Oh for Petes sake. To what end are we waiting? For it to be made right? It gets more wrong every day. This is absurd. This land is my land. This land is your land...and that includes the damned beaches.

I don't think children, or anyone else, should be playing in that sand or the water, because it is my belief the area in a bio-hazard ticking time bomb. But have uniforms come out and tell people, who are obviously clear minded & of legal age, they can't dig in sand? Are there signs posted? Is anything protected there? Clealy humans haven't reached the endangered species list. Although every day I thinking more and more we should be. How insane is that? Aren't there real crimes, real infractions these people should be attending too? Who pays them? Those are their employers & the only people to whom they should be accountable.

In my youth we, having very serious intellectual conversations, ( at least that's what we told our selves) spoke of the end of liberty. I've got to say, this never occured to me. Corrupution yes. Stupidity yes. War, probably. But this? We are going down the tubes because a powerful corporation made some really stupid decisions. This is crazy.

Just so you guys know, digging has been outlawed on beaches here in California for 10 years or more.

Here is an article from 2000:
articles.latimes.com...

The reason for it is because holes in the sand are hard to see. People running and walking would break their ankles and sometimes legs because they would step into a hole without seeing it first. People would fall into these holes, including life guards and their vehicles, kids, elderly, etc..So life guards have been telling people to cover their holes, and no digging past a certain depth.

But, I'm not worried about the law as much as I am worried about the literal cover up on the beaches. BP isn't cleaning up, they are covering it up with sand. That is just pathetic.

Just thought I'd let you all know...

Of course we live in a police state, brought on by the masses unto themselves. The problem is, it is painful to live in America right now as a part of the younger generation, because they *believe* in being sheep.

Look around. It is especially obvious with the coming generation, unable to think for themselves, they resort to group thinking. Thinking for oneself or critical thinking are not valued anymore, in fact they are probably on the verge of being labeled traitorous.

Watch, in the news, this kind of thing where a person tries to think for him or herself will be twisted around so that the person who is trying to find out the truth is labeled insane and a terrorist, no one in the media will even question the police state.

This lack of freedom is actually more of a left-wing phenomenon, if one wants proof a few posters ironically proved the point already, the "liberals" are the ones that I have seen promoting their agenda of micromanaging and lack of free thinking.

They also slowly break up families, churches and anything else that could offer a stronghold for opposing viewpoints and then attack men, free thinking and free speech until all that is left are a bunch of gossiping neuters unable to do anything for themselves. I am not being gender biased here, I am telling the truth based upon what I have observed in the world and also articles I have read, one in a recent "Newsweek" for example.

I'm not sure I can find solace with conservatives, necessarily, because I believe in many socialist ideals - just not micromanaging and taking away freedom.

Since when did it become illegal to take a video in a public park unless you have a press pass???? This is just stupid, don't WE own the parks? I want to see them stop me from videoing something on MY property.

I'm a new comer here, have been reading for the past few months and am quite shocked by this footage and more 1st person reports on other incidents, more the same. Show me the law? Legal stature that they claim to have to not dig that deep? It's BS totally in my book. I'm not rich, but would be willing to fork over some $ of what I work for to bring this shat storm down. It's OUR beaches, OUR homes, OUR country. It's OURS!, we have the power united, but they spend so much as of now we're / divided."

I know a man, he was sheik of Muhammad, no points, just play cate. In the end, it was BS, he denounce I founded, too late did I say, you passed it on, oh! snap; no love turns to your hate?

Hard for me to crystalize the total outcome, feelings in the end been crossed. I won't be a keepers crossing, a swallow to tell the end of the truths.

I think we should go down to these beaches in numbers, by the 100's, and just start digging holes and exsposing the oil under the sand,...they couldn't stop us all!! That's the problem with most people, too scared to stand up, if we (the people) stood up to the government at once, I think we would be a force to recon with, I mean seriously, think about it, the American People stand up against the government....the government wouldn't stand a chance!

I was thinking the same thing. Some Radio station should sponsor a sand castle competition at the public beaches all around the Gulf Coast that is affected and offer prizes. It would be a fun day at the beach. With smartphones these days HD video can be streaming on the net live. Lots of people have them. Hard to contain that much live broadcasting.

If I was there I'd build a nice tradiotional castle with a flaming tarball moat. 1st Prize

I agree that you guys should go there in a large mass. Keep the cameras rolling and post to youtube. They can't arrest everyone for the heinous 'crime' of digging in the sand.

I'm in Panama City Beach right now. Took pics this morning of people on the beach collecting samples (wearing gloves, etc.). I've been here since the 17th and this is the first time I've seen this activity here. Also took a pic of what looked like a Naval vessel out in the gulf early this morning (tried to zoom, etc. but don't have decent software on this laptop). If anyone would like to clean up (sharpen, zoom, crop, etc.) my pics, U2U me and I'll send you my originals (each pic is about 1.5mb).

why are you people acting surprised that the government is taking the side of a huge corporation over the american people? is this shocking to you? is this news?

They are obviously affraid of people finding out that the oil is still there. This is preposterous and I can't believe that they will get away with this, though I can't believe most of the things that our corrupt government and their corporate puppet masters get away with.

To me, this only confirms that they are doing whatever it takes to hide that oil. Free country? Yeah right. So long are the days of government for, by and of the people. So long freedom, liberty and justice. Hello fascisit, authoritarian, nanny-state. These days, even the most dimnwitted sheeple can see that freedom, liberty and justice are only buzz-words, designed to make us think we are more civilized than our communist neighbors.

Just to clarify, the '6 inch rule' being implemented here in relates specifically this beach which is a state park.

Yes, the 6 inch law is BS red tape meant to keep people from investigating, but there are numerous posts in this thread that imply that people arent even reading the article or listening to the video to see it is not a rule being applied to ALL beaches.

Yes I know the 6inch rule was specific to that beach I'm saying that all beaches in the affected areas should be investigated and dig down a decent depth to determine the level of contamination. Just to double check that BP is telling the truth. And what better way than to do that by having a sandcastle building competition. Gets the public involved in a fun way and also is investigatory. Find out the truth and either confirm peoples suspicions or put them to rest..

I've got an idea. How about one of those manual drills that are designed to take samples of ground / ice? The hole they make is very small like 1 inch in diameter and they can go deep. That isn't digging and the hole cannot be considered such as the law is against holes you can fall into.

It will get worse before it get better.
People please, don't get into trouble, don't give the dogs chance to bite, irrational gut-fueled rage is what they want the "smart" ones to feel, so when they go marching down justice avenue with torches and speeches, get taken out by the snipers first, without a head the body dies, drowned by fear and indifference...

There must be other ways... But where? When? by Whom?

who knows, but America, you have changed, everything pointed at this, but I refused to believe, I thought we would have much more sense in the long haul//

Don't get in trouble? We're already in trouble the scope of which I don't think we've seen half of...we have a right to get answers. These people work for us. Even BP, in a way, is beholding to the American people. They screwed up..not us. Yes. We all know we use something like 85% of the resources. We suck down oil like mothers milk & we should be making changes. If nothing else this disaster has shown us that. And we have to accept some of the responsibility for all of this. Before we can do that we have to know what all of this is, and no one is talking. When they do speak it's nonsense. Clamping down an iron fist has never worked well for Americans in the long run & it isn't working now. If our press is silenced, and attempts have been made to do that..but if it happens people are going to be left with their imagination. If knowledge is power, silence is deadly. We need to be informed.

This is our country. I want to see a peaceful resolution to this crisis. I fear at some point we are going to have to take a stand and say ENOUGH.

I agree on your views, but lets be honest, what can you possibly gain in jail?
who will you help realize the lie we live in in a holding cell for homebrew "terrorists"?

We work for them, ideally they would work for us, but that is not the case, it hasn't been the case for many many years now.

Change will come on a personal basis, getting educated, learning all we can, being prepared, learning to adapt, not inviting the vampire in your house, and leaving him the hose keys, which is exactly what we have done...

strange days on planet earth, time to change as well.
This affects the whole human race not just us.
