Ok, I went back and got a much clearer screen cap of the pump. I also snapped a pic of the same area from the May 27 visit. The orange hose on the road is the one in the pit with the big white pipe, spewing the black sludge.

And finally a still from the dry cask storage. May 27 visit again

Far Back building and CWT front building

There are two structures that I'd like to identify and find the reason for their condition. One is the far back building that Ive posted about before, and the other is the small building between the 4stack and the CWT.

Far back building (For now the FBB, until real name is known). Photo 1 shows digitalglobes analysis. They only identify the east wall as damaged (thery dont state whether explosion damage or not). Yet it is obvious that there is damage on two sides, as evidenced from photo 2, another DG photo.

Photo 3 and 4 show damage and lay of the land. The trees and buildings between the FBB and R1
form a wall that should block the R1 shockwave. Plus, as the photo above shows, there is no debris field whatsoever past the transmission building that is damaged from the R1 blast.

Less conclusive is this shot from the 4.22 tour video, which shows the other two sides to the FBB. There appears to be possible smoke damage at the far end of the building, (the end where the other walls are damaged the most), but impossible to tell for sure.

If anyone can find out the identity of this building and/or photos that show this building intact post EQ or post R1, it would be very informative. I want to suggest EQ damage, but no other building in the plant seems to have been that affected by the EQ, as the distance from the epicenter reduced it's power considerably by the time it got to Fuku.

The other building that I am curious about is the little building south of the 4stack, between it and the CWT. It has been destroyed, yet it is the only building in the southend complex to show serious damage. This could be because it is a metal structure and the others could be concrete, like the lower walls in R1 and all the walls in R2-4. The metal structures were the ones that buckled in the tsunami. (Not sure why some buildings would be concrete and not others).

But the real question comes from a DG photo post tsunami but pre any explosions. It appears that this building is still intact. Any ideas?

They claim in the video that its left over tsunami water. They also show pictures of seaweed up in the ceiling. But I sure as hell wouldn't be walking in it, no matter where its from.

I am baffled by these findings. That a hot spot could exist 60 km way (not 60 miles as I first said) is strange enough. But when you consider that this is long after the main pulses, and very little of these went south, it makes it even more hard to understand. Below is an aerial dispersion map.

Going over the DG photos just now, and I kept coming back to the cam location. Something was bugging me about the lack of bushes. Till now I just assumed that the early March photos were before vegetation had started its summer growth burst, and they were only small. But then it dawned on me. The area in the March photos is void of any green growth whatsoever, and the main component of bushes is Ivy which stays dark green all winter, yes? Tepco couldnt have paid an employee to plant stuff to show how things were growing and healthy and everythings fine kind of thing would they when they were so desperately in need of workers elsewhere.............nevermind.

ON EDIT: Now Im not so sure. It does kind of look like there is a difference in the color and maybe the raised bank in front of the cam does have a bit of green to it in the early aerials. Hmmmm?

And by coverup Im talking about the botch job at hiding the timestamp.

Wow. I couldn't believe the opening line. Talk about not making sense. America didn't want Japan to have nuclear weapons, so we did this;

The B reactor near Richmond, Washington, produced plutonium heading for Japan. Yes. In the Fat man. That's the bomb they dropped on Nagasaki in 1945. The reactor was commissioned for the Manhatten Project.
Enter 'B reactor' into a Wiki search for details.

Here's interesting info for you. This is from the following article I found published in two parts online.

From Hiroshima to Fukushima: The political background to the nuclear disaster in Japan

The propagation of nuclear technology in Japan was a direct consequence of the US military’s endeavours to wield influence over the country’s development immediately after the Second World War. Shortly after the end of the war, the US began to transform Japan into a bulwark against the Soviet Union. This policy was intensified following the taking of power by Stalinist regimes in China and Korea. Having lost the monopoly on nuclear weapons, it became necessary for the US to make Japan receptive to nuclear power.

www.wsws.org...

The Japanese people never embraced nuclear power initially. They had to be convinced by a propaganda campaign. Here is how it came about.

The CIA agent, “Podam”
The same newspaper article quoted Tetsuo Arima, media researcher and professor of social science at the University of Waseda, concerning the Japanese pro-nuclear politician and media magnate, Matsutaro Shoriki: “After the world war, the CIA worked closely with Mr. Shoriki to advance the campaign for nuclear energy in Japan. It did so because this man had not only the necessary connections to politics and economics, but also the power to mobilise his newspaper and television empire”.
During years of research in the United States National Archives and Records Administration, Arima discovered 474 pages of CIA files, documenting in detail the progress of the introduction of nuclear technology to Japan. From one of these, he quotes the following: “Relations with Podam have now progressed to the stage where outright cooperation can be initiated”.

“Podam” was the code name for the member of parliament and CIA asset, Matsutaro Shoriki, who would later become president of the atomic energy authority he founded, as well as minister for science and technology. Shoriki is today regarded as father of Japan’s nuclear power.

