Ok, Somebody please help me identify what I
captured on my digital camera.

First off, the camera is a Canon SX-120.
I am not a pro cameraman just have one around
to take family pics and such.
It's not a pro camera but it's all I had available
when I got these shots.

I went out the house around 5:00 am, 11/24/2010
and was going to get in my vehicle to go get me
a fresh homemade biscuit for breakfast and I
looked up and saw this light in the sky. I ran back
inside and grabbed my camera and came out and
took some photos. The light appeared in a southeasterly
direction from me. I have the original photos from the
camera d/l but I have edited them to resize for presentation
here on ATS.

photo #1 - original

photo #2 - original - camera zoomed

photo #2 - edit zoomed

This thing moved behind the trees so I couldn't take pics
of it anymore and I was headed out anyway so I jumped
in the vehicle and tried to drive down the road to get a better
shot and stopped on the side of the road and took another shot.

photo #3 - original
[atsimg]http://files.abovetopsecret.com/images/member/3b104a5fd564.jpg[/atsimg]

photo #3 - half zoomed to show light pole on left to show object size
[atsimg]http://files.abovetopsecret.com/images/member/e48e25f1ae92.jpg[/atsimg]

photo #3 - edit zoomed
[atsimg]http://files.abovetopsecret.com/images/member/c474a1c87de6.jpg[/atsimg]

There was no sound at all and you might be able
to tell from pic #3 that there was a town underneath it
from the light glow over the treeline. I do not know if
anybody else saw this or not. But there was a car pass me
on the highway while I was taking pic #3, you can see
it's tail lights to the bottom left.

Weather conditions: 55 degrees, scattered clouds
Location: Southeastern North Carolina

So is this Venus or some other planet in our
solar system? Or maybe the ISS? Or were
my eyes playing tricks on me?
Or is my camera malfunctioning?
What is this ??? It's true I don't have
great eyesight like I use to so I
may be missing something.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

boon

If you look at something hard enough it can be anything. Realistically, its just a light on a tree.

There are many other phenomena that are difficult to explain, but that could just be a bug zapper....

i am nooo expert but i will say it liojs to bright to be a plane to big to be a satellite. and seems mishalfpen for a planet

And what, the tree broke loose and followed him down the road, floating in midair invisibly?
Did you look at the last three pics where the light is floating independently in the sky?

Boondock, I have no idea what that is, but I'm sure someone will come along with a story for you to believe.

It is very odd looking, and I would have been very excited to catch that on film!

yea, I was hoping Phage would come on here
and give me the whole nine yards of what
it is. Some stellar burst or some planet
or something. But I haven't seen him
yet.

it might be Venus.
It's kind of an odd shape for Venus
though. But my eyes aren't what
they use to be.

But how funny(and ironic) would it be if he decided THIS was , in fact, a Chinese Missile?

Admit it dude, that would be hilarious, eh?

Otherwise, cool pic and good luck identifying it.

lmao,
that would be hilarious.
Then of course, we'd get into
a debate about whether this
thing had a contrail or not, etc... etc...
u know me and Phage

But seriously, i think it's something
that can be explained away like
Venus or something. It's already
been mentioned

Yo Boondock,
Was this in the same direction as where the boom noise (from your other thread) was coming from?
Have you seen this before?
Nice find.

SnF

I do not know what direction the booms
were coming from so I don't know.

As far as seeing this before?
No

Both of your photos are slightly blurry, so it could be just a single point of light, and the odd shape of the light may be caused by camera movement.

The light may have been a plane with its bright landing light on. There may have been no sound because the plane was quite a distance away.

I have a clear view of the south from my house, which is the approach route for planes coming to our local regional airport. I see single bright white lights every night (without hearing sound), but those single bright lights are simply planes about 10 or 15 miles away flying towards me making an approach before turning towards the airport.

The atmosphere itself can produce some wierd
sightings of NORMAL things..
So IF!! it is venus, the the shape could be due
to atmospheric distortion.

I wish it isnt....
