Stops me in my tracks every time I hear this.

It takes me back to a time when life was easy and I didn't have a care in the world.

Wow, talk about synhronicity, I just ran across a song and felt compelled to share it in SDogs "musings and meandering" thread. The words I used to describe the song was a time stopper.
Cheers to good thread friend

If I Go I'm Goin GAlan Isakv

This one I have posted before, but for me it's the epitome of soulful time slowing music, not to mention it's Stevie (RIP) This was the last song he ever recorded and he asked the engineers to turn out all the lights in the studio, which just adds to the magic this brother was able to spin.

Had to add one more - Troubled Times

Peace,
spec

Immediately followed by:

It does not matter where I am or what I am doing. These two songs, seperate or together, stop me dead in my tracks and I close my eyes, breathe deeply and just feel the music. I love them both so much!

ETA: pay no attention to the video for Don't Follow. It doesn't really go with the flow of the song. Close your eyes and listen

Thanks for the posts guys listening to them now.

I agree music is not what it used to be. I am very jealous of the people who got to grow up in the hayday of music...

I'm just glad it's still accessible so I can escape from the nonsense that is around now.

That's the one thing that I am glad of. Being there when you waited in anticipation for a certain album to come out. The freedom that the artist's expressed.

It (the music) really made me into who I am today.

The being bald and getting old though, I could do without....

Your Troubled Times vid brought this to mind immediately, I had to post it. Another one that fits nicely in this category for me.

Spec how did I know you would chime in with TOTD

now I have to work hard to top this list....
hmmmmmmmm

Ok this is tough, I am choosing three, simply because I have to beat Spec here:

First, a song that has held me for close to a decade....

Second I have to pick a guitar song but there are way too many, so my choice is:

and finally it would not be any sort of musical list without:

You're Welcome

This is mine. Was stationed in Italy. Stood across from the Bridge of Sighs in Venice with the Grand Canal behind me and blasted this on a boombox.

A song that "stops time"? I don't think that this discussion could be complete without Isao Tomita's performance of Arabesque No1 by Claude Debussy. It's the theme song from Star Hustler.

Really wasn't going to add my 2 cents but I had to refresh and see things are now all over the board so...

Mine are fairly mainstream but, stop time... for me, absolutely.

Live in Peace - The Firm

When I was a teenager I remember playing this song on my record player and laying right by the speakers...I'd close my eyes and time would stop for me...
Here's the live version:
