This is True . They don't Call it the " Boob Tube " for Nothing . Anything people view on Television is Nothing more than Staged Theater . It is there to Entertain you , not Inform you about the " Real World " out there . The " Real World " is Real by the way , just open your Front Door and go look at it..........

No, there is no symmetry that you are implying exists. You see, Stewart does not commit the plethora of logical fallacies in his presentations the way FOX does. Try to think, it's a refreshing experience.

Ah so your game is that you dislike Beck and prefer Stewart and anyone who doesn't share your specific interpretation is bereft of judgment and thought?

How very Glen Beck of you.

on both sides! I like both Heff's and buddhasystem's above statements. That exchange gave me a good chuckle.

There ratings are a little high. The channel seems to be walking the streets, filling the offices, working at the stores, attending the churches, working at the hospitals, ....

I can't change the channel in peoples' heads very easily. It seems their views are contagious, even when they are blatent disinformation and misinformation and pandering of malformed logic.

People think they are being told the truth from Fox, and they are not, and these attitudes carry out into everyday life and into the hearts and minds of millions across America.

This not only concerns me and my personal safety, but more importantly it concerns the personal safety of my fellow citizens and their ability and moral to efficiently participate freely in their own society.

Free speech does not include the right to intentionally decieve the public; but Fox News does just that every day.

PLEASE Do not let their narrative define for you what you believe.

Pleasantries,

Please provide places where Jon Stewart actually participates in logical fallacies (except when it's obviously in the name of comedy).

It has been repeatedly demonstrated that Glenn Beck lies on top of his logical fallacies.

Unfortunately, I cannot do that for everyone who watches this blatantly deceitful tripe. Actually, that's an insult to tripe because some people enjoy cow's stomach.

Fox News diminishes the understanding of those who watch the news, I can't abide by that.

I tend to take a more reasonable approach to the issue of people deceived by Fox News.

They're ignorant because they choose to use a single news source and then form an emotional attachment to their positions that they form from that news source. They think that the information they're getting is right and they're well intentioned for the most part, but they're wrong.

Fine, but it all amonts to being DEAF, DUMB, AND BLIND.

Eventually these individuals will lead this country to danger becasue of their ignorance and accepting anything the country does becasue it is their country., and that attitude typifies fox news.
Thats what the Germens did in World War II when they allowed a maniacle tyrant to have power.

www.youtube.com...

I believe that video speaks for itself.

Besides... I thought most of us here at ATS were under the impression that the mainstream media tends to lie about everything anyway? They all do it, so let's drop the left and right paradigm from now on shall we? They're just two sides of the same corrupt and manipulative coin.
That video is from a year ago. Have any recent examples?

They are ignorant because they believe that Congress is somehow "controlled" by Republicans, even though Democrats have been in control of Congress since 2006.

They are ignorant because they believe that Nancy Pelosi has the most "Ethical Congress Evah" even though most of her top deputies and most of the CBC (Congressional Black Caucus) is up on ethics charges.

They are ignorant because they believe Obama "inherited" this "recession" even though Obama was in the US Senate and VOTED for all the bailouts and TARP.

They are ignorant because they believe that Obama was going to be some great Post-Racial President even though he has done more to hurt race relations (remember the "Cops 'acted' stupidly?" and dropping the New Black Panthers Voter Intimidation case).

Blue Pill, anyone?

And yes, I learned all these things from watching Fox News.

Well, let's look and see what America thinks about "Fox News"

Logical fallacy: Argument ad populum.

The truth isn't based on popular vote, it's based on demonstrable facts. The Daily Show regularly demonstrates that Fox News lies and does other silly things.

One other thing: Shark week consistently beats Fox News in prime time ratings.

So, Fox News consistently kicks all the other "News Stations" butts, but I'm supposed to listen to you? I don't think so.

Nope, I guess we're supposed to be listening to the sharks as they're more popular than Bill O'Reilly and Glenn Beck.

Oh wait, popularity doesn't determine the truth of statements, so I guess it doesn't matter how many viewers they get.

Jon Stewart's a partisan hack comedianne

Logical fallacy: Argument ad hominem

Calling him a 'partisan hack comedianne (sic)' doesn't do anything to discredit his points as they stand on their own merit. Did you bother watching even one of the videos? Care to address any points he makes?

and, who cares what you think?

I put forth an honest objection to the way Fox News does business. They openly lie and form narratives to support certain views, even when doing such fudges facts.

By your logic, let's look at some numbers.
You have 49 flags, I have 415
You have 44 stars, I have 4039
You have a WATS index of 0, mine is 8
You have no applause, I have 23.

Does this make my opinion more valid than yours? Absolutely not, it just means I'm more active on ATS.

Ratings don't equal truth.

They are ignorant because they believe that Congress is somehow "controlled" by Republicans, even though Democrats have been in control of Congress since 2006.

Except in instances regarding parliamentary procedure. If you read over the Constitution, a minority can easily exert control in certain instances, particularly at stages of committee.

They are ignorant because they believe that Nancy Pelosi has the most "Ethical Congress Evah" even though most of her top deputies and most of the CBC (Congressional Black Caucus) is up on ethics charges.

Excuse me, but can you provide evidence that people think this is the most ethical Congress in history?
And that the majority of the CBC is up on ethics charges?

They are ignorant because they believe Obama "inherited" this "recession" even though Obama was in the US Senate and VOTED for all the bailouts and TARP.

Um...he did inherit it. He may have voted for TARP, but TARP wasn't the cause of the recession or the bailouts, they were responses.

They are ignorant because they believe that Obama was going to be some great Post-Racial President even though he has done more to hurt race relations (remember the "Cops 'acted' stupidly?" and dropping the New Black Panthers Voter Intimidation case).

I'm sorry, but can you actually demonstrate this with facts and statistics?

And yes, I learned all these things from watching Fox News.

I'm sure you did. You probably also learned that he's a socialist. Having once been a socialist, he is clearly not one.

I mean, it's the same network that said the Ground Zero Mosque was funded by this shady guy...that happened to be a major stock holder in Fox News and someone that has actually been interviewed in studio...hmm...

Try watching the links.

Nice straw man, but I didn't say anything about limiting speech, I simply pointed out that Fox News lies.

I've already addressed this. If an insanely popular news station spread lies, I suffer whether or not I watch it. A misinformed populace hurts me when they start voting based on misinformation.

The truth cannot be dependent on popular vote.

E = mc^2
It stands up to objections. If 51% of people disagreed with it, they'd be wrong. If 100% of people disagreed with it, they'd still be wrong.
Now, if 1 person came up with demonstrable proof that it was false, that 1 person would be right.

Unless you can demonstrate that all of the claims made by Jon Stewart on "The Daily Show" about Fox News are false it would be best that you stop commenting on the subject.
