The idiot scumbag that is Sheriff Joe is going to start a war with Mexico and the cartels.

Sounds like a great idea - NOT!

I fail to see any good come from this.

So?....Don't you think we have a chance to win that war? You call him idiot but he is doing something and you don't. By the way...he can't start that war....the cartels and illegals started it long time ago. Everytime they sell a drug, everytime they don't pay for E.R. medical assistance, when they take our jobs for less salaries, when they make gangs.

We must support true americans and not those illegal parasits and cartels. You seem to be scare of war, nobody likes war but "FREEDOM IS NOT FREE".

Please forgive me ATS fellows for my strong words, I just don't understand how somebody can be against his own land.

Thank you Sheriff Joe, thank you Arizona.

So let me get this straight.

America's War on Drugs has turned Mexico into a war zone. So, the people bolt.

Wouldn't you? I'm not saying it's right that they come here but it is what it is. Not their fault their country has been turned into a war zone.

So now Sheriff Joe, undermanned, underfunded and a criminal in his own right is going to start a war with the cartels. You do realize they have more weapons and money to get them than Maricopa County?

Not a very sound idea IMO.

Seems to me I got out of Arizona at exactly the right time.

BTW, I don't drink Kool-Aid.

As a proud resident of the Fine State of Arizona, I have found that the only People that dont like Sheriff Joe are the criminals, and just recently, the extreme left. His office is an elected one, so he would not be Sheriff if he didnt have the people's support.
He and our awesome Governor have my full support, and anyone who doesnt like them can go to prison or leave the state. I hear California is beautiful this time of year...the Political climate will certainly agree with any Sheriff Joe dissenters, and Cali's stance on immigration will surely please them as well.

Nope...find your own Sheriff. He stays here in Arizona.

I don't know. Do we really need to pay $40 million a year to inmates murdered in jail by Arpaio and his thug ronies? And have 350 deputiese pulled off real cases to engage in a publicity stunt prostitution sting. Only to have the 80 misdemeanor sex cases thrown out by the prosecutor. Give me Buford Pusser from TN instead. Why not the "best sheriff" instead of the self-proclaimed "toughest sheriff.

Just so I understand you. You believe that we roll out the red carpet to the cartels without resistance and turn parts of Arizona into a warzone like Mexico? I guess the word "deterrent" was not learned in your elementary education class. When is enough enough for your ill level of thinking? Seems to me you should have never been in Arizona to begin with.

ill level of thinking

Nice insult.

No, I do not want a "red carpet" thrown down for the cartels. Why not get to the root of the problem, which is the United States ridiculous and totally insane war on drugs?

You would rather go to war with a group that has more weapons and money than you do. That is illogical to me. Don't go after the root of the problem, no, go after the symptom, and let's go ahead and start another needless war that cannot be won and kill a bunch of people.

Let a criminal start a war with other criminals and you will get caught in the crossfire. Go ask the people in Ciudad Juarez how much they like it.

If you think he's wrong, ya you are drinking the cool aid.

I really could care less what or how he is a criminal. The thief who saves a baby from a burning house is still doing right. The worst of the worst who does a right thing is still in the right when he does it. His past matters not if he does right.

So sorry, but you are in the wrong. People are taking matters into their own hands and hopefully the government will get enough sense to stop being a big brick and doing nothing and start being useful again.

So you really think the drug cartels really have more weapons and money than the US government?

This is why it is such a travesty that the feds forced arizona and people like Sheriff Joe to fight the fight the feds refuse to fight. The feds have neglected their duty and should be held accountable for their inaction. Seems to me that this should be an impeachable offense on the grounds of aiding a foreign invasion.

Nice. So this is what ATS has become? Just insult anyone who doesn't agree with you?

Low on crank and weed? Really?

Where did I ever say I did NOT want the borders protected? I just do NOT want Sheriff Joe involved. I do not trust criminals.

You can insult me all you want.

QFT! So how come you guys aren't insulting him, eh?

Since I'm low on crank and weed, I need to go now.

Maricopa County IS NOT the Feds, not the U.S. government. Not even close.

You should have read the rest of my post. I agree they are not the same. That is why it is sad that the feds dont do their job and enforce immigration law and defend the border. This is the very reason that people like Maricopa country are left to do the job by themselves. By refusing to enforce their own laws, the Feds are putting people in Arizona and other places around the country in risk.

You seem to be missing the big picture. Check out a map some time. there are these real cool lines on it. There is one big fat one at the top of the US separating it from Canada, and another big fat one at the bottom. It separates the US from Mexico. Now if we were to move one of those lines, then it would signify a loss of property. We would in fact give that land away. Since I don't see that as a viable option, I think fighting for the sovereignty of my country is a good thing. The big problem comes from Washington DC. They claim they are the ones supposed to protect these areas. they aren't. So our options are ignore the problem and hope it goes away(California approach), or take care of the problem ourselves (Arizona approach).

My personal opinion is that the war on drugs is a joke. But the gang of MS13 punks who have to kill a gringo to get into the gang are not such a laughing matter. You don't have to kiss Sheriff Joe on the mouth, but you do have to admire his nuggets. (figuratively speaking of course)

I did read it, I was just so intent on responding to the piece I quoted I totally missed what you said in the rest of the post. I got ahead of myself. Oops.

That being said, I don't trust the government very much, if at all, but it is their job to do this, not some county sheriff who does not have the equipment, men and money to do this.

Maricopa county doesn't even extend to the border, so what is he going to do, wage a war in someone else's jurisdiction? Isn't he supposed to keep the peace in his county and not worry about the others, or is his job to protect all of Arizona?

MINE THE FRIKKEN BORDER! Leave the bodies to rot. That would be a wonderful and respectful clue for the rest to stay the F^&k HOME unless specifically invited by a sponsor that will be responsible and held liable for them!

Well I dont think Good Ole Joe is planning on loading up the pick up trucks with weapons and driving down to Mexico to take the fight to them at home. He is just arming himself equal to the enemy in case they decide to bust out automatic weapons on the great citizens of Maricopa county. You cannot really fault the man for being prepared.

As another citizen of Arizona, thank you Sheriff Joe for being a spotlight hog and buffoon. Thank you too for piling on to the already large pile of embarrassing detritus that is the state of Arizona. Your wanna-be tough guy posturing and questionable dealings in Latin American may make you a hero to loads of ignorant mouthbreathers around the country, but that just speaks to the efficacy of the lowest common denominator principle at work.

First, get everyone to believe that illegal immigration is the gravest threat this country has ever faced, and then capitalize on it--politically and financially--day after day after day. Now we pound our chest and say "we have machine guns too." Well, case closed then. I'm sure the problem is now solved. No more illegals coming across--we've got GUNS!!!

Ah, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha

Seriously.......

Let me explain the workings of the drug lords to you simple sheeple.

I think this sheriff Joe is the same guy I heard about on NPR who was making all this money for his department by stopping cars doing exactly the speed limit.

Sheriff Joe is working for the cartels in Mexico Ladies and gentlemen. He is working for them.

This guy is being bribed with rivaling cartel collars and the money they are carrying and is being fed Intel by a certain cartel in exchange for such intel.

Think about it, what sheriff in his right mind would go on the news and talk about taking on the cartels except for one who is protected by them.

THE GUY WORKS FOR A CARTEL!!!!

I'm not knocking the guy, he has found a good way to bring hope and some safety to the people of Arizona the same way Mexico used to before this whole mess. Good on him.
