I'm trying to think of a way to re-word that, as best I can put it is to me sexual repression is repressing the act of 2 or more people having sex as well as the general reactions people have on sex. But that is just my views on this. Everyone has their own definition for things but being repressed sexually to me means you are made to feel that sex, certain sexual acts and/or discussing sex is off limits
At one point she had 3 or 4 open relations and some people would call her a slut because she was with 4 men rather than a steady relation with one.
Slut or slattern is a pejorative term meaning an individual who is sexually promiscuous.
Being open with her sexuality means she doesn't feel ashamed to kiss her girlfriend in public or hold hands or feel the need to hide the fact she is with a woman rather than a man.
I created this topic to get inputs on why SOME people may be feeling sexually repressed. I did not create this thread to nit pick about my own personal definitions on sexuality, which changes from person to person and from view to view.
i know what you mean about society being too conservative about sexuality, but i would limit that to western society

Looks like any adult film convention we would have in the united states and the pride parades we have.
Mind you gay pride parades are different but those haven't happened until much much more recently.
I never said we are becoming more conservative but rather we HAVE...
How so? over recorded time no we haven't over the past 100 years yes we have. What is the time frame your looking at?

Since we are talking about "us" and "the west" i take it we are talking about the United states, the timeframe i am looking at is the start of the united states to present day.
I think people just feel that they come off smarter when they say things like "in western culture"

I'm sorry you felt confused but I'm talking from a westerners views on how cultures have changed over time from very early in human history until now. I assumed people would read into my examples and realize that I mean more maybe than just western cultures. I even asked if other people had other cultures they'd like to discuss like the Japanese festival which was brought up.
