whats the problem? if you have to swear in every post then maybe this isnt the site for you. thats my thoughts.

No need to swear every five minutes, but maybe every ten would help make a point. Unfortunately we can't even swear even once.

To Machines4200:

As a former Prison Planet member, I asked ATS and PP the same questions you have asked just now. It became clear that most of these sites are in fact operating and cooperating with the NSA/Google. It is part of Rex-84 and Garden Plot. The Red, Blue and Yellow lists are being broadened every time some one new makes a post against the NWO. What better way to get people to express their true thoughts then to let them speak on forums such as this. I have a degree in communications and electronics and hold a FCC GROL. The US Gov. implemented the "A-D"(analog to digital) conversion in late 1994 using wireless communications. That means instead of hooking up to a "66 or bics" block to listen to your conversations, they can pull it right out of the air. Every cell phone has and "IMEI" number installed on it. "IMEI" stands for "International Monitoring Electronic Identification" code. That means they can "monitor" or listen in on any one using their system world wide. Every form of communication, be it internet, cell phone, text, twitter, or any analog transmission (HAM radio) is monitored and has been for a very long time. They are gathering intelligence of internet users and others that would be willing to go to war against the NWO. I was removed from the PP forum after having posted those questions. I let PP know that I knew what they are and who they report to. That's when they gave me the "axe". There will be some that will "poo poo" this. Fine, let them. It won't change the fact that many sites are and have been involved with gathering intell on individuals Nation wide. I have had no response from ATS after letting them know that I know their exact location in conjunction to other physical sites around their place of business. It will come as no surprise should I be removed from this site also. The NWO has infiltrated and set up many sites to gather intelligence on as many Americans and others as possible. "Big Brother" and all that. I shall continue to post these facts as long as I am not censured. How do I know all this? Unknowingly, I helped install the "system" here in Georgia from 1994-1996. Be advised....Big Brother is listening............."+"

I probably shouldn't say this, but there are certain words which seem not to be considered to be swear words here: probably because they originate in another form of English other than American.

For instance, I have never been moderated for my use of the word "Bloody" as in "those bloody tyrants" or "Where the bloody hell are ya?"

Not that I personally consider that particular word to be a swear word, but you get the drift

Why do you feel that you are so special that you shouldn't have to look for these answers yourself? It's really not that hard to use the search function - rather than ignorantly come on the Board forum and 'demand' answers to questions that have been asked, and answered, a thousand times before.

I have seen much worst ignorance here first of all..

Second of all i find it odd that a couple people were able to answer my questions and know where i was going with this.. i was not being ignorant... i was not "Demanding answers" as you call it. whether they were answered before is kinda irrelevant seeing as I probably wasnt here then...soooo whats the big deal in asking for them again? and research? every thing i google about ATS is just links to threads.

So thanks to the ones i thanked previously and thanks Scoutsniper for the info. quite interesting. and thanks for everyone else who knew what i was talking about with the censorship.. let me state again that not once did i discredit the admins and mods here...not once.... so for everyone that took it way out of proportion... i dunno.. re-read the op. and my second big A** post. i thought i made it quite clear what my intentions were with this thread and only about 50% of the posters seemed to have understood that.

Thanks again all.

But Who Watches The Watchers Who Watch The Watchers?

reply to post by scoutsniper

It's old, but you might find this thread to be of interest:

ATS: AT&T Narus Collaboration Sent Your Private Internet Communications to The NSA

It may come as a shock to some people, but everyone (at least, as far as I know) on the ATS staff is skeptical of The Government, and all of us -- with the sole exception of founder Simon Gray himself -- were members before we joined the staff.

As usual, I can't speak for anyone but myself, but in all my time here as a member and a moderator, I have never seen any evidence whatsoever of government control or involvement in the running of this site. And as a super mod I have access to all sorts of interesting behind-the-scenes information, including the Trash Bin, where all deleted threads go, as well as access to every post removed from the public forums, as well as what we mods talk about in private.

If ATS really is some sort of CIA/NSA/Google or whatever front, it is run in such a way as to render any difference between such a postulated operation and the independently-run site I know as ATS meaningless.

Of course, I can say that all day and because I'm a volunteer here it will naturally be assumed that I work for them, so asserting anything against the unsubstantiated, fanciful claims made against ATS is ultimately an exercise in futility. People will, after all, tend to assume the worst in the absence of facts.

There used to be a monthly phenomenon of "ATS is a Government COINTELPRO Site!11!!!!" threads popping up in this forum and others, where random people from the Internet would start threads making all sorts of absurd claims about ATS, none of them proven (some of them based on rather obvious April Fool's jokes from the past). We do tend to trash those -- naturally leading to accusations of "cover-ups" -- mainly because they violate the T&C restrictions concerning false posts and hoaxes, but also because they're just so damn tedious.

