An anti-tax, anti-government Tea Party has set up shop in Australia, inspired by the US-based movement that has turned the Republican Party upside down.

The Australian T.E.A. Party (an acronym for Taxed Enough Already) will be targeting pre-selections across the country and heavily promotes its links to "our friends" in the United States.

Reluctant spokesman David Goodridge - "just call me the website editor" - says the grassroots movement has no plans to register as a political party, won’t stand candidates and won’t accept politicians as members.

Oh boy, America has really been screwing up Australia in the past decade. They have taken a liking to our culture of fast food and television, now we are giving them the TEA Party. Can I say on behalf of all the American Left, We are truly sorry.

It says that the TEA Party of Australia has no figurehead, but apparently they really like Queensland Premier Joh Bjelke-Peterson, similar to the American verson of Sarah Palin.

In his first post on the T.E.A. Party’s website, Mr Goodridge argues that between big business and unions there is "a distinction without a difference in that the average Aussie is getting done over it is just a different set or subset of rapists doing the screwing".

I love 'politically incorrect'.

How can you call them a Party when the state in your OP that they will not elect candidates?

Its just a few people with an opinion, like the 1000's of such groups that pop up all around the world.

Hardly woth a thread on ATS and quite missleading in the Title.

When you use an article from an outside source ATS requires you to use the title of that source.

It was not my opinion, pay attention.

Ahh, I see you missed the memo. This is world-wide "sling mud at anyone who isn't an American liberal democrat or the equivalent for other countries" month. Mud-slinging festivities are planned daily for at least the next two weeks, possibly the next two months if enough people join the fun. Beer garden's out back. Horseshoes are to the east. And the "Egg a politician" booth is being set up in that big tent over there. Don't forget to buy a t-shirt to show your mud-slinging support!

I wouldn't wish Rupert Murdoch on my worste enemy and that is how you treat a supposed friend? You deserve everything you get from us Australia! Let's send them Palin, Beck and Limbaugh. That should make things even.

Prime Minister Sarah Palin sounds like a good payback.

What's wrong with being a liberal democrat?

Are you people really that polarized by a label? What if I were a handsome, self-made liberal democrat?

I've poked fun at the TPM but I actually wish them the best; and here's why...

The TPM has morphed into a marketing Juggernaut with conservative politics as nothing more than the
framework to hang all the ugly merchandise on.

www.cafepress.com...

And I must confess; I saw this coming a year ago and invested a fair amount of coin in different ad agencies that cater to this type of marketing of political crap. Buy that stuff, help make a liberal wealthy.

With just a little capital, a little knowledge, and a whole lot of awareness; a savvy entrepreneur can get filthy rich. You can also lose your shirt and wind up in chapter 11 as I have done on more than a few occasions. financial-dictionary.thefreedictionary.com... This time yeehawww!

God bless the American free enterprise system. OZ you're next!!
