Is this thread in some kind of code because I have no idea what is even being said in it. The title has something about eyes, the OP seems to talk about liberals, and the we have stuff about the floodiing in Nashville months ago and then lots of other random stuff. And I am sure Katrina is trying to be tied into this some how but, I can not see what the correlation is between flooding in one city and hurricane that devestated several states. Did I miss something or is can others explain what this is all about.

OT,

I always love your threads, but never have posted in one. Thanks for bringing this to my attention. Out here on the west coast I never even knew that such tragedy happened...
Maybe this is due to my lack of attentioned paid to MSM, but maybe because it only got minimal coverage... Not sure as to which, but I will say that I was moved by the footage in the youtube link.

It is very hard to compare one natural disaster to another because of things like population density, disaster type (not just meaning flood Vs. hurricane, but also, meaning that death tolls and financial loss counts are important to the media), and American cultural relevance (by that I just mean where the national media puts their focus).

Does any of that constitute the neglect that this great state received?? NO. I am a bit upset about that. I think that we are dealing with two distinctly different cultures/communities though. Whithout comparing the disaster itself to others we've observed in the US, I can clearly see that one community has chose to depend on itself in a more resolute fashion. Again, I am not commenting on the nature or severity of the disaster, or even the peoples affected within. It just becomes apparent that, if nothing else, the local governing bodies can make or break a community.

There are those that act in time of need and those that ask for help in time of need. I think that is what you have ultimately illustrated here.

Anyhow, thanks for another good thread.

Cheers.

Defunct....

I think Liberals are misunderstood. We are not a charity but we have charity. This should not be a negative connotation. Sad that it is.

Ice all broke

As brother OldThinker is speaking in tongues it is my duty to interpret.
Not that he isn't clear, but he's speaking a language that has no subtext
to the younger generations. And in a way I guess that is part of what he
is saying.

The evidence he just produced is so conclusive that my reaction was to
start formulating a few metrics for predicting community behavior in the
face of a disaster. The operating thesis being, that "A community will pull
together in the face of disaster, only if there is a community to begin with."

But let me interpret if I may.

Music. Nashville produced Country music, New Orleans produced Jazz
music. Oh, wait. No it didn't. New Orleans is not know as the Jazz cap-
itol of the world. In fact I think all those famous Jazz musicians had to
escape New Orleans in order to make it. They have completely squan-
dered the cities, arguably, greatest creation and neither receive any
percentage of it, nor continue to develop and produce the genera. In
fact the Jazz scene in New Orleans is an Epic failure, and the best Jazz
is found in Hawaii, Paris, and London. If the community of New Orleans
is soooo into contemplating their own belly button that they did this to
Jazz, without even knowing it, I would hate to see how they would handle
a disaster.

All I have to do now is mention the name of one particular hurricane.
Case closed. Let's start using this to make predictions.

That's what, I felt, OldThinker is saying. The end of the world came for
Nashville, and in it's wake is a stronger community. If I want to know
what a disaster scenario will look like where I live, all I have to do is look
at my next door neighbor and I have my answer. Are we part of the
same community or not. Communities survive disasters, individuals do
not.

No no, I fully watched your video.

I just don't know what the hell you are trying to say.

It seems as though your ranting about politics and religion but then you include a flood?

It doesn't make sense as it looks like you are extremely angry in your opening post.
