Why was the post about the Iran telegraph page removed? Was it a hoax?

No hoax, but i found an interesting Reuters headline that seemed relevant , got excited about it and posted, went back to double check and found I was out by a whole year !! next time I double check before i post... egg on face narrowly avoided I hope.

(for info it was regarding Iranian leader threatening to 'Punch' west on Feb 11th. It is a celebratory date for their government apparently. Source was Reuters)

So what is it that is worrying you so?

What are you talking about? The question is appropriate and shouldn't deserve any animosity.
Are the Ambassadors still in Washington..that is it..

Quadrennial Diplomacy and Development Review

On July 10, 2009, Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton announced the initiative at a State Department town hall meeting.[4]

The most ambitious of Clinton's departmental reforms, it is modeled after the U.S. Defense Department's Quadrennial Defense Review, which Clinton was familiar with from her days as a United States Senator on the Senate Armed Services Committee.

The Quadrennial Diplomacy and Development Review (QDDR) is a study by the United States Department of State, first started in 2009 and intended to be done every four years, that analyzes the short-, medium-, and long-term blueprint for the United States' diplomatic and development efforts abroad.

It seeks to plan on a longer-term basis than the usual year-to-year, appropriations-based practice, and to integrate diplomacy and development missions under one planning process.[1]

It similarly seeks to correlate the department’s missions with its capacities and identify shortfalls in resourcing.

[2] Finally, it is also a precursor to core institutional reforms and corrective changes.[2] The first such review was completed as year 2010 drew to a close.

Appointees

She appointed Deputy Secretary of State Jacob Lew, Director of Policy Planning Anne-Marie Slaughter, and the United States Agency for International Development Administrator to undertake the review.[7] At the time of the announcement, that was the Acting USAID Administrator, Alonzo Fulgham.[7] (On November 10, 2009, Rajiv Shah was nominated to be USAID Administrator.[8])

The first review

The QDDR held its first meetings in October 2009 at the Willard InterContinental Washington, hosted by the U.S. Global Leadership Coalition

The first Quadrennial Diplomacy and Development Review was completed in December 2010 and was entitled Leading Through Civilian Power; it was presented by Secretary Clinton and USAID Administrator Shah, to employees of both organizations gathered at a town hall meeting.[14]

The 150-page document outlined three key factors that would affect the State Department in coming years: limited financial resources due to U.S. budgetary constraints and political realities; a rapidly shifting global landscape that features power being spread across many countries and the prevalence of non-national actors; and the ability to respond to problems caused by weak states and incipient or actual conflict with a flexible corps of civilian expertise

The Department of State's Quadrennial Diplomacy and Development Review

Snippet:

The United States faces a set of complex, varied, and numerous foreign policy challenges. No one set of tools is sufficient for solving or managing them. Our success in exercising effective global leadership depends upon a robust and effective State Department and USAID working side-by-side with a strong military. By using all the tools of American power, we can pave the way for shared peace, progress and prosperity. This comprehensive approach is the essence of smart power.

www.state.gov...

Washington, DC - February 4, 2011

On Tuesday, February 8, 2011, Luis CdeBaca, Ambassador-at-Large to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons will hold a conversation with Wade Henderson, President and CEO of The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, on U.S. efforts to combat human trafficking.

Cheryl Benton, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State, Bureau of Public Affairs will moderate the discussion. The event will be streamed live on DipNote, the Department of State’s official blog, at 3:30 p.m. ET. Members of the general public are invited to participate by submitting questions, some of which will be selected for response during the live broadcast.

This is the ninth in the Conversations With America video series coordinated by the Bureau of Public Affairs, in which the State Department's senior leadership hosts conversations live, online, with leaders of prominent non-governmental organizations.

Discussion topics include foreign policy and global issues and provide a candid view of how leaders from civil society engage the Department on pressing foreign policy issues.

My first GUESS, is that there is concern about Egypt actually getting rid of it's filthy despot that the US backs.

The Democrats and Republicans might squabble for our entertainment -- but heck, raising 3% taxes on the wealthy is controversial "socialism" while we are firing teachers, and unemployment is nearing Depression levels. If THAT is an opposition party -- I don't need them.

So to me, their is Bi-partisan agreement to perhaps, do something to keep Democracy from spreading in the Middle East. Can't have someone stop pumping the oil, can we?

>> And for any people who still think those shills like Limbaugh and the like, are anything but well paid propagandists; look how disciplined they all are to NOT TALK ABOUT THIS MEETING. The entire army of pundits turns on a dime and echoes the same message -- and apparently, maintain radio silence as well.

>> I'll be interested to see other people's ideas on what this could mean -- but it seems at least as important as a meeting of the G20 or some world banks -- as their is "bipartisan" support for those things as well. And whenever the Dems and Repugs are on the same page -- it is never good fur the common man.

>> If there is concern at the TOP LEVEL, over "human trafficking" it is more likely to COVER UP the involvement of churches and some of our own organizations.

The CIA got involved in Drug Trafficking during the '60s to prevent some foreign power from using the Mafia to infiltrate or assassinate people in this country. And, other than Pesky anti-war Liberals, there hasn't been much assassination in this country other than a few shootings and small plane crashes.

So it stands to reason, that those who "dally with the dark side" might also get involved in human trafficking, because they don't want anything profit-making to slip out of their control.

>> I've been waiting for years now to have some busload of kids get rescued from the back of some church or politician's lackey. I'd suspected that the Bush family's charity for "runaway kids" was also a front for this sort of activity. When you consider their close ties to the Saudi's, the Saudi's proclivity to "import" child sex workers, and the Bush administration's protection of their sovereignty on that matter,...

... well, anyway, I figure, we might find out about aliens before we find out about child trafficking or how the world bank really functions -- JUST as a distraction.

Does anyone really care?

What is clear is, unlike what some paranoid alarmist here predicted, this meeting wasn't because of some impending global disaster.

Can you imagine the panic if Clinton called all the ambassadors and Consulars home permanently?
I think this so called "meeting" is just a front for the American government bringing home all it's Embassadors without creating a global panic, because something big is going to happen.
It could be the pole shift thing (yeah I'm a doubter but this thread just reminded me that there is a small chance it might actually happen. After all, we keep saying watch what the big ones, government etc do...well apparently they are coming home to Washington.)
So what now?
The timing of it all is a bit weird.

No, I think the meeting was probably just that a meeting.

And why is the timing weird?
