Quote: "CNSNews.com) – Sheriff Larry Dever, whose officers patrol Cochise County along the border between Arizona and Mexico, said he finds it “amazing” that the U.S. State Department would refer the recently passed immigration law in his state to the United Nations Human Rights Council for review."

Now here is a Sheriff that is a credit to his community. The Federal government will do nothing to stop the illegal immigration so the Sheriff is. The matter has been referred to the UN Human Rights Council which the US has refused to join.
This guy should run for political office!

He does run for a political office.

The county sheriff is the highest elected official when it comes to law enforcement in the US.

You should know your sheriff personally.

Set up a meeting, especially if it is election time and shoot the breeze. See if he or she would protect you from a tyrannical fed or state.

In 47 states there are sheriffs.

Thanks for the article.

edit to add, I did a thread on the UN component, not the Sheriff.

This from May 2009:
"US elected to UN rights council as Obama reverses Bush policy"

The US was one of 18 countries elected to three-year terms on the 47-seat Geneva-based council in a vote by the UN General Assembly, joining 29 others already on the body. A number of nations represented on the council - including China, Cuba and Saudi Arabia - have faced criticism for their own human rights records.

There's no reason to think this wasn't the goal all along. (Some excellent quotes about world government at the link below.)

October 29, 1991 -- David Funderburk, former U. S. Ambassador to Romania, tells a North Carolina audience:

"George Bush has been surrounding himself with people who believe in one-world government. They believe that the Soviet system and the American system are converging." The vehicle to bring this about, said Funderburk, is the United Nations, "the majority of whose 166 member states are socialist, atheist, and anti-American."

The enemy of my enemy is my friend.

So, we are friends today it seems Sheriff Larry Dever.

I am behind you, even if I disagree with you or not.

We should cut off funding for the UN, like yesterday.

Yes Americans hate any law that prevents them from doing anything they want to do.

Invade a helpless country and kill and plunder civilians, hell yes.
What right has the UN to protest, war crimes are what we do, we have the guns, the fire power to do anything we want, we are always right.

Torture people, hell yes, we have them in chains, we will do what we damned well like to our prisoners. What right has the Geneva convention to tell us what to do with our prisoners.

One day your country is going to be ripped apart by violent revolution.
Americans freely killing, plundering, torturing and raping other Americans, because that is your right, and what you want to happen.

And we (the rest of the world) will look on in absolute pity, turn our faces away from your barbaric country, and DO ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.

Americans just cannot wait to open fire on any foreign peace keeping troops or aid workers that might hypothetically come to actually try to help Americans when the coming American revolution really gets going.

But nobody is coming to help you........

.

Last I checked Australia rolled with us... So, isn't your nation also culpable?

How are your Aborigines doing nowadays, btw? You guys manage to stamp out all the racism members of your society feel towards your indigenous peoples?

Then you cannot have checked since the Vietnam war, over forty years ago.
Since then all of America's allies have deserted you totally.
The very last ally to leave was Britain when it pulled totally out of Iraq.

Sure go ahead and try to put us in the same class as war crimes in Fallujah, use of banned weapons in Iraq, open torture in Gitmo, but we just don't do that king of stuff in Australia, and never have..

I don't understand what this means... Are you claiming that your Nation didn't deploy troops to help us kill Iraqis? Cause if you are the SAS would like to have a word with you.

I'll admit though, that your nation was there cause you were lied to.

Yes Australia does!
You would do well to know your own history and the atrocities your people committed against your indigenous people and your nations ongoing genocide of them. So yes, I'll call you out on your nations crimes against humanity at my leisure.

What happened was that Saddam illegally invaded and occupied Kuwait.
The United Nations decided to do something about that.
Fifty nations including Australia, America and forty eight others launched Desert Storm.
It was a huge success.
Americans like to think they did it all by themselves, but that is not at all how it was.

In 2003 the certifiably insane lunatic George W Bush, based on a lie about weapons of mass destruction decided to illegally invade Iraq against the wishes of the UN. It was put to a vote,
and the UN just laughed at George.
Every intelligence organization, (including your own CIA) knew very well there were never any WMD.
About 85% of the US public believed the WMD lie back then, and incredibly many still believe it today.

All the UN nations (except Britain) very wisely kept right out of Gulf War Two, or The War On Terror, or whatever it is now called.
Australia has not been involved in any combat missions in Iraq since Desert Storm ended, and all fifty nations went home.

So yes, Australia as a UN member nation is part of the UN combined multi national force. We do our share as required.
But no, the Australian military is definitely not an ally of America. And we have absolutely nothing to do with whatever nutty and immoral military adventure the US decides to undertake.

We take part only in any official properly voted upon UN operations such as Desert Storm and in Afghanistan, and in East Timor right now.
All of those operations are truly international in nature and not American wars.

We want absolutely nothing to do with illegal invasions of Iraq, or bombing Iran, or any other American aggressive stupidity.

If Obama decided to invade Fiji or anywhere else (for some reason) we most certainly would not be involved in any way.
If the UN decided to send peace keeping troops to Fiji, or anywhere else, Australians would be right there doing our bit to help.

I'll admit though, that your nation was there cause you were lied to.

Yes the whole world was lied to, but only Britain supported America in that lie.
Australia has had nothing to do with any American war or invasion anywhere since Vietnam.
All the old traditional allies of America, like New Zealand, Canada, and Australia have had nothing to do with any American wars or invasions for forty years.

Yes Australia does!
You would do well to know your own history and the atrocities your people committed against your indigenous people and your nations ongoing genocide of them. So yes, I'll call you out on your nations crimes against humanity at my leisure.

That is a red herring in this thread, and you know it.

And what about the treachery and massacres of your American plains Indians ? That is nothing to be particularly proud of either.

But let's stay in modern times, you will find nothing in Australia's foreign policy that involves invasions, surgical strikes, plunder, torture, secret prisons, assassinations, or destruction of whole nations.

We don't even have a single nuclear power plant here in Australia, and don't want any here.
We are a peace loving people with no real enemies. World conquest by force is just not our way.
