Well, just one image for now. The full panorama will probably been done over the weekend. This is the new hangar, which looks like they painted green though you can never trust color images shot through 26 miles of atmosphere. I attempted to white balance a bit on the Janet.

Some dodgy looking buildings there, then maybe it's heat haze.

Where did you get this picture from? From what I know you cant get within 6 miles of airspace to take any sort of picture. You took this from 26 miles away?

To photograph Area 51:

1) Drive 25 or so miles to the Tikaboo staging area.
2) Climb Tikaboo peak with camera, telescope, tent, etc. in backpack
3) Spend night at approx 7800ft.
4) Get up at stupid oh clock, set up telescope, photograph base
5) Climb down mountain
6) Get flat tire on the way out.

Well, you should skip step 6 if possible. It was a perfect storm of rock and tire intersection. The tire shop is always impressed with my flats.

Incidentally, I've seen plenty of evidence that Tikaboo Peak has been visited since my trip last year. Somebody marked the trail with red reflective tape. Nice effort, but the tape doesn't stick well and rips easily when baked in the desert sun. The yellow caution tape looks fresh. Oh, and somebody left a trail of pistachio nut shells.

At the camp site on the false summit, there were 6 small sealed water bottles left behind. A nice touch in the event somebody doesn't bring enough water with them.

What bugs me is all though the peak has been scaled, nobody bother to photograph the base. Yes, it is an order of magnitude more difficult to carry all the gear, but it would be nice to see more photographs of the base.

Photographing the TTR takes very little physical effort, and virtually nobody photographs it but me.

OK, here is a Rorschach test. There are two dark shadowy items in front of hangar 18. One to the left, and one in the middle. What do you see?

They look like they have wheels. And the one on the left looks like it has a canopy that's up. Perhaps they're bar-b-q grills. Or tiny single person aircraft. Very hard to tell. Great photos though. Much better resolution than the 2005 photos on "dreamlandresort.com".

Laugh while you can. I draw much better on paper. Anyway, strange little tiny airplane?Ooutdoor grill? Trees? It's on wheels. Maybe.

Hi gariac,

At a guess, Weber's latest low RCS BBQ.

Or else drones on some sort of trolley.

Peace!

Here is another possibility for the item at the center of the hangar:

Two trees?

Don't look like hovering craft!

What do you think they are?

Any interesting experiences on such trips?

Any interesting subjective feelings or thoughts that didn't seem to come from within?

Here is the mysterious triangular tower. You can see the round base, which is probably related to how they rotate the tower.
