I don't believe it, plain and simple.
Most Catholics probably don't believe it either.

Why Catholics only? A Protestant would go in there and tell the foul trick playing spirit to leave in name of Jesus. Seriously!

We have to ask, what does it do for promoting a mystery, goes on for 10 months, official investigation, 7 books and 40,000 forum posts later, help us.

Nothing here is showing that this of God - and for what reason?

Consider, the Stuff hits the fan in a few years, Mary appears and directs 1/2 billion faithful to follow the new Mystery Religion, baaaaaa, here we all go into perdition (so to speak).

I was a Catholic, we gotta wake up folks, how does this confirm, strenghten, and bring my belief to a better understanding? I love my Catholic brothers and sisters, but please, check it, not all supernatural is of the "good side".

Explanation: S&F!

Using Occams Razor I have filtered [with my totally biased edge of course! I have an ego and I employ it as required and I'm quite a needy so-and- so currently
] the most important information REGARDLESS of the origins and or those origins good and or bad reputations!

Found far below is the distilled product that I refined to my tastes! It was relatively free to consume and it warmed the cockles of my hearts sub-basements even though I totally NO longer soley/souly subscribe to any of the Abrahamic sources for the whole Truth. [OL is currently and for past 20yrs a Disfellowshipped Baptised JW Brother. But I am a still an active Theist and I actively worship an ancient Hellenic [Greek] Death Goddess called Achlys and I hold the delusion as knowing act of faith on my behalf for my own and special others benefits OK! Majix Happenz! ]
The Bible SERIOUSLY helps and does build FAITH! You absolutely need it [FAITH] regardless of whether you a religious and or spiritually driven or not!

Here is Why...

It sure took a Divine act of self belief when we each individually agreed faithfully [and still do!
:shk: ] with Cognito Ergo Sum i.e."I think, Therefor IAM!" and so when I read the article the only thing that Occams was literally AFRAID to even contemplate disrespecting by trying to cut it up and be bloody minded [sanguine] about it WAS...

"This is a sign for people to love each other and pray."

Occams was wise in not blunting either itself or the basic facts!

And amazingly in doing so it actually POSITIVELY reinforced MY PERSONALLY held but barely shared POV on the BVM!

If anyone is feeling a little Pink [embarrased] then I recommend that they stop being so comfortably numb as thats one of the 1st signs of IMMANENT danger i.e hypothermia and or Complacency
etc! :shk:

So I am being encouraged to love more and employ that love wisely by contemplating [prayer... it WORKS best when its seeking simplified sophistocated solutions selflessly or better applied as an anomymous suplication comes across as highly ethical and also respectful and clearly is not seeking self agrandizement!] and also then understanding my fellow suffering souls specific situation and then verbally OUT LOUD but quietly to oneself actually asking for those answers to be forth coming in say a diplomatic fashion and thanking the Fairies at large. [pick a similar descriptive word you like and do straight substitute as OL can't AFFORD to be so semantically tight and therefor simply won't fight OK]

If you are completely sincere with and in prayer, then just the concept of thinking good thoughts and maintaining a robust morale and optimistic outward respectfull attitude is Godspell enough that even without God to back you up on such issues that it is Completely clear that one already has the internal moral fibre center that would 100% Totally compensate for such an absurd reality to manifest! God's do and are listening quite intently and respond in kind and blaspheming at the last second without any prior effective communications being confidently established just gets a simple universal negetive reply. Man being built in the Image and likeness of the God's has learned me very quik smart that the various archetypal Gods are Vain and Capricious and the ONLY way to be nice and get what I want fully ALSO is to stroke their ego's and placate their real and or suggested hungers and or fears!

I believe in this. there were recent apparitions of Mary in Cairo. 20 000 people witnessed these, and the last time it happened a muslim man was healed from a lifetime of blindness. i saw a youtube video of his testimony translated from arabic and im sure he is telling the truth.

check out Padre Pio. So many miracles have happened because of him,

I don't doubt for a second the man was healed. The woman the "touch Jesus", he said your faith has healed you. But what message did she really bring? That she is the one to be adored? Followed?

Satan can afford to lose a few, he'd prefer we follow blindly so he can eventually reap a much higher number to take with him. That may be his end game! Know your faith, discern first.

Mary has a special place in the Catholic religion, unlike other religions. Thus, there are Marian devotions, especially in the Roman Catholic church. Combine this devotion with intense beliefs/rituals of ethnic cultures in abundance in CA, and one can expect a lot of such "sightings".

