Nevada Nuclear Test site : Take a look at the weird stuff to be found there !!!

I just noticed a new thread that showcased a Youtube vid showing "strange activity" in the Area 51 location. However it was a bit of a misnomer as the vid actually contained images entirely from the Nevada Nuclear Test Site which is located immediately adjacent to, and west of, Area 51.

However, that vid reminded me of the many Google images that I had collected ages ago, also from the NTS area, that highlighted some of the mind-boggling activity that once took place within that area at the height of the Cold War era.
I realize that the NTS hasn't been the "flavour of the month" for a long, long time and that there's very little interest in it these days. But irrespective, I thought I'd share some of my images with you and hopefully you haven't seen many of them before and will find them not only interesting, but highly unusual and thought provoking.


Ok, this 1st image is of a small crater that has a really unusual device or artifact within it. I'm struggling to come up with a reason why it's there and what possible purpose it served. Did they really need it do detonate the nuclear device that created the crater ?

This is a very unusual image for a couple of reasons.
The 1st being the glowing circular object apparently casting a shadow and giving the impression of being airborne ... illusion, perhaps ?
The 2nd is that the original crater apparently has been eradicated and the entire area leveled flat ... why do that ?

This image is so unusal. What is the purpose of the large device seen located within the crater near the top wall ? Certainly seems to be in a strange location. If it was a tower associated with positioning the nuclear device, wouldn't it have been positioned at the exact center of the crater ?

What the heck is the purpose of this device sitting at the bottom of the crater ? Notice the square shaped shadow it's casting.

In this image, we have a crater that looks like it has a white substance flowing down from the desert floor and into the crater. Reminds me of pictures I've seen of a glacier ... and before anyone gets stuck into me, yes, I know it's NOT a glacier !

This image shows what looks like a structure or a building at the bottom of the crater.
Also notice the strange shadow being cast by the tower in the top right of the image.

This image shows yet another example of a building or structure at the bottom of a crater.
Notice the excavation marks to the right of the structure indicating that some kind of work took place AFTER the crater had formed.

This image shows yet another structure at the bottom of a crater.
Someone's bound to say that its just the tower used to lower the nuclear device into the ground. If so, then I'd like an explanation as to how the structure survived being lifted many metres into the air at the time of detonation followed by a corresponding drop of many more metres as the crater collapsed ... and still managed to remain perfectly upright !

This is an unusual image that gives me the impression of many buildings/structures at the bottom of the crater with a road leading to them.

This is another example of some kind of structure at the bottom of the crater.

Now this image is in my opinion incredibly unusual and I simply can't come up with an explanation.
What we're seeing is a circular area (A) with a "ray or path" extending from the top and heading directly towards a another complex (B). There's no doubt that this is deliberate and that A and B are connected somehow.

This image is identical to the above image except that I've inverted the colours to make the circle and ray stand out more clearly, showing that they definitely DO exist ... purpose unknown.

Lets take a closer look at areas A and B to see if there's anything to account for the above circle/ray effect.
Here's area A first.
Immediately we see a small mound/hill with an obvious entrance.

Here's an enlargement of this mound and entrance.
Looks like a major entrance if thats a truck next to it. This indicates a substantial underground facility could exist at this spot.
I've also circled what looks like a plane.

This image shows area B.
Immediately we can see 3 very unusual structures there.

Looks like yet another entrance leading into an underground facility.

So what do we have ? We have 2 areas (A and B) connected in some mysterious way by a circle/ray effect thats most visible from the air.
Area A has a major entrance to an underground facility ... area B has 3 very different shaped buildings as well as another major entrance to an underground facility.


This image shows a crater with some serious cabling attached and very weird/unusual/strange white devices attached at one end. What possible purpose do these devices have with a nuclear detonation ?

This image is so very unusual.
What are those white zigzag features ? This is the ONLY crater out of hundreds with this particular effect.

This image shows yet another perfectly upright structure at the bottom of a very deep crater.
How did the structure manage to survive and remain perfectly upright after being lifted many metres in the air by the explosion and then dropped many metres as the explosion created a deep crater below it ?

This image has to be the strangest ... and my personal favourite.
Out of the hundreds and hundreds of craters that litter the test site, this is the ONLY example of not only 2 overlapping craters ... but also the ONLY crater that seems to be filled with some kind of liquid. I assume liquid as there is apparently sky reflection on it's surface.

I've done a rough calculation assuming it's water and believe it or not but the volume is in the megalitres !!
Thats a monstrous amount of water to be sitting out in the middle of the desert.

So why create such an overlapping crater combination and then fill it with liquid ... and where did such a huge quantity of liquid come from ?

