have a war! Jack up the Dow Jones!
Let's have a war! It can start in New Jersey!
Let's have a war! Blame it on the middle-class!
Let's have a war! We're like rats in a cage!

It already started in the city! Suburbia will be just as easy!

Let's have a war! Sell the rights to the networks!
Let's have a war! Let our wallets get fat like last time!
Let's have a war! Give guns to the queers!
Let's have a war! The enemy's within!
