Funny how anyone with a belief in God is automatically labeled a "right wing nut job."

It's pathetic the sheer magnitude that those will go to when trying to discredit and twist the principles and ideals that the country was founded upon. Freedom was one, I grant you that, but you should fact check to see what types of freedom our foudners were after.

I'm not drinking your kool-aid.

Why because she said something Christian on a MTV show in the 90's? while If she would shake her butt and talk about how many men she was sleeping with, she would be a hailed as a empowered female (providing she was Liberal) If She was acting like the Mom in Carrie, yes I would say she is crazy, but because she had moral beliefs when she was young about self-love, then NO I don't find her insane.

Yeah, you're right. Taking advice from a man in the clouds about not touching yourself. Not insane at all. There is no mental issue going on once so ever. None.

I dunno, I didn't see any "man in the clouds" there. I thought I watched pretty close, but I'll check it again just to be sure. I DID see a hot chick that didn't want me to start 'till she gets there, too, and for the life of me I can't see that as a BAD thing...

And don't use the "oh it was the 90's" excuse. There is no defending this woman, especially if she's associated with the Tea Baggers.

Yeah, I'm not voting for that Clinton family from the 90's, either. They seemed to have some sexual problems too, as I recall - Billy had to find it SOMEWHERE, now didn't he?

Got it, no problem. Come to think of it, he was from AR, wasn't he? That's in the south, right? You KNOW how "those people" are about their sweet tea, don't you? Hell, I bet they even have a bag in there somewhere when they're making it.... frakkin' commies!

I've only made it through the first two pages of this thread. I'm not entirely sure how many pages are on here at this point, but I really need to say something. I'm not normally a spelling nazi on forums, but it pains me to sit here and watch people consistently misspell something that I treasure so very, very much.

Please, it's spelled masturbation.

And it's truly a beautiful thing.

Nobody should knock masterbation its sex with someone you love.
And the US was formed after the revolution sponsored by the French which most people on the Right hate.
I guess they could allways rename France "Freedom" after Freedom fries!

By the way, I found it funny when the marketing director of S.A.L.T claims masturbation is a selfish act.

That's right, O'Donnell associates herself with these kind of people.

Keep religious of politics. Especially the bible thumping wackos.

Thanks.

You GO, baby! Lets not elect anyone but the bible BASHING wackos! Let's put that religious test right into the constitution! You know, the one it BANS currently? Ah hell, who needs that old thing any how? It's just a "goddamn piece of paper", right?

Or is it parchment?.... Lamb skin....

Nah, I ain't going THERE!

Having read the article, the different posts and seeing how those elected have acted, this is what I believe is going on, and why this canidate may very well win.
If she is true to her beliefs and have absolutely nothing else, then I would vote for her. Her views may seem a bit too far to the religious moral side of nature, but right now is that such a bad thing? Is someone who is that religious and moral, then the question must be asked, would she lie, cheat and steal from the voters in her district? Or will she be the start of something greater, where the honor and integrety of a person elected to represent the people, is beyond reproach and someone that everyone can look to as a symbol.
Government has been called a sacred duty and honor for those who hold those positions and for far to long, the incumbents who are sitting in those chairs have gotten away from the actual values and ideas that got them elected to office in the first place. This is a canidate that we should pay attention to, but at the same time do not just ignore her opponent, as the question must be asked, what is his views, and where does he stand on the issues, both publically and morally.
In this current day and age, the canidate that is on a moral high ground and above reproach, who actually is going to tell the truth and follow through is the canidate that may very well get elected.

Following college, O'Donnell went to work for Enough is Enough, a Washington, D.C.-based anti-pornography group.

Served as a spokesperson for Concerned Women for America, a Conservative Christian political action group which seeks to apply biblical principles to issues of public policy.

1996 discussion on CNN, O'Donnell advocated the teaching of creationism in public schools and argued for a literal interpretation of The Bible's Book of Genesis. O'Donnell has rejected Charles Darwin's theory of evolution, asserting that it "had not met scientific criteria" and that "when you get down to the hard evidence, it's merely a theory.

Shes is already having an effect on me religiously. Because im praying she does not win. We have more important things to worry about than whats on her agenda. Masturbation, prayer in school, antiabortion and teaching the bible in school is not high on the list. Sorry!

www.weeklystandard.com...

Citing "Mental Anguish," Christine O'Donnell Sought $6.9 Million in Gender Discrimination Lawsuit Against Conservative Group...and falsely implied she was taking master's degree classes at Princeton.

O'Donnell claimed that ISI had caused her to suffer "mental anguish, loss of enjoyment of life, mental and physical pain and anguish"--and that, according to an amended complaint, she had to "seek treatment for her distress."

