This kind of systemic collapse is affecting cities, states and countries around the world - it has nothing to do with local politics.

Understand that oil production has been flat for the last 5 years ...

We have been replacing oil energy with human labour for the past 5 years which is not nearly as easy as 60 years ago when you could drop a pick-axe in the ground and have oil shoot out that you could put to work ... instead, as a world we are working harder, for less.

There is a lot of scamming going on, which is consolidating wealth into some hands, but in the big picture, it all comes down to how much energy we have to do our work for us.

The obvious result of the California failure is that Californians are piling huge debt loads onto their children and grandchildren.

Our generation may have lived in relatively good times but our descendants will not due to our excesses and greed!

So shutting down universities and freeing prisoners are the desired cuts? How about defaulting on all entitlements instead. The union based pensions suck up 75% of the budget.

Let the retard union communists eat cake. Time for them to receive the rewards of socialism, which is want and lack. That should be your reward for voting D, dumbocrats.

Then take the prisoners and put them into forced labor at 1/10 the amount being paid to the illegals. That should send the illegals packing back home to Mexico.

I can fix all their problems without cutting any important services and without creating a police state too.

Wow, such animosity and hate in this topic.
It's great to see fellow human beings egg on the collapse of a state.

You'd like us to break off and float away, eh? Nice.
Yes, we're all leftist, socialist and hippies over here! Every one of us.

All I can do is shake my head at some of you.

It seems like it's so fluid and easy for some to just spew out hate and key words that they've had rammed into their brains their whole life.

Leftist..blah blah..socialist..blah blah blah...
It's all the same ridiculous rhetoric you hear being spewed out in the news...leftist/rightist... blah blah blah...yes, let's hate on every thing that does not live up to our little bubble of perception...

Perhaps one day you'll learn from one of those hippies you despise so much and realize there's no reason for these dividing claims and separatist attitudes... in the end, we are all one.

But I have learned from the hippies. They have taught me precisely what NOT to do to be a successful human being.

They have taught me how easy it is to destroy a great civilization and how living for your pleasures results in personal and societal disaster.

California has been living on barrowed time since the late 90's.. (I have lived here ALL MY LIFE)
Yes the 90's...

It started with the dot comers coming in to the bay area... Starting up business on nowhere near sound foundations, use venture capital to start up, spending said money on elaborate buildings, furnishings and parties. HOWEVER... most did not have the CUSTOMER base to sustain once they blew through the Vent. Cap money.

With this came the mass influx of people to man these false bottom companies, hence causing bidding wars on real estate, driving the real estate market up to absurd values.. (the housing wars) that then started the building boom....

Crash goes the DOT COMMERS when the "free money" runs out. Now we have loss of jobs, over inflated housing, empty building all over the place.

Enter the early 2000's... LOT of homes have been built and are still being built, Still the Real Estate market is FALSELY inflated... now they NEED to sell these homes...
Here comes the push to get anyone in a home loan whether they qualify or not.
Now SOME PEOPLE KNEW they did not qualify while some really sleazy brokers inflated peoples income and falsified loan doc to get the loans thru knowing full well they were setting these people up to fail down the road.
CRASH goes the market when these loans start to reset....

AND ON TOP OF THAT... An ACTOR gets voted in for GOV.. AN ACTOR... Christ almighty... I could NOT believe that he made it in.. NOT A BUISNESS MAN... and people expected what of him..... "to be the "terminator?"
So people are then SUPRISED when he fails... REALLY?????????

I saw this coming back in the Dot Com. Days.. I told people it was a false economy, it was going to fall....
Said the same thing about the "housing market"
Both were FALSE ECONOMIES....was going to come down and come down hard... and here we are....

So... NO ONE person is to blame.. nor is the right or the left... GREED .. PURE AND SIMPLE!!! as well as Self entitlement. nothing more, nothing less...
The Government in California needs a good cleaning...No doubt there...
But to BLAME California for this economic mess.. Pull your heads out..

You want the US Economy to recover.. well then:
1. Next time you are out shopping for a car.. BUY AMERICAN MADE.. you are supporting jobs here at home.. Not overseas.
2. BUY only products that are made in America... KEEP the JOBS HERE and the MONEY...
3. Buy only produce GROWN in the US.. Not imported from Chili.. KEEP the money HERE
STOP shopping at Wal-Mart, who does NOTHING but put the mom and pops and independent business's OUT OF BUSINESS...
Do you think people will do that to HELP their OWN Economy recover.. Bring jobs back home? Chances are... NOT... and that is sad...
WE as a whole are in part responsible for this mess we are in, People have become lazy and apathetic.
It's sooo much easier to sit back, point a finger and blame others.. while doing nothing.