This image I assume is the location of a crater because there's a white "cable" like structure entering the ground as can be seen in many other craters.
But for some reason the entire crater has been leveled flat and what looks like a huge concrete area laid on top of it. Why ?

Now, the Nevada Nuclear Test Site may not be as "glamorous or famous" as Area 51 right next door, but in my personal opinion, it's every bit as mysterious and without the slightest doubt, there most certainly was some really weird stuff taking place there over the years.

Great thread. That second pic is pretty odd. If it's not some kind of optical illusion, it's either really big and out in the middle of nowhere, or it's airborne.

Thanks for this information, went out of your way to deliver this so cheers. I don't really know what these images depict and can only speculate. The picture below the 'flying saucer' looks more like an upright person/being in uniform or protective clothing to me which I found odd.

Although the saucer picture is uncanny the shadow is not really round so I don't believe that it is an air born object, although boulders on the ground could distort the shadow with their own shadow.

Pyramid struck me as odd too, I'm guessing that it is some kind of shelter to protect from downward blasts forces as they often detonate nuclear weapons in the air.

Not sure on the others though, I would add that finding craters in a military test sight is pretty normal - the extra equipment inside the shelters was possibly placed at a much later date. If I wanted to conduct experiments in the desert I would likely take advantage of the shelter that a crater offers so I don't necessarily find these images that out of place. They are interesting though.

A suggestion i have for this one would be materials testing.

Create or *recover* materials, that you design or are designed to be impervious to blast, heat, kinetic energy, ionising radiation, the whole spectrum...place it next to a nuke and detonate..the fact that the material still appears to be intact tells a lot.

A lot of the other images, especially the craters with the towers inside them reminded me straight away of certain lunar images of craters with anomalous tower structures in the center of them...just like these pictures show.

The underground structures inside craters also hinted at future lunar structures...practice for building lunar or Martian underground bases perhaps? The best place to site a lunar or Martian base, would be underground and the crater would afford protection too.

Also noticed how images 1 and 10 have the same shiny metallic looking sphere in them?

In picture 1 the sphere is in the crater, near the grey metallic wall, in picture 10 it is out of the crater.

I know that one of my husband's friends, a nuclear physicist, was doing scientific experiments at the site. You maybe seeing remains of some of the tests.

Got to admit those are awesome pics ! Who would have thought that the old nuclear test site was so weird.

Also have to agree with you regarding the double crater filled with something that looks like liquid has got to be one of the strangest pics. Makes you wonder why it was created, what it's purpose was and definitely where the heck did they get that massive amount of water from, and in the middle of a desert !

Water is an excellent radiation barrier.

Maybe they are testing how much water is required to get the radiation from the crater to acceptable levels?

The structures in the craters are probably the firing towers for the underground test shots. They will have been hardened and contain sensors to detect the force of the shock and monitor escaping radiation.

The capped off crater may well be one that was leaking radiation, and has been reinforced and levelled out.

At least one of the pictures shows what looks like a phased radar array - could have been installed to test EMP hardening?

Just speculation on my part mind, but feasible

about half of them look photoshop more like illustrations for 1950s sci-fi magazines
of planet Barsom (Mars)



the 'head shot' of a penguin found in the (liquid) medium in left side crater is funny..
and its apparent that the shadows and ripples are permanent, compare the 2 images
of the crater floors---the odd features are persistant in different angles and time/distance

and the erosion of the sand on the crater walls seems 2 dimensional at best and
some crater's look flat like drawn on a piece of paper

you best find out if someones pulling your leg with these images

yop test the world into extinction. I thought there would be pictures of mutated animals or people but i guess holes in the ground are interesting...

well you have to figure that every new detonation was using different materials to produce different affects, not including the fact that not all these detonations were meant as weapons tests. most were probably done to create new elements and a resource

The lake first, if not glass from fused sand, could it be alkali leached from the soil and perhaps sttled into the bottom after some years of rainfall?
Yes i KNOW it the desert but it does rain occasionally, and flash floods result.
The temptation to envisage dual use testing, especially the later underground ons, is enormous.
Maybe they have used these "tests" as a blind for the construction of DUMBS (deep underground military bases)
The amount of construction machinery is astounding.
Surely it would be possible to drill a hole deep enough for a safe blast, and lower the device into it with one crane?
The literally miles of heavy cables does not look like they are getting ready to blow up anything....It looks as if they are building something massive underground there,Something that requires a huge amount of electricity, or communications.
The cables look bulky and big enough to carry a lot of current.Though its possible it heavily shioelded with a small core of wire,it doesnt feel that way looking at the photo.(for what its worth)
I think you have come upon probably very highly secured facilities, which, by locating them in an area that people would avoid(nobody wants to glow in the dark).
The pictures are limited btu the implcations are enormous.