Lo and behold, those of us who help run the site actually know how the site is run. We see it firsthand, day in and day out. When people make claims about ATS, we know what's true and what's bogus. Try not to be shocked.

But again, this is a conspiracy-oriented site, so expecting anyone to believe me is pointless.

My recommendation for anyone concerned about whether ATS is part of some sort of government operation is to simply assume it is and act accordingly. Assume everything you post here is monitored, not because we ARE some sort of government front, but as the thread I linked to above -- posted by our own SkepticOverlord -- points out, you can pretty much assume the NSA is monitoring all traffic on the Internet, filtering it with advanced AI-based search algorithms that ultimately bump items of interest to humans for further investigation.

I imagine more than a few of the subjects we discuss here to be of interest to the U.S. government and other governments -- and that's another issue, in that it's a fair bet the U.S. government isn't the only one monitoring Internet traffic. Heck, some governments openly filter and censor it, fer Pete's sake.

The upshot being that they don't need to run ATS or have any controlling interest or connection to ATS to monitor ATS. I can't speak for other sites, but the suggestion that ATS somehow cooperates with government monitoring programs just isn't supported by the facts. That doesn't mean they don't monitor us (I assume they do, like everything else), but the idea that we are some sort of front for them doesn't hold water.

Anyway, I could go on and on about this, but one thing I've seen proven again and again is that people believe what they want to believe. Truth rarely has anything to do with it.

Still, it never hurts to offer it anyway. Just sayin'

P.S. And for those of my fellow members who may not know, it's perfectly okay for people to ask questions in the Board Business & Questions forum. If you don't like people asking questions, this isn't the best place to hang out.

Lot of good info, well presented. Nothing new to me, though...seems to fit right in to what I knew/sensed all along. Maybe it will make some others feel more at ease (or not...paranoia is a funny thing.....).

What I find most amusing, from a purely logical and rational stance is....well, that pesky paranoia bit, again.

I mean...every so often we get a "blast mail" (I call them them that....Admins call them something else. "Mass U2U". Like last month, yet another general message.. For routine and interesting announcements, new threads, etc.

Apparently, a snapshot is taken of the last 30-days activity of members who've logged in, and the mass private message goes to them. Last Nov 13th, for instance, another milestone for ATS was reached.

In the message (like something posted on the internal bulletin board, for all members to read) were some metrics.

Of course, the casual non-member readers don't see those....but, even the 30-day snapshot? Total in that particular period was only 13,676!

Members active, at least ONCE, in a period of 30 days. Compare to day-to-day statistics (members signed on, any particular moment in time)....and you see, despite the "size" and "popularity" of ATS....in the grand scheme of WORLD WIDE AFFAIRS, it is less than a pea shooter!! (sorry....)

Granted, as mentioned, there are numbers of "hits", by those "looky-loos", just passing by, not yet members. But, still...small numbers, compared to the overall WORLD population....

Would seem that some of the paranoia is unwarranted, and displays an inflated sense of self-worth, in terms of any imagined "government" oversight or scrutiny. AND, surely there is less than zero "concern" from said governments, about any supposed "leaking" here....especially with those small percentages.

Besides.....just a smattering of some really off-the-wall subjects, and there is far more of an amusement/entertainment factor, than "leakage" or "spillage of secrets", would seem to me...

Or alternatively we could speculate that you and the other ATS staff members only "think" you're not "in on it" when unbeknownst to the staff members, the NSA, NID, NWO operatives, and I'm sure some other secret alphabet PTB snuck in while you were sleeping, and implanted mind control devices in your brains that you don't even know about! So that thread you deleted that TPTB didn't want us to see? The mind control device was engaged when you did that so that's why you don't remember it!

OK I suppose that's another possibility, but it's sure more fun to believe the mind control scenario than the boring old truth

Seriously though, the best advice in your post is to assume EVERYTHING on the internet (all sites) is monitored, which to some extent, it probably is. Some areas on ATS might get scrutinized more closely...for example, I suspect that the thread about photos from groom lake was occasionally checked to see if any classified photos from groom lake ever actually appeared in the thread. As long as it was a decades old photo of a declassified F-117 or something like that while it was being tested at Groom Lake, they might let it slide, but if someone was to post a photo from groom lake of a currently classified project, there would be consequences. However I suspect they don't even allow private cameras there at all so I doubt anyone would have such a photo.

"The rules are pretty straight forward"

As always, the problem is not the rules, it is how they're applied or not applied.

"Swearing is a shortcut to thinking...if you cannot make an articulate post without the need to toss in curse words, then perhaps a board for intellectual discussions is not for you"

Actually, a board for "intellectual discussions" is not for a lot of people on this site.

