The answer to your query is both simple and complex at the same time.

It is a mixture of people having real-life lives, people who become disenfranchised with being disenfranchised with their online community, work demands, etc.

Ignorance runs afoul within any community when it comes into direct conflict with intelligence, people quite simply wake-up, within their community where they thought they were awake already, and or sometime they see their thinking might just have been wrong to begin with.

1) Simple - Life happens.

2) Complex - Life happens.

It is the influx of newer members, but not necessarily their fault, per se, but their questioning of the older and entrenched members views, their own new and fresh skepticism verses the old and stale skepticisms.

In the long run, sometimes, I see it as a coup of the new verses the old.

And in other manners, I see people steering towards semi-criminal behaviors, and Moderators shutting then down, thankfully, before their mentality spreads.

I came here five years ago to do one thing and one thing only.

Deny Ignorance.

If that means, I do not buy into the hype of the official story, so be it.

If that means, I do not buy into everyone else's skepticism, so be it.

If that means, I do not buy everything is a conspiracy theory, so be it.

Politics, like life, has a an ebb and flow, just like the tides of the oceans.

And in the end there is only one answer to all questions asked.

Thank you for your post, I see what you mean, I don't like being classified as one of the new members even though i'm definitely one of them, the lot of people I came into this website with are for the most part lousy IMO, they new age generation trollers. I'm not saying all of them are that way, like I don't consider myself to be a troll, but many are. I however really appreciate that this sight exists, it has opened my eyes, before I came here I always liked conspiracy theories but never put to much faith into them. Now my whole perspective of things has changed. I'm only 15 but I know more than the adults around me. I'v basically become addicted to this sight, it's helped me grow so much as a person. But I just feel like even since i'v been here which has been a whopping 4 months that there has been an increase in trolls so I can't imagine what it must be like for you who has been here for years. It must be so frustrating! Anyway thanks for the reply.

ATS is like high school. You start off ignorant, learn a few things as you go, and then when you graduate you realize that it was mostly a waste of time and just a part of our societal control mechanism.

You might want to work on that "arrogance" a little bit before you pat yourself on the back for "growing so much as a person"

We older members can spot hypocrisy a mile away. And if you stick around long enough; you will too. It's one of the reasons I'm growing rapidly disillusioned with ATS.

I already have...

I already know I'm not the brightest light bulb in the room.

But even a "flicker" can lighten the darkest room if even for a second.

There are less of us older crew here, though some have alternate names and others have been banned for doing stupid things. I think the major danger on ATS is due to the new flood of members. ATS usually has some reasonably intelligent human beings on it, some other websites, not so much. ATS advertises and is designed better then a lot of those other websites, and they come flooding in. Skepticism and rational thought often seems to be waning on ATS.

Of course I have a running theory that the social networking features on ATS has altered peoples motives for writing and their style of writing, but that's for a longer topic.

You did classify yourself as a newer member as well.

And under your avatar it shows you registration date for ATS membership.

No harm, no foul, moving along.

While you may think this site helps you grow, please remember, since you stated you are 15, this website is about denying ignorance, do not let the state of the world or this website push more ignorance on you.

What I mean to say is the world sure is not perfect, neither is this website, but you are in control of how you see both this world and ATS.

By the time I was your age, I'm 37 right now, I was a hardened and jaded individual.

Do not let the world or anything else for that matter make you jaded towards change.

And do not just rely on ATS as a source of information about how the world works.

While this website is a wealth of information, it is based upon people's perspectives, like myself, who see the world through their own eyes and experiences.

If you like to read I highly suggest you go to the library and research information, things spoken about on here, and as well read many, many threads, and come to your own conclusions, about how life is and will be.

That was enlightening Majic, considering it was written in 2004. I think that the board undergoes changes both up and down. There was once a mod on here from Alabama that I developed a great deal of respect for. Can't remember his name, but I don't think he's on here anymore. You are just a kid, and, respectfully know absolutly nothing about life other than your desires.
I have college degrees from community college to post doctoral, and certainly am not on any popularity lists afrom my posts, but that's the point. You can tell if you are in a perverse world when he truth and honesty will get you far more enemies than telling people pleasant and even unbelievable lies.
As a kid you think something is good if it gets you something you dont have to work for. You have a lot to learn to attain and understand maturity and honestly I dont think you'll ge the job done in time

RagingPanda, I joined this board at the age of 15 as well. I really don't mind being acknowleged as a "new member" because I believe that knowledge wise on ATS, I am new and there is so, so, so much for me to learn.

Trolls are always here, either disguised or out in the open. I doubt there has been an "increase in trolls" but instead, I believe there has been a difference in the posts and attitudes than what we may have viewed before.

Of course, as ATS grows the probability of "trolls" or whatever you wish to call them, will increase - no doubt about that. Simple maths which I'm sure you have covered

I really don't know - as you can see I've been only here for a month. You might want to ask SO about that one. He's the ancient one here.

I know a whole bunch of "old members" - they're great and still love coming here (From what I know.) Obviously, there are many who would have stopped coming here but it's not only down to the site itself, it may have included personal reasons.

There are some, *coughs* Rising Against, LiveForever8 *coughs* who I consider as new I think, yet have the knowledge of an oldie in my opinion. It depends on the member.

You made a error SKL It's perspectives See, even oldies can't "deny ignorance"

But as SKL has said, go to the library - I do that. Believe it or not, I've got 14 books to read all somehow relating to ATS material - conspiracies, ancient worlds, military stuff etc.

I'm naive I would say, I believe half the stuff on here and I can say, it does help.

If you don't know what "conclusion" to come to...ask members, post it up, read threads relating to your topic...it'll eventually clear it up...or just keep you in the dark still XD

If humanity is being dumb'd down, and that process creates ignorance and ATS is comprised of humans then yes.

ATS is becoming ignorant.

Which is the better question are the others (members) more ignorant or are you staying ignorant or seeking truth? There is many different versions of knowldege but only one truth.
What's the point of identification of the alleged ignorance of others? Does that benefit you by comparison if others are more or less ignorant?
To a child life is about comparison and getting stuff from others but to an adult life is about results of ones own charactor and using ones talents

Im reading this thread and thinking: why is none of the moderators thinking of the possibility that it may be a strategy by a organization to drown ATS in nonsense posts?

There sure are a lot of really dumb threads here now, and they are so dumb that its not even likely there is a real intent behind them.

One thing that gave me hope was some moderator who locked a prediction thread and said the poster would get banned if the prediction didnt happen. We need much more of that, because currently, there is so much crap floating around here.

Ignorance is just a word, an overused one at that ...

We are all "ignorant" relative to all the information the universe avails ... within that relativity, the gap between a newborn child and the wisest of men is negligible.

The only true denial of ignorance is not in the quantity of information one accumulates, it is in the realization that externally acquired information is not a substitute for knowledge ... the latter is contained within.

Looking within makes the very concept of ignorance moot ... for if one looks for knowledge in the wrong place denying ignorance is the least of their problems. that would be denying one's self.
