The protestors are workers who represent themselves, not some vague sinister communist directive. There is a lot of disinformation on this thread by posters who wish to set up a strawman argument to shoot down the protests. Here are some important points to keep in mind when you look at what is taking place in Wisconsin.

The teachers are on strike. Still. A large number of the student body have joined them. The WEAC has requested the protest wind down. The protestors are not supported by the unions at this stage. Any posturing of support by unions is to maintain the facade they are there to represent the workers. They are not. The union hierarchy is there as part of the mechanism keeping the worker dissent controlled, and facilitating the demands of the management. Unions have already agreed to management demands.

Now for those who are posting something along the lines of this; 'America is suffering hard times, Wisconsin badly managed its resources, now everyone must accept severe belt tightening I have this point to make'.

It was not ordinary Americans like those workers in Wisconsin who are to blame for financial sink hole America has become. It is the bankers, politicians, and elites who own the corporations and industry that demanded the policies and legislative acts that culminatively resulted in this disaster. Not just those groups in America either. The people need to be looked after. That is what federal government and local governments are elected to do. It isn't a case of the ends must justify the means either. The ends envisaged as theirs alone by those who bought this disaster upon the people of America is simply not the ends to be suffered by ordinary working Americans. There is a giant chasm between the wealth of the elites and the average American. That wealth needs to be reallocated for the good of the country amongst all. That is what the protests by the workers is about. Justice.

You are so naive or a good disinfo agent.

It's thinking like this that continues to prevent peace. Accept this for what it is, a bunch of people identified with another bunch of people and sent them support. It may only be 1% of the population who are behind the pizza but it's 1% that wasn't there before. As the benefits of peaceful coexistence become more and more obvious i honestly believe the world will stabalise.

But we must accept the possibility before it can become reality.

Great post,

As a person who believes in the inalienable rights of individuals, I say, we should feed all those who would fight against tyranny and injustice.

This is a great post, great idea.

Ok I did some checking, took less than 5 minutes. The title from Politico is misleading, it says Egyptians, as if plural. Well, it was an Egyptian who ordered the pizza. One! lol and ppl are making it out to be like lots of Egyptians. But the blackboard for Ian's Pizza shows orders coming in from other countries like Denmark.

You dont get the point of this post.. we are not talking about politicians in this post.. we are talking about people of other nations, faiths, issues. coming together and helping the people.

Ask I said.. Shows We The People of this planet, not us vs them like we are led to believe... I dont care about the politics behind it, I think its awesome.

It was just one Egyptian, and the Politico article made it plural. Who's distorting things and for what reason?

Personaly, I think it's quite silly.
Egypt protested over a Mubarak regime.
Teachers protested because they have to pay for their own health insurance.

Oh the horror, the horror.

(shakes head in disgust!)

also you know good and well it's not about "health insurance" It's about the right to collective bargaining .

Look, the real truth is that Unions have been the tool of communists to subvert the Free market economy and Capitalism in general. Communists hated the "bourgeoisie" since the movement started. It's just that most Americans, and perhaps many in other countries, simply don't know the communist origins of Unions. Most likely most of the teachers protesting dont' even know the communist origins, just like many Democrats don't know the history of their own Progressive party and how the Progressives of the Wilson era supported fascistic ideas.

In regards to the financial crisis: If sacrifice must be made, and indeed it needs to be, let it start with the leaders who have led us down this path. Let those who call out for the people to reduce and accept their standard of living to do so first. Cut your pay and standard of living and health and retirement benefits in half until this country is profitable. Tax across the board in a PROPORTIONAL REPRESENTATION.... IN RELATIONSHIP TO INCOME. I.E. 15 % FLAT TAX ON 40,000.00 YR.INCOME. FOR EVERYTHING PURCHASED .........SO IF I MAKE 40,000.00 A YEAR AND BUY 100.00 IN GAS TO FILL MY TANK I PAY AN ADDITIONAL 60.00 TAX BASED ON MY INCOME. NOW, IF SOMEONE MAKES 80,000.00 A YEAR AND BUYS THAT SAME 100.00 THEY PAY 120.00 ADDITIONAL IN TAX FOR THAT SAME TANK OF GAS. SIMPLE. PROPORTIONAL REPRESENTATION. BASED ON INCOME=PR=1.618.....OTHERWISE KNOW AS THE GOLDEN RULE........LETS SEE HOW MUCH CAKE THERE IS TO GO AROUND.......LEAD BY EXAMPLE FROM THE TOP DOWN...NOT THE BOTTOM UP.......LET THERE BE TRUE LEADERSHIP AND SACRIFICE ...........STARTING WITH OUR ELECTED OFFICIALS............ARE YOU WITH ME HERE?...........

