people own guns because we are all afforded the right to protect ourselves.....if we could eliminate guns from the face of the planet, including from law enforcement and government then I woudl be all for it. But as long as someone out there has a gun, I should also have the right to have one....

We're just like you Americans. We can legally own any gun we want. There's a process involved in buying a gun, and you can't go to walmart to get one, you need to go to a gun/hunting/sporting store. On average we have the same amount of guns per person as the Americans, according to the studies.

Yet, strangely, the total country wide gun death total would be smaller than, ohh, any american city you choose to pick.

The guns aren't the problem. gun regulation would help, but not stop crime. The fact is, most gun crimes are committed with stolen guns. Guns stolen from nice white folks like you trying to protect their family. The stats speak for themselves, own a gun, more likely to be shot, or to shoot a family member.

The gun culture is the problem in my opinion, people willing to go grab a gun over a parking spot, the violence on american streets, THAT'S the problem. Until you can find an outlet other than violence, you will keep killing each other.

gun owners aren't automatically racist. The fact remains, who do YOU think you are protecting yourself from, if you are honest, you know their skin tone is a little off from yours. But how can you blame anyone, the media has created this problem.

A simple question I like to pose to gun happy Americans.

So you want a gun to protect yourself, you intend to purchase it legally, and will not be committing crimes with it. Why would it be a bad thing to have that recorded somewhere? Why? Because the communists rounded people up with guns first? You would still have the gun friend, and no matter who you think you are, when the police state comes banging at your door, you are outgunned, period.

They also toyed with the idea of instead of a gun database, just digitally tag the bullets. Ignoring the ability to repack your own shells, this kinda makes sense. They have no list of what guns you have, but they can trace the bullet back to your credit card. Again, if you don't intend to commit a crime, what's the problem with that?

I guess I'm a pacifist, i don't think anyone outside of the military needs an assault weapon. And those who really want one shouldn't have a problem joining a club that keeps a record of such. Rifles, pistols, shotguns galore, but really, why do you need an AK47? honestly. If you are that worried that the second the government knows you have a gun they are gonna come for you, you'd best lock and load and start the revolution because you've already lost.

I have guns, to protect myself and family from intruders that have NO right to be in my home and on my property. I have guns to hunt game animals for meat and to control the population of those animals, as instructed by God. I would rather harvest an animal then see its species get over populated and die of starvation due to lack of food source. I have guns because its my legal right to do so if I choose.
I do not have guns because I am looking to perform a crime, nor do i condone criminal activity by individuals or the government. I don't go out into public looking for a reason to shoot someone, and I don't think if I am upset at work or at government officials for being retarded that I am going to run off and shoot them because I have a gun.
I'm not racist what so ever!

I can say though that if someone ever comes to my home to take my guns from me whether it be an individual or the government they will be met by the barrel of said guns. The constitution, regardless of age, will not be repealed they tried it with alcohol and it just made the situation worse. You take guns from those that have them legally and do not commit crimes and they won't be happy, and the criminals will still find a way to get the guns by other means like usual.

The people in America that think guns should be banned are the ones who live in cities where the only exposure to guns they have were the gang shootings down the street, those in the rural areas who hunt or just enjoy going to a shooting range and shooting targets like guns for guns not because whether or not they could kill someone if they wanted to... I don't think anyone WANTS to kill anyone, unless they are mentally unstable.

The people outside America who make claims that Americans are violent lets not forget Americans came from other countries like the UK, France, etc., and I as I recall some of the bloodiest fighting in the world's history was done in Europe by Europeans. So before pinning the label on Americans take a step back and look at your history too. Hitler, King Henry VIII, Napoleon... all were Europeans, all violent people. I'm just saying...

I consider myself more liberal than conservative.. but I see how owning guns can be a necessary thing. The reason is power. Criminals have guns, and unless you live in a mansion with a huge gate, you can be made powerless. If or when the SHTF, are you going to resort to calling the police in hopes that they'll protect you?

Every level headed, law abiding citizen can be trusted with a handgun in their home IMO. People with more credit to their name, absolutely nothing on their record, gives back to society, etc, should be encouraged to have a license to carry.

I would feel safer if the 'good guys' were armed. When a Loughner comes to your town and starts firing, I hope someone takes him down swiftly.

In every instance that I have had my hand on my pistol ready to pull and point if the situation escalated, it has always been a white male. I myself am white and have never seen an instance where race had anything to do with anything. I have guns but obviously it is not because I fear other races. Seems I have more to fear from my own race than any other.

Sometimes I like Moore, but I saw him say this, and I think he is totally wrong here. He's an obvious socialist with an anti-white bias. But he was majorily wrong in talking about Canada, because he failed to realize that Canada is not plagued with the gangs and thug criminals(who just happen to be mostly "minorities") like the US is. Also these gang thug gun crimes are not being done by lawful citizens who legally purchase their firearms.

I live in Canada and see a black person once a year and I own several guns.

Not for protection. I like blowing stuff up.

When I was young I used fire crackers, not for protection from the blacks.

Im willing to bet that Moore himself is racist and spends a lot of time trying to rationalize it and find a reason for it. Looking to blame someone or something else for his own bigoted views.

He speaks as if someone were to kick in my door I'd be shocked like a deer in headlights that the person violently rushing into my home wasnt the race I was expecting. Who thinks that way? Besides Moore of course.

once you grow up, you own a gun because it gives you a sense of protection.

In my humble opinion, being a fearful racist is as good a reason to own a gun as any. It's not my job to tell people what to think. But if they do something illegal, like shoot somebody when they aren't being threatened, then the full force of the law should fall heavily on them.