It may well be that the Church investigates and finds this not to be a valid event, and it could well find, as it has found in other such events, that there is no fraud involved but rather someone who really believes the event is valid.

Because of my location at the times (yes, in CA! lol), I have been able to witness several instances of one such event, found by the Church not to be fraud but merely believed by the person to happen. What was interesting is that even though I personally found the "miracle" to not be as claimed, both the intense religious devotion or need to believe by most in attendance was noteworthy.

Some came to participate in the ceremony, others were there out of a need for a divine intervention in some part of their life. I had a sense that this event fulfilled that part in them that wanted to share in and maybe grasp a mystery. Participating in something that cannot be rationalized with the mind but certainly felt deep within, entering via the senses (singing, dancing/movement, prayer, music, artwork, etc or simply stillness).

I had to admire these people's devotion, and I hoped that those who came for a healing either experienced a healing or got some comfort. Some obviously didn't "believe" but came with/brought family members anyway.

Even though the event of this thread most likely is real only to the woman, everyone else who is participating wants to share in this reality, fulfilling a desire that humans have for bringing together the mysterious/Divine with everyday living.

check out Padre Pio. So many miracles have happened because of him, incuding his body being found in perfectly preserved condition after four years of being buried.

I don't question Padre Pio's faith and dedication, he was blessing to many.

What I don't buy into, is "to suffer with Christ", he already did, said and done. And we can pray for other souls, but we don't have to take on their suffering also.

Now the question? Is the stigmata created from a truly deep and almost neverending belief that we have to take on Christ's suffering?

And why did Pio let the demon/satan beat him up. He could have cast him off in Jesus name? But, catholics are not taught this, generally, but the exorcists know it - whether one is possessed or just harassed (like Padre Pio) this is your right given from Jesus.

That kind of goes without saying. I know there are good and bad folks everywhere. I think it's maybe because of the smut films they make there.

I also know that Roger Mahoney is evil.

The reason I posted this story here was to see if these commenter's from the Catholic site were right in their evaluation that this story would bring ridicule upon the Church.

This is the sort of thing that causes us to be ridiculed as Catholics by comics and rejected as idiots by the mainstream media.

I'm sorry to see this "story" up on CalCatholic. It would more logically appear in a weekly scandal-mongering tabloid at the grocery checkout stand......

CCD

I don't know if it was reverse psychology or maybe they thought I was setting them up for a trap with this opening line:

Atheists, Anti-Catholics, get your flame throwers ready for this one...

Strangely enough, I've seen less anti-Catholic flaming on this thread than almost any other I've posted on this forum.

Were the posts from the Catholic site wrong or did I just catch ATS in a mellowed out mood tonight?

Catholics believe that if you unite your suffering to Christ, if you offer it up and bear it, that gives suffering a whole new meaning. We all suffer, it is not without meaning! Christ's suffering gives your own suffering value it is not meaningless!

Stories of statues moving are real enough not just to believers but to children who are shunned to silence. It's just back in the old days, the folks in this poor nation didn't have cameras or videos. I believe the incidences occurred in an old church during WWII.

I would prefer more than this one person to provide testimonials to this lastest news of a crying statute. If rocks can remember and if stones can weep, surely even inanimate objects (i.e. holy statues) could cry. Just open your minds for once folks. It may be magic or not. Who knows.

You're right, we will suffer, be purged, refined. What I'm alluding to here - do we believing that we need to take on a deeper pain within prayer/meditation? my contention is Jesus has done all of this, hand over our sufferings to him, focus on the relationship with God and receive the peace that surpasses all understanding. The others we pray for, their inner suffering/refinement is not taken on by someone else - it is between them and God. God bless.

Before I go further, I may not clearly understand. You think the statue cried because of smut films made in L.A.?

It could very well be about porn. Although because the little PC cams can allow people to watch each other masterba**** amongst other things (I wonder if they have "virtual orgies"). This porn stuff is highly addictive, and because it encourages people to do these things it is the devil's delight. It can easily ruin relationships and families, encourage people to try things that are not good for them, start an unhealthy lifestyle etc.

Maybe it is also the fact that a lot of what makes LA look good: beautiful, flawless, forever young, etc., it is all behind a facade, a fake front, airbrushed and photo-shopped, a trick, a superficial way to live.

Christ is the only true way out. And He still listens to His Mother, lol

I don't follow California politics as I live in PA, but has any liberal laws passed or did an abortion clinic open locally lately or anything? Maybe it is more of a specific thing, instead of a general thing like porn...
