Great info. Great pictures. Lived in L.A. for a long time and saw the rigs on Slauson and at the beach but never knew the rest of story. Wonder if the people in Bel Air know about this slant drilling. Seems kind of dangerous in such an earthquake prone area and Bel Air was hit hard in some specific and peculiar sections during the Northridge quake. Some homes just partially slid down the mountain.
Knew about the cell towers because a palm tree one went up just across the street while I was gone for several days. That was some months ago and now the 2 real palm trees next to it are wilted and actually leaning over like they're dying. They're old trees too - very tall, almost as tall (before drooping) as the tower. It's always good to be reminded of the dangers we take for granted.

Oil rigs inside sound proofed silos!!!! That sort of tomfoolery makes me think what else am I missing in my day to day zombie shuffle.
I mean honestly we are so unconscious and tuned out most of the time, at least I know I am. Especially when I am driving a regular route. What else are we missing? Makes me worry. But I suppose the saying is dead on, "if you aren't worried you aren't paying attention."
There seems to be so many different levels of reality that we function in, truth just seems like a matter of perspective.edit on 10-10-2010 by KaliPrime because: ...

Good for them though, sounds like they have a perfect off the grid kind of life!
#2 Missile Silos: So where do I sign up for one of these? It would make the perfect zombie
apocalypse bunker. Can you imagine all the food you could store where the
government kept the missile?
This was a great post : )
Thank you!

For months Stuyvesant Town residents have been complaining about a droning hum that has made their apartments nearly unlivable. Management had dismissed the noise as an isolated insect infestation but a group of tenants unsatisfied with the improbable conclusion have discovered hundreds of illegal cell phone towers on the roofs of Stuyvesant Town. Tenants living near 331 First Avenue first noticed the noise shortly after the 110-building housing complex was purchased by Tishman Speyer back in 2006. "At first it was just mildly annoying and we assumed it was coming from the escort service run out of our neighbor's apartment," an irritated tenant tells us. "Then the noise became unbearable. It's impossible to sleep and the other night I walked into the kitchen and all of my pots and pans were stuck to the ceiling because of some magnetic force field!" Hundreds of calls were placed to Stuyvesant Town and within days management began telling tenants they had investigated the noise and said it was emanating from an infestation of "angry bees" that have taken over the building. Suspicious of Tishman Speyer's unusually quick and seemingly honest response, tenants decided to do some investigating on their own and took to the roof of the vibrating building. Much to their surprise they didn't find angry bees but hundreds of illegal cell phone towers that appeared to be property of T-Mobile which has a retail store at the same address. "I was shocked to see so many towers," a tenant tells us. "It's no wonder they don't let us on the roofs anymore, look what they've been hiding." Other tenants fear Tishman Speyer is abusing the Patriot Act and listening in on their conversations to evict tenants. "I was on my cell phone the other day making plans to join a friend while she went apartment hunting," says Alice O' Conner, a tenant residing near the cell tower forest. "The next day I got an eviction notice because of my new primary residence. They're insane!" Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney isn't surprised. "Companies like Tishman Speyer will do whatever they can to make a profit, even at the expense of the health and well-being of their residents. Cell towers on the roofs of residential properties are illegal because we don't yet know the health and environmental impact they have." When asked for comment on the cell tower controversy Tishman Speyer spokesman, Bud Perrone stated, "Cell phones? I'm still trying to figure out why my telegraph stopped working. Quit bugging me!"