Ok i'm having trouble with reading your posts as the formatting is horrendous so i'll just deal with the part i read.

Obviously i am fully aware of the stoning of women and other horrible things that go on in the region, and i hope one day these things will stop, but the way to stop them is not to be negative like yourself. The way to stop it is focus on the positives (like this pizza being a symbol of shared values) and work from there. My point is that this would have been unheard of only 5 years ago.

From here as they develop a hopefully more peaceful and democratic society they will further enter the global trade system, as time goes by they will see the advantage of appeasing their trading partners, the women will slowly develop more rights and eventually will break through into an equality movement. This will all take a great deal of time, just like it did in western society.

bourgeoisie
1. the middle classes
2. (in Marxist thought) the ruling class of the two basic classes of capitalist society, consisting of capitalists, manufacturers, bankers, and other employers. The bourgeoisie owns the most important of the means of production, through which it exploits the working class

So unions have their origins in communism and are against the ruling class. What is wrong with this?

I am personally against "classes" period. Does that make me fit a label that can make me an enemy?

I do not believe in ownership of personal property. It is silly to think that on a planet of finite resources inhabited by humans who all have the same needs for their survival, anyone can claim ownership of these resources and think that someone won't have to eventually act violently for their own survival to obtain those resources.

If you cannot see that capitalism breeds perpetual violence against man by forcing him to compete to survive, then you do not understand the system of competition and iniquity that IS capitalism. A dog eat dog world breeds junk yard dogs.

Communism is not better when it evolves into socialism whereby the State, a non-existent entity, claims ownership of resources, nor facism where corporations, another fictitious entity claims ownership. In its purest form of no ownership and man helping man, it is the next and best stage in Man's evolution.

Not that this has anything to do with the thread at hand.

Unity, that is the topic.

With Love,

Your Brother

People are not competitive by nature. It is a learned behavior. Observe young children who come from stable households, no abuse, playing and you will see that they naturally cooperate together in their play. Children have to be taught to compete.

The same goes for isolated tribes where modern society has had little influence. Those tribes have managed to survive by cooperating.

You believe in personal property because your property has become your sense of being. No worries, keep your property. Look around you though. It is your attachment to your property that leads to the exploitation of others around the world. The plastics all come from the oil people are fighting and dying for. The cheap chinese slave labor manufactures those goods. Capitalism has found that cheap labor and placed your own country men out of work and in a position of suffering.

Keep your property.

You won't take it with you when you leave this world.

With Love,

Your Brother

P.S. As far as it never happening, watch. The world has never known the power of love, but is about to.

No disrespect intended but we need to get a handle on what we are talking about here. The evolution of stages in progression IN THEORY is from feudalism to capitalism to socialism to communism and I have no idea what would come next. To jump from capitalism to communism ends up in a totalitarianism. Unless the whole world did it at a single moment which isn't all that likely, you end up with Cuba, if you are lucky. Cambodia under Pol Pot if you're not at all lucky. Every communist state to date has been a totalitarian mess. It has to be international, and unfortunately that means gradual evolution /revolution.

It has begun. It began early in the last century as Capitalism began to collapse. The disinformation campaign brainwashing the people also really kicked into gear then.

The global financial system since 2008 has collapsed. Since the entire world is now fully part of the capitalist system there is now no room to develop new large markets. The world is a finite pie. Now every slice has been bought and eaten. The pie has to be remade and redivided. That means a world war. So yes socialism is preferable, and doesn't entail giving up private ownership, unless you happen to own a corporation, bank or enterprise of that nature. It doesn't mean business stops being done. And it doesn't mean peasant farming for the minions. What it does mean is pure democracy. Something capitalism can never provide. As the masses in the Middle East as well as in America are realizing.

It's 2011 now and not 1950, you can crawl from under your desk at school, the "Commies and Red China are coming" drill is over.

To show you how poisoned you are, what is a Union? It's people coming together to voice opinions and complaints. Are you saying you're against this? How come one of the first things dictators do is bust up Unions? I'll answer it for you...it's because they don't want people coming together and voicing their opinions or standing up for themselves.

People with your displayed mentality are who keep the evil and suffering in this world. Separation leads to division, confusion and eventually conflict. Yet here you are advocating for separation.
