Oh and one more thing you keep ignoring: Almost everyone posting to this thread has pointed out that Anon is everywhere. And that's not an understatement. Anywhere there is the option to post an opinion, there is Anon posting there. Maybe with the exception of some born again Southern baptist sites of something, and even those likely have Anon registered for trolling purposes.

Why are you so focused on ATS being some kind of secret organizing ground? Have you seen any Anonymous posts organizing some kind of attack? Can I have a link? I haven't seen them and would very much like to.

Anyway the point is that there are hundreds of thousands of message boards where people could organize. ATS is way too regulated to even consider it.

PROTIP: Most chans have hidden boards. 420chan used to have an invasion board listed on the front page, til they caught hell for the raids that originated from there.

you people got it ALL WRONG. The media does not understand anon. ATS does not understand anon. Anyone who uses the internet and does not identify themselves are part of the group "Anonymous". THERE. I SAID IT. Anonymous is not EVEN a group. Go to 4chan /b/ and lurk there for a while and you yourself can go find a wikileaks thread with a irc network/channel to mingle on. That is all "Anon" is. Of course there are facilitators of irc networks and/or channels but that is literally the only organization it has.

Then you should get off the Internet all-together. I'm not being mean or argumentative, just factual.

BTW, not all Anons associate with each other, either. Just because some Anons DDOS sites, it does not mean other Anons do the same.

Just like visiting another country than your own, it is wise to learn the culture before you walk on the soil.

Fine with me.

As long as they keep fighting the good fight. Exposing injustices and making life hard for those who promote those injustices.

they plan it..where do they plan the attacks then?
Mirc?
ats?
well as for mirc havent been there in ages since windows 3.11 lol
But here on ats everyone admits they know anon members and poster's...
schill makers apparently idk lol
But mark my words they all have to make contact in some way or form to do a mas strike on a single target.

HOLY HELL WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?!?! Where does the following confuse you: The old, CAPABLE Anon have nothing do do with this. The script kiddies on /b/ currently could not take down a small local high school web site. WHAT MAKES YOU THINK THEY COULD EVEN TRY TO GO AFTER ANYTHING GOV'T?????

Where are you getting your information from? Please source, between your thread and the thread on how the gov't knows best about marijuana use I could use a good laugh.

And YES, FAR MORE THAN 1500 people can be gathered for what you can't seem to get through your head is NOT hacking "on a whim."

Go to 4chan.org. Under the 18+ section, click "Random" and start a new thread. Post this pic as the necessary first photo. In the body of the post, put "Habbo raid for nostalgia! Need /b/lackup!" Then go to Hobbo Hotel at Hobbo.com. The programmers fixed the pool, so it can no longer be closed due to AIDS so some will not come. There will be people that show up, however. See how long it takes you to lose count of each individual person with that character model.

These incidents of "hacking" occur in much the same fashion. Yes, there will always be people trying to organize, like the one from which Operation Payback originated. But they are few and far between, and most posters (or "members" as you seem unable to comprehend do not exist) will ridicule them into oblivion.

Please, for the love of whatever higher power you cling to, educate yourself. I despise christianity. Because of this, I learned all I could about it, if for no other reason than to be able to turn others' backwards "logic" around on them. When did it become the norm for people to say "I HATE THIS AND I KNOW NOTHING ABOUT IT BUT DAMNIT I HATE IT AND THERE'S NOTHING YOU CAN SAY TO CHANGE THAT" and expect people to not try to educate them? I really see no point in posting on a site like this if you are totally closed off from the possibility of acknowledging you may be wrong and listening to other posters input.

First of all mIRC ( www.mirc.com... ) is not bad. 150 million people use mIRC we are all part of Anonymous, just dependes on how u use your pc.
2nd organization is a social arrangement which pursues collective goals, controls its own performance, and has a boundary separating it from its environment;
.
* From a process-related perspective, an organization is viewed as an entity is being (re-)organized, and the focus is on the organization as a set of tasks or actions.

* From a functional perspective, the focus is on how entities like businesses or state authorities are used.

* From an institutional perspective, an organization is viewed as a purposeful structure within a social context.

Urban Dictionary: Anon
(1) Anon. : Abbreviation of the word anonymous. (2) anon : Archaic english word meaning 'soon, presently'. (3) anon : Archaic english word ... and as for

Anonymous,

in addition to being responsible for 85% of all quotes ever cited, is the source of 91% of all Internet truth and justice and 32.33 (repeating of course), and our daily dosage of Vitamins /b/ and Lulz. Anonymous is void of human restraints, such as pity and mercy. Those who perform reckless actions or oppose Anonymous will be eliminated. Failure is not tolerated. Enemies are to be dealt with swiftly and efficiently. Anonymous must work as one. Anonymous is everyone and noone. You are. I am. Everyone is. Anonymous is humanity when the gloves come off. Anonymous is legion and its deeds are legend. What most people do not see in anonymous is that they do not go up against Scientology because of their ways, nor do anonymous do anything else for a valid reason. Anonymous in itself is a free-joining attention seeking "cult" as it may be referred to. They go up against Scientology so that they attract attention, moar people join, they become more confident and repeat. Anonymous is the only immortal troll on the internet, which means they will never be banned.