The Japanese Goebbels
Shoriki’s career would have been unthinkable without his close relationship with the CIA and the Pentagon. As head of the political police in fascist Japan before and during the war, he was particularly responsible for hunting down and crushing the unions, communists, socialists and opponents of the war. Later he became a member of the upper house of parliament and head of the information department of the interior ministry, which was responsible for ideological warfare and propaganda. He had become owner of the Yomiuri Shimbun as early as 1924. This newspaper was to become the main mouthpiece for the warmongers and the military dictatorship in the 1930s and 1940s. Yomiuri Shimbun is today Japan’s largest newspaper with a circulation of about ten million. It can be said that Shoriki was the Joseph Goebbels of Japan.

Following the war, he was imprisoned as a major war criminal for three years. However, his case was never brought to prosecution. Instead, he was released without trial. The CIA and the US Defense Department needed his skills and influence to implement Eisenhower’s policy in Japan. Secret US government files show that the CIA and the Pentagon provided funds, amounting to tens of millions of dollars, for the construction of the Shoriki media empire—he was also the founder of the first private television broadcaster, Japan TV, as well as Japan’s professional baseball league.

At that time, the Japanese people were still traumatised by the destruction of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, reacting with horror to any mention of atomic power, whether for peaceful use or employed as a weapon.

www.wsws.org...

The CIA ultimately lost control of their asset Shoriki who, concealed from them for some time his primary interest in nuclear technology was all about Japan regaining its former power through military muscle particularly in the form of nuclear weapons.

Shoriki, the ardent nationalist, was reluctant to be simply of service to the CIA for propaganda purposes. On the contrary, he intended on using the CIA and the Pentagon for his own projects. His plan was to exploit his relationship with the CIA and the Pentagon to become head of government, and rebuild Japan into a military superpower.

The Department of Science and Technology—the predecessor of the Ministry of Education and Science—was in fact established, and by Shoriki himself. Touting the campaign slogan, “A new Industrial Revolution by means of nuclear power”, he became a member of parliament, and went on to become president of his own creation, the Atomic Energy Authority, which later developed into the Department of Science and Technology. Masao Maeda, one of Shoriki’s party colleagues from the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), drafted the legislation to establish the Department of Science and Technology. He defined the task of a body subordinate to this department, the Central Institute for Science and Technology, with the following words: “research into weapons technology, including nuclear weapons”.

www.wsws.org...

However, Shoriki was primarily interested in weapons technology. Therefore, the first reactors he was responsible for constructing as head of the Atomic Energy Agency in Japan were the Calder Hall type from England, which were originally developed for the production of plutonium for nuclear weapons. The utilisation of heat, emanating from the production of plutonium, for power generation was really only a byproduct.

www.wsws.org...

In short its all a tangled web of intrigue. Make of this what you will but for sure the history of the nuclear program in Japan as in the US is all about military and corporate needs first. It is likely fair to say the same can be said for any nation where you find nuclear plants producing plutonium.

Is this a joke? This whole Japanese nuclear thing is turning into one massive rabbits hole with Alice leading the way.

Don't forget the Mad Hatter!!
No joke, here is quick synopsis: the Nazis were going to try and build an A bomb, we stole the scientist's to help develop the bomb ourselves then nuked Japan to stop world war 2 and to send a message to the rest of the bad guys.
By the way, the Japanese military of that time made the Nazi's look like boy scouts.
It was one of those cases where the good guys "the Allies" got the bomb before the bad guys "Nazi's, Communists", but "Allies" used the damn thing.
Since they used it they had to keep it to keep the peace.
Well you can see how well that has gone.
One thing is perfectly clear to me and that is the need to know our world history before we repeat it.
Here is a taste of history:

August 02, 1939 Washington, DC Albert Einstein Alerts President Roosevelt of German Atomic Energy Program
Albert Einstein writes President Franklin D. Roosevelt, alerting the President to the importance of research on nuclear chain reactions and the possibility that research might lead to developing powerful bombs. Einstein notes that Germany has stopped the sale of uranium and German physicists are engaged in uranium research.

January 19, 1942 Washington, DC President Roosevelt approves production of the atomic bomb following receipt of a National Academy of Sciences report determining that a bomb is feasible.

June 17, 1942 Washington, DC President Roosevelt instructs the Army to take responsibility for construction of atomic weapons complex. The Army delegates the task to the Corps of Engineers, which establishes the Manhattan Engineer District.

September 19, 1942 Oak Ridge, TN Oak Ridge, Tenn. Selected as Uranium Enrichment Site Brigadier General Leslie R. Groves, head of the Manhattan Engineer District, selects Oak Ridge, Tennessee, site for facilities to produce nuclear materials. Isotope separation of uranium235 takes place in the gaseous diffusion plant built in the K-25 area of the site, in the electromagnetic plant in the Y-12 area, and in the liquid thermal diffusion plant. A pilot pile (reactor) and plutonium separation facility are built and operated at the X-10 area.