"I have yet to visit a site on the internet that is not some sort of agenda based design. Keeping out those who disagree with the main views and any view other than what the majority have is against the rules. Maybe ATS is the same. I suspect it probably is."

Since the site is run by human beings and since most, if not all, human beings have an agenda (especially those who pretend not to), I suspect you're correct in your assessment.

"Perhaps it would be in the higher ups best interest to have a meeting with their staff and remind them that if they are going to crucify one person they damn well better make sure posts above and below get the same treatment."

Now you're asking a bit too much from people whose censorship skills are a shade on the transparent side.

"If you feel they failed to remove another post that should have been removed, you can alert them to the post that you think should also be removed."

Thank you very much, but some of us are big boys and prefer to fight our own battles instead of hiding under Big Brother's skirt.

"Every form of communication, be it internet, cell phone, text, twitter, or any analog transmission (HAM radio) is monitored and has been for a very long time. They are gathering intelligence of internet users and others that would be willing to go to war against the NWO."

Yeah sure...the big boys are wasting their valuable resources monitoring Junior, who is in the process of starting the next Revolution from his parent's basement. If you're on this site, chances are you're not important enough to be "monitored".

"I imagine more than a few of the subjects we discuss here to be of interest to the U.S. government and other governments"

If they are, then some Governments have too much time on their hands.

"AND, surely there is less than zero "concern" from said governments, about any supposed "leaking" here....especially with those small percentages."

Yeah, they're probably too busy with the Assange and WikiLeaks soap opera right now anyway.

"Seriously though, the best advice in your post is to assume EVERYTHING on the internet (all sites) is monitored, which to some extent, it probably is."

In other words, please do us a favor and practice self-censorship so we don't have to apply our resources to censor you.

You completely missed my point, though the mods are always encouraging people to self-censor and follow the ATS T&C, as they should. And they would appreciate it if more people did that.

But that's not what I was talking about at all, I was referring to things like this:

hu-hu.facebook.com...

CIA’s investment arm In-Q-Tel is putting cash into Visible Technologies....

“Visible crawls over half a million web sites a day, scraping more than a million posts and conversations taking place on blogs, online forums, Flickr, YouTube, Twitter and Amazon. Customers get customized, real-time feeds of what’s being said on these sites, based on a series of keywords,” according to Wired.
And the keywords that the CIA or other agencies are searching for may be fully within the terms and conditions of ATS. I saw a list of the keywords they monitor, one of them is "death" and there's nothing in the ATS T&C regarding the use of that word, so no need for self censorship in this respect. The word "death" alone may not be enough to trigger anything, there is a whole list of words and my guess is that multiple hits and combinations of these words may trigger further investigation/scrutiny. We don't have all the details on how the monitoring is being done, but we know it's being monitored.

I am a good CTer. I am suspicious of everyone and everything, including ATS. But regardless, if i put all suspicions aside, ATS is the best forum I have ever come across.

It is getting a little too commercial,a nd I have seen some really bad ideas put into play. But in the end, the membership really does run the site with steady and consistent feedback, which is employed by the owners (witness the way the ATS 2010 launch went, and all the feedback and alterations that came from it...a beauty of commuincation and synergy, and a true credit to ATS management).

The T and C are not an issue for me. Tey basically outline the normal behaviors I exhibit. I don't have much trouble with them at all, as they are completely transparent in my daily posting.

some people are just a little whiney, and they like to cry to moderators in order to get some kind of smug but worthless satisfaction, kind of like the elementary school tattle tell that we all remember. not all of us are like this though. people preach about intelligent debate but they end up googling big words they can use to sound smart and resorting to petty attacks like grammar and spelling. personally i respect everyones views and opinions and how they choose to present it, but i understand certain rules. but i agree some take it too far, and some people are stupid and nerdy and think ats points and stars actually mean something in the real world, which they don't. these types just don't have a lot going on otherwise, so ignore them. see you around, peace.

You forgot ('zorgot'??) a few...

MI5, MI6, MI7 (allegedly)....MI8 (the lesser known 'alphabet agency')....the KGB (oh? You thought they were disbanded? Think again...). Yeah, new letters..."GRU". Sure.

Our neighbours to the North ("Blame Canada!!"): RCMP, CSIS, CISC and DND.

Other "crown" members....the Aussies, and the ASIS (my favourite...."as is"....LOL!) But, their more "serious" counterpart, the DIO? No jokes there, mate!! G'Day....

Gosh...even the Swiss!! (Armed with their pretty, and very handy, "army knives"....): The SND.

Jim Phelps, and the IMF.
Also, let's not discount 'KAOS' (Maxwell Smart is on it)....SMERSH (ditto, 007)....

On the lighter side.....

Less involved with surveillance, but none the less still important (and ET-related);

CLIT --- (Coalition for the Liberation of Invertebrate Terrestrials), and
