NEA: Let's celebrate communism!

Editor's note: After this report appeared, the reference to the founding of Chairman Mao's "People's Republic" was removed from the NEA website.

The National Education Association is suggesting its teachers and NEA-connected schools celebrate China on the anniversary of the repressive communist regime's violent founding.

The NEA's website has a page called Diversity Events and lists Oct. 1 as the day to celebrate Chairman Mao's successful revolution.

University of North Carolina–Wilmington criminal-justice professor Mike Adams says the NEA's position is borne out of intelle

Yeah! Let's celebrate Jesus Christ!

Can anyone think of a bigger and better "socialist" or "communist" who has lived and taught and influenced people, discouraging accumulation and greed and selfishness, anyone....throughout the history of the world, who has had more influence in this regard?

At risk of getting rained upon by theists and atheists alike...
My advice to everyone trembling in fear at communism or socialism is: Consider the Word of the Lord.

Or did you mean benevolent?

Ask SaturnFX.
The word "beneviolent" came from his post.

Edit: Nevermind. I see you did.

But pure communism is utopia, and that's what it seems the poster you are replying to meant? There's even thought that communism is a natural progression of capitalism FOR free-thinking societies and individuals.

Is what we have may here is a miscommunication and confusion between theory and the botched and bastardized attempts that led to Orwellian-type servitude and control that some have attempted to label communism?

Jesus did not advocate a repressive regime, that invariably stamps out all religion, and has to kill a percent or two of its own population to keep order. Jesus advocated free will, communism in practice is the opposite of freedom.
You do know that the first people communists kill when they come to power are SUPPORTERS of communism. Because they know you will become so dis-illusioned, you might rise up against them. The real controllers of communism are as close to absolute evil as you can get. You're foolish to think otherwise. Socialism isn't all that great either, because humans aren't. It just turns into a more controlling government.
I don't like a lot of things about America, but at least I have some freedom (for now).

I believe that the communists would refer to some of you as "useful idiots".

This is what communism is really about. Does this sound like freedom? Is this what jesus wanted? Maybe you are all just demoralized?

Communism doesn't work because we are free thinking individuals. We are not worker bees. Some humans work harder than others and thus deserve more then people that choose to be lazy and not work towards better their situation. Nothing wrong with that. People are free to choose their destiny either way. Dividing everything equally in an unequal will never work.

All true but the society should collectively determine it's needs and make sure there are enough reputable sources to provide those needs. The workday length and tasks for the lowest rungs of the society should not be cruel and unusual....but they should be paid their true value.
The society should be healthy, educated and reasonably content. If you do not institute some sort of communal thought into designing your future you will be left with nothing but vices, since these are the most profit making business's, porn and liquor, gambling and food that is nothing but garbage yet chemically altered as to be irresistible to the human organism.

Shouldn't we collectively arrive at a decision about such things in our midst and environment where our children are living, where our future is determined? Our happiness?

If you do not have a communal decision making process, and admittedly this is one enormous commune...we will end up with 1000 different varieties of toilet paper... yet no parks, sidewalks, decent food or clean water.
You will be able to walk down to the corner and buy some Jack and see a strip show. So I am sure many of you will still survive rampant free market capitalism without hardly missing a beat.

Pure communism has never existed in the world and I think it can never really exist. There will always be an elite ruling class that is treated differently than the rest of the collective.

Humans can't be treated equally because humans are not equal. Some people are actually better than others, it has nothing to do with race or anything. It has to do with ability and ambition. Some humans are simply able to do more than others and are driven to do so.

In a pure communist society. Everyone works and everyone gets an equal share of the pie. The problem with this idea is that not everyone works at the same speed or efficiency. This inequality creates resentment and jealousy. Human emotion that can't be controlled.

If you were a worker that worked 3 times as hard as the guy next to you how would you feel if he received the same pay as you did even though you were more productive? You might feel resentmant towards that person or you might just decide to not work as hard because you will get the same pay either way. Why bust your ass if you don't need to?

The ruling elite are driving nice cars and eating fine dinning every night while you and the rest of the collective are riding the bus and eating gruel.
That makes the masses angry so the elite have to crack down to maintain order. This is what you see in China today. There is a small population of elites running the country while the rest of the population is ruled with an iron fist to keep them in line. Hardly utopian in my opinion.

Wow. There's always a marxist posing as an expert on religion. Here's a helpful hint. You won't find the word equality in the bible. But there is this. "As you reap, so shall you sow."