Ohh and for the record.. I drive a Buick and will buy an American car again next time..
I look to see whare produce was grown and buy accordingly.
I NEVER EVERY and WILL NEVER EVER shop at WAlly World.
and yes.. I VOTE.

Three people that will ensure the failure of California if elected (and re-elected) to state office this November:

- Gavin Newsom

- Kamala Harris

- Jerry Brown

I'll throw in Oakland Mayor Ron Dellums to boot too just because he's a terrible mayor. He's not running for anything (I hope) but he sure hasn't made Oakland or California any better.
Budget cuts mean letting crooks out and laying off cops too? Sure can't wait to see what happens when the Mehserle trial ends...

Northern California means nothing more to me but my friends and family, the rest I have no hope for.

Gee , does this mean I wont be getting my Social Security Check, after They
took money out of EVERY single one of my paychecks since I was 16.
As a matter of fact "They" did that to EVERY SINGLE PERSON I KNOW as well.
Well there will be a run on the banks by armed Senior Citizens in their
"Scooter Chairs" who wont care if you incarcerate them for life because
they are so old, they don't give a damn anyway. Plus they will get 3 hots
and a Cot, free medical, free dental, free cable T.V., Hot and cold water.
electricity, heat. Recreation rooms, and visitation rights. Plus secure protection
from the outside world which will be a Mad Max Scenario for them anyway.

Living in California all my life, it was just a couple of years ago when everything was "normal." Now, in 2010, this is what I'm seeing:

· A drastic increase in people asking me for change and, more surprisingly, food. Back in the day, I learned not to give change out to everybody who asked, since most used it for drugs, but more and more now, people are just asking for you to go buy them 6 Ramens for $1 just so they have something to eat for a week.

· Appreciation for ANY type of work. In the past, jokes were passed around about how much it sucked to work at a fast-food joint. Trust me, that rarely happens anymore. Even a 20-hour a week job as a dishwasher or sign holder is treated with respect.

· More and more people on the corners of intersections selling fruits and vegetables, and no, they are NOT mostly Mexicans like they used to be. Whites, Blacks, Hispanics, Chinese, Russians -- I've seen all types out there now.

· The moods I see everybody in have decreased. I used to walk in a crowd and see some couple making out, a group of kids chatting it up, etc., but I remember a week ago walking through a general crowd, and I didn't see a single smile on any of their faces. Luckily, kids in schools seem to not have changed all too much. Ignorance is bliss.

I keep asking myself every day, "How much longer can this go on for? Will we reach 2015 with everything still stuck like this? 2020? 2030?" I haven't been through a major collapse before, so I know some old folks know it's coming. I just wish it would hurry up already. Either fix California or let it crash completely so that we can all die and be the catalysts the Illuminati wants us to be or fight back against them and restore California and, eventually, the rest of the world. Help me or cook me, but don't put me halfway in and expect me to stay there for years and years.

WOW! Who thought Escape from LA was just telling the future?
Don't worry California, I doubt you will become as much of a hell hole as Detroit.

They've been teetering on the edge forever now. Where's the breaking news here? They took another step closer?

The whole country's teetering on this edge. What did the brainiacs expect was going to happen when they shipped all the jobs (and the corresponding income and sales tax bases) away and allowed money to flow offshore by the trillions into offshore accounts for same rich people and corporations...and into foreign wars we don't need to fight? That we could just magically print more? That the few Jane and Joe Schmoes still working could somehow magically support the country with their taxes? Ha.

That no one could have predicted this just floors me.

Doesn't surprise me none. How long did they think they could keep up this welfare entitlement farce and be able to pay for it. They've taxed just about everything that they can and they are still insolvent.

But by all means, keep thinking up new and ridiculous social programs that you can't afford.

Seriously?

Hippies destroyed the country?

What country are you talking about?

Because all the countries being systematically destroyed right now, are being done so by greedy banker types and giant corporations.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but last I checked hippies don't support that kind of thing.

America's problem was and are Americans. You spend too much and you are brainwashed too much to do these stuff. You dont do savings. Most of you live on debts. You guys slowly fell into their traps.
Start with federal reserve. That is your only problem really.

I am an Indian and i'm sorry if you guys are offended. Even though our country has so many problems and poor people like me, we have currency issuing power with our government. Thats the reason somehow we are surviving the crisis. Our Reserve Bank of India is Government bank really.
Take back your Federal Bank and stop giving free goodies to illegal immigrants.
Thats all you guys need to do.

I wouldn't go that far, but California is definitely a collection point of hippies and degenerates.

And San Fransisco? I'm not going to shed any tears when that falls into the ocean....
