Besides decent paying jobs, I'm just curious, not trying to start a flame war.
What do you guy's sell on the global market?

I live in BC Canada and know that our BC-Bud accounts for a couple billion per yr, and believe it or not...it does trickle down and helps are local economy in a huge way...Very huge way!

We still have vast forestry and commercial fishing, but those industries have suffered over the years.
We do have mineral and oil deposits.
We have a huge housing bubble that is just about ready to pop.
We have a household debt to income ratio that would absolutely blow your mind.
China stopped buying our scrap cars, so recycling is out.

I think we're in trouble here.

there is a portal for that information: www.export.gov...

I might dig through it a bit as I am curious myself.

There is really only one that matters and that is JOBS! That is the biggest export the US has anymore and that is really sad.

The majority of our exports are agriculture in nature. Seriously no one knew that? It's the only thing this country subsidizes.

Well, the price of orange juice these days could certainly justify that comment.
But how are the other states fairing?

I guess you could say that the US is exporting our military to other countries. I guess it depends on how you look at it.

To be honest I have a brother in law that works for Tropicana in Fla. and you would be surprised at what he told me. Tropicana imports a lot of the oranges they use for orange juice from South America. Brazil is where they get the most from and that is because they get them for such a cheap price they are making it tough for the orange farmers to keep up. That is why so many of them are selling their lands for development. That is truly sad to say the least. I am pretty sure we import more than we export anymore.

It depends on which ones they are. States like mine can only balance their budgets because of the big corporations moving here every year since we don't have labor laws or unions. We pay them thousands upon thousands to locate here and give them state tax amnesty for a few years, then give them super cheap labor to boot and then the state gets to recoup the thousands they sent out from the employees they hire at 1/3 of what they were paying people where they moved from.

So yah, employee pay taxes, money gets given to corps, corps hires workers, workers repay state.

As far as how the states are doing? The majority are failing since they have no Fed to print money for them and they actually have to try and balance their budget. My state barely balanced it this year, next year there is no way in Hades they'll be able to.

I guess they shouldn't have insured crops for more than they brought to market. I knew a tobacco farmer who let his crops fail 3 out of 4 years on a cycle because he actually made more writing them off as a loss than he would actually selling them.

Many...but I'd say the principal export would be Tax Payer Dollars...

I don't doubt that. Like I said above, the Fed gov't insure some crops for higher prices than they bring to market. We'll never be able to buy things inside the US for cheaper than we will from over seas unless we jack up the import taxes. Corn is our bread and butter crop. It's by far the best if not only thing that we still hold a competitive edge in the markets.
