"Please be advised that any student who has the letters 'meep' on their clothing or uses the words verbally will face suspension from school...the police are monitoring this situation as well."

www.dvorak.org...

seriously?! getting suspended from school for saying 'meep'? thats just ridiculous. and getting the police involved on top of that, what could they possibly do? the article is a little under a year old but the fact still remains. utter nonsense. i can understand words like [snip] or [snip] getting you suspended, even though i feel bad words in general are nonsense (i dont understand how a word can be bad) i wonder if beaker from the muppets, or the roadrunner were banned too. labeled a meep spokespersons hah. meep meep!

ATS is acting a bit buggy for me right now, to read the news article you gotta do it the old fashioned way and copy/paste the provided link

I must be getting old, but here goes:

What is meep?

According to the article, if I understand it correctly, the kids at this school started saying "meep" as a generic substitute for any and all real profanity.

Examples could be:

Meep off.

Bite my meep.

Meep you, you meeping meep.

I think it's my new favorite word.

If they're clever, they'll replace it with the word "school," the principal's name, or similar.

I am in high school, and here we use the word beep because of that beeping censor noise used when removing profanity.

Beep the cops!

That's crazy
I normally use the word "meep" to express suprise, a sort of extention of "eep".

I'm sorry, that post made my literally laugh out loud.

Seriously though, what the heck? Meep? But isn't that a good thing, like using 'heck' and 'darn' instead of actually swearing?

They'll be banning the entire dictionary before long because, as stated already, the kids will find another word to substitute.