November 25, 1942 Los Alamos, NM Los Alamos Selected as Atomic Weapons Laboratory Groves selects Los Alamos, New Mexico, as site for separate scientific laboratory to design an atomic bomb.

December 02, 1942 Chicago, IL Enrico Fermi Achieves First Self Sustain Nuclear Chain Reaction Metallurgical Laboratory scientists led by Enrico Fermi achieve the first self-sustained nuclear chain reaction in pile constructed under the west grandstand at Stagg field in Chicago.

January 16, 1943 Hanford, WA Selected as Plutonium Production Facility Groves selects Hanford, Washington, as site for full-scale plutonium production and separation facilities. Three reactors--B, D, and F--are built.

July 16, 1945 Los Alamos, NM First Plutonium Bomb Successfully Tested Los Alamos scientists successfully test a plutonium implosion bomb in the Trinity shot at Alamogordo, New Mexico.

August 06, 1945 Hiroshima, Japan Little Boy Dropped on Hiroshima The gun model uranium bomb, called Little Boy, is dropped on Hiroshima, Japan.

August 09, 1945 Nagasaki, Japan Fat Man Dropped on Nagasaki The implosion model plutonium bomb, called Fat Man, is dropped on Nagasaki, Japan.

Five days later, Japan surrenders.

Another good read is from hoanw.org about Hanford and the Manhattan project
Hanford Background

The Hanford Nuclear Reservation, located in southeastern Washington, is the most contaminated site in the Western Hemisphere. Since it was established in 1943 as part of the Manhattan Project, Hanford has evolved from producing Plutonium and Tritium for the U.S. nuclear weapons arsenal to a Superfund clean up site dealing with the radioactive and toxic wastes generated by those operations. As much as 1.7 trillion gallons of contaminated wastes were dumped into unlined soil trenches at Hanford during the years of production. More than a third of the 177 underground storage tanks have leaked, resulting in more than a million gallons of liquid High-Level Nuclear Waste contaminating groundwater near the Columbia River.

I live in the southwestern part of Washington.

I also fast forwarded from 1945 to present:

April 05, 2009 Prague, Czech Republic President Obama Calls for an End to Nuclear Weapons President Obama in a landmark speech in Prague, Czech Republic called nuclear weapons the gravest threat to international security and advocates for the global abolition of nuclear weapons.

September 24, 2009, President Obama chaired an historic meeting of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), during which the UNSC unanimously cosponsored and adopted a resolution aimed at implementing the nuclear security agenda President Obama outlined in his Prague speech.

April 12, 2010 Washington, DC President Obama Hosts Global Nuclear Security Summit President Obama hosts a Global Nuclear Security Summit to facilitate discussion on the nature of the nuclear threat and develop steps that can be taken together to secure vulnerable materials, combat nuclear smuggling and deter, detect, and disrupt attempts at nuclear terrorism.
Check out the NNSA.
I hope this gives some added perspective and hope to you all.

Thanks! That website is focused on news regarding the effects of radiation on children and mothers. The news on the website appears to be repostings of news from Japanese sources, so I'm not sure how much of the news there is new to this thread, but there were a few things I thought were interesting.

They link to this forecast of the diffusion of particulate matter for the next couple of days. www.meteocentrale.ch...

A news report on how the Nuclear Safety Comission of Japan deleted parts of a survey of 1000 children 15 and under living in Iwaki in Fukushima that showed they received 35 millisieverts of radiation to their thyroid.

A Japanese Foreign Ministry official states that the focus on assuring that Japanese-produced food (such as beef) is healthy without reason is causing trading partners to get the impression that Japan can't be trusted.
savechild.net...

A survey of rice paddy fields in Koriyama, Fukushima showed that cesium had penetrated 15 centimeters into the soil. Though 88% was within the top 3cm, and 96% was in the top 5cm, there were still trace amounts deeper than that, showing that plans to remove the top 5 inches of the soil will not be enough to avoid contamination in rice grown in the soil. This is because cesium was thought to spread at a rate 1000 times slower than water, when in fact it spreads at just one tenth of the rate of water.
www.asahi.com...

296 schools in 12 prefectures served beef in school lunches that is feared to be contaminated with radiation. Out of 30 schools surveyed with the beef in stock, 8 were found to be contaminated with radiation. Of those, 2 had beef in stock with levels of cesium that exceeded the government limit of 500 becurels per kilogram (at 649-1293).
www.asahi.com...

A survey in Saitama prefecture showed that the radiation released from the top 5cm of soil in an elementary schoolyard is 0.252 microsieverts, making it possible for children to be exposed to more than 1 millisievert per year.
sankei.jp.msn.com...
Japanese cars for export to Russia were turned away at a Russian port in Primorsky Krai. Each car was found to be emitting 17 microsieverts per hour, a level 340 times normal background radiation. The carrier originated in a port located near Kyoto. www.jiji.com...

I don't believe those news items have been mentioned on this thread, but forgive me if I'm wrong.
