You totally overlook the fact that those idiots can bring down the entire economy, therefore harming EVERYONE, not just themselves. I didn't buy a
house I couldn't afford, I didn't buy cars I couldn't afford...but I DID lose my job because some idiots did. Why was that possible? DEREGULATION!
Since Reagan, this allowed corporations systematically to dismantel our rights and protection. In 1976, the top 1% in the US banked 9% of total GDP.
This percentage has risen to 24% now!! Wealth hasn't been as unequally distributed since before the great depression. Where did the money we created
go since Reagan? Well, 4/5ths went to the top 1%. In addition, corporations now have rights like individuals. The whole "less taxes" and easier life
for corporations because it trickles down to the "regular people" theory is total hogwash...but sadly it's what Palin and a lot of her "friends"
advocate. Free market works in THEORY, but it assumes people act rationally, which as we know, ISN'T THE CASE!
Look, I'm not arguing that the stupid people are at fault for buying stuff they couldn't afford. I worked as a head fund manager (real estate
division) before the crisis, I've seen PLENTY of bad investments being made. And I don't feel sorry for those people who lost money because they made
stupid decisions. BUT, it's not fair or just that people who had no part in this suffer now. What about the small corner shop around the corner who
now desperately needs a renovation, but because some idiots destroyed the banking system he can't get a loan now? He did nothing wrong, but idiots
ruined his shop and are costing him money.
You are falling for Palin the puppet. Just like many politicians (Rep/Dem/TP) she's nothing but a puppet using dumbed-down slogans to trick the people
into believing she's "one of them". You claim she's doing groceries herself, doing the laundry, fishing, hunting...like you. Tell me, which % of
Americans fishes and hunts?? It's a small minority, and the rest just buy into the "pretty picture" of a "typical American life" as they believe it
SHOULD be. She's quit her job as governor early because she realized she could make more money elsewhere. Money is what keeps her going, and believing
otherwise just shows how naive you are.
So you believe she represents you??
- The right is all in favour of extending tax cuts for the rich, but blocked a bill earlier this year that would have resulted in tax cuts for the
middle class (aka the majority).
- The right blocked a bill that would have prevented off-shore companies to evade US taxes. That money would have been used to help 911 first
responders who still suffer from illnesses years after the event!!
The only reason to vote for her is if you're:
A) A dumb brainwashed sheep who doesn't care about content and only responds to buzz words related to "fishing" or "god".
C) A corporation
E) Ignorant about facts
Having said that, I seriously hope she runs as president in 2012 because it would make Jon Stewart's job so much easier
The fact remains, it's this deregulation that also gave rise to strong lobbyists. It's what caused politicians to no longer work for the people, but
rather for corporations. Look how great that worked out for us...