For at least six months after being fired, Miss O’Donnell suffered enormous pain, cried frequently at the sense of personal loss and failure caused by ISI, and at the sense of injustice, and could not sleep at night, often wide-awake, replaying the whole scene in her mind, until 5:30 am, and has suffered from understandable and resulting depression.

"She has a shady history and we’re not talking ancient history," conservative radio host Dan Gaffney tells THE WEEKLY STANDARD. "We’re talking current history, and she lies about it."

"You know, everyone is allowed to have financial difficulties," Gaffney continued. "Everyone is allowed to take time to go to college. But misrepresenting yourself, lying about it, that’s what I have a problem with. I don’t understand why she has to lie about stuff she doesn’t have to lie about."

Well this article says shes a dead beat when it comes to paying her bills, sues to get rich, lies about many things and worst of all she is crazy and has sought mental help.

It's a real treat to see the double standards from the political hacks.

They are defending this woman because her ignorant and crazy comments "were made a long time ago" and "people are allowed to change", and at the same time they bash Obama for things he did or say when he was younger.

America is doomed.

I'm just having a ball watching the political hacks squirm because this is the worst thing they could find on her, and are attempting to use it in a desperate bid to paint all Tea Partiers as evil, baby-raping, right wing, christian monsters hell-bent on taking over the US based on that alone.

Oh, the tortured logic you need when there ain't a racist sign in sight!

I could care less if the woman wears an iron shod chastity belt to this very day.

I bet it would be cigar-proof, eh?

After looking very carefully at both Christine O'Donnell and Chris Coons I would like to present a comparision on what was found out about both.
Christopher A. Coons comes from Deleware, he is married with three children. He did go to Amherst College, and has a masters in Chemistry and Political Science. Yes he did travel to Kenya, and did write an articles, The Making of a Bearded Marxist. Before travelling to Kenya, he was a Republican, after returning he changed to be a Democrat. He also is a graduate from the Yale Divinety school, with a degree in Ethics. He has been involved in politics for a very long time, starting with his time at Amherst before going over to Africa, and then when he returned, he even stated that he did not believe in the American Dream.
He has served as president of county that he resides in, but there are some questionable items there, especially when it was apparent when the county was about to loose its rating, he raised taxes, but did not cut spending.
Currently the one thing that sticks out about him is that he is refered to as the Pet of Senator Harry Reid.

Christine O'Donnell comes from New Jersey, Fairleigh Dickinson University. While there, the reason why her views on morality and abstence, was formed as she found that she was drinking and having sex with men she did not have an emotional bond to. Kind of like a revelation of a sort that hit her. While in college she became a republican. She worked for different morality groups and got heavier into politics, but has not held any position of real power. She continued on with her education as well. The one thing in her past, is the number of times she has failed to uphold on her financial obligations that tends to be a bit of a worry, as it should be.

So there are the choices, one is a carrerr politican going to back the current adminstration and continue on with business as usual in DC and the other is a bit too far to the right when it comes to religious views. Neither are appealing after reading about their backgrounds. But if I was a resident of Deleware, I would vote for O'Donnell once, not cause I like her, but because she never has been in that position and could do no worse than the guys already there.

Well, I got bored of this thread less than 1/2 way through when it became clear that the 'political madness' had completely taken over, so I skipped to the end. Apologies therefore if someone has already posted these thoughts:
What would be the reaction to her candidacy if, 20yrs ago, she gave an interview advocating Satanism (not neo-paganism or wicca - actual LaVeyan Satanism)?
What is the significance of the question "Are you now, or have you ever been, a member of the communist party?" (which I believe is still asked to those applying for a visa to enter the USA)?

The right-winger I work with said that these Tea Party candidates are "the Republican party getting back to its roots." Is this anti-masturbation thing an example of that? (Granted, I don't think he knows about this. Masturbation is the only love he's had in decades, and the only love he will ever have again. I didn't need to know that, but . . . I do.)

Christine O'Donnell once held an anti masturbation campaign.

Is this really who we want running this country?

I can see many challenges you are likely to face in your daily life.

First the easy one- someone elected to Congress doesn't "run the country" (not even the chief executive ;-). That may come as a large shock to most folks who enjoyed a state-education, but there are several branches of government, and not one (or any for that matter) "run" stuff.

Secondly, things have changed since the says of the klan in the deep South. It's not a problem if you have prejudices against a race, a sexual orientation, an ethnic background, but it is now uncommon to discriminate against someone based upon their sexual orientation or what they do in their bedroom. I'm not condoning your bigotry, nor am I condemning it- it's a free country after all; although, I would hope to see a little more open mind around ATS than what you've posted here in your thread.