Anonymous is infinity divided by 0.= Syntax error.

Anonymous is not a person, nor is it a group, movement or cause: Anonymous is a collective of people with too much time on their hands, a commune of human thought and useless imagery. A gathering of sheep and fools, assholes and trolls, and normal everyday netizens. An anonymous collective, left to its own devices, quickly builds its own society out of rage and hate. Anonymous can be anyone from well-meaning college kids with highly idiosyncratic senses of humor trying to save people from Scientology, to devious nihilist hackers, to clever nerds, to thirteen year old boys who speak entirely in in-jokes on an endless quest for porn, to 16 year old girls posting pictures of their B-cups because they think they look good, to potential rapists browsing through MySpace to find some 16 year old girls posting pictures of their B-cups because they think they look good. Furries are not included among the ranks of Anonymous due to their supreme faggotry. For this same reason all furfags are destroyed within .666 seconds of facing the power of Anonymous

Anonymous is not so much unlike other web communities, it has in-jokes, culture, extended debates, etc, just like everyone else. Well, anyone stupid enough to join a web community. The difference, and the reason they visit other communities is that Anonymous have a need to be harassed by "nannying" moderators. They hate being denied late night sleepovers. Here, there isn't anyone to do that - yet long and productive edit wars spring up at about the rate you'd never tolerate elsewhere, on topics you'd never believe. They have no leader, no pretentious douchebag president or group thereof to set in stone what Anonymous is and is not about. This makes them impossible to control or organize. Not really a collective at all - more like a stampede of coked-up lemmings. They don't dare to lead for will but rather break the "bridge" instead. And since it's all made out of Legos, # it.

Starting as an in-joke itself, "Anonymous" is the name assigned to a poster who does not enter text in the [Name] field on chan imageboards. Anonymous is not a single person, but rather, represents the collective whole of the internet.

As individuals, they can be intelligent, rational, emotional and empathetic. As a mass, a group, they are devoid of humanity and mercy. Never before in the history of humanity has there once been such a morass, a terrible network of the peer-pressure that forces people to become one, become evil. Welcome to the soulless mass of blunt immorality known only as the Internet.

The first rule of Anonymous is you do not talk about~ [Anonymous].

Also, Anonymous loves cats.

This may have already been said but i only read the first page and do not have time at the moment to read the rest. It seems to me some are failing to see what "Anon" is. "Anon" is simply a Conglomeration of people, not all of who which share the same interests. There is actually a large chunk of "Anon" who are actually against Assange and they are fine with that simply because not everybody is forced to think the same. You only know of "Anon" what you read and hear on the news, but the simple fact is there are militants, pacifists, and those that do not take a stance. People are acting like they are a group with a single goal all acting towards some common. This could not be further from the truth. Simply put, anon is everywhere, everyone who doesn't use their real name on the internet (and who does), and has no stance on anything. Hope this enlightens at least one person.

If officialdom really want to find all the hackers or percentages of them at a time then there will be more assanges and more jobs for government posts to counteract internet intrusion on businesses and individuals rights ,although the net will be compromised in the process.I reiterate both Assange and proactivists of anon further the compromisation of the net,not that it matters because each of us would be unaware anyways as we are all anons.

What? lol anon means anonymous, anonymous is everyone.

I dont want to associate myself with some of the stuff that goes on at 4chan but its a fascinating message board that gives people anonymity online to post whatever they like,i find that such an interesting concept to be able to say whatever you like with no consequences (unless you post something illegal) i dont really post their much but the freedom of having no identity online is quite liberating as opposed to something like facebook where everyone knows who you are.

As regards to some of the contents of 4chan or /b/ it can be shocking, sick, funny, sexy, interesting you name it but it represents what people are really like with no social barriers to hold them back.

Im sure its already been said but anon is not an organization,it doesn't represent anything other than the collective interests of people, and it has no solid membership, anon can be you me or anyone but occasionally they unite under a common agenda.

Its not a case of anon but enforcement for no one being anon, net neutrality gone.both the working mediums being fostered on us by assange and anons all further that goal and aim,it works in china so it will work here also.they just require the right legal nudge to commence enforcement.
