Poll: Majority lacks trust in government

news.yahoo.com...

WASHINGTON – Can you trust Washington?

Nearly 80 percent of Americans say they can't and they have little faith that
the massive federal bureaucracy can solve the nation's ills, according to a
survey from the Pew Research Center that shows public confidence in the
federal government at one of the lowest points in a half-century.

The poll released Sunday illustrates the ominous situation facing President
Barack Obama and the Democratic Party as they struggle to maintain their
comfortable congressional majorities in this fall's elections. Midterm prospects
are typically tough for the party in power. Add a toxic environment like this and
lots of incumbent Democrats could be out of work.

That would be when we fought against Britain for our independence, also when we fought in WWI and WWII. During WWII the entire world trusted our government & Europeans thanked us for liberating them from a great evil regime. During the Regan years, not only the US citizens thanked his administration for the end of the Cold War but so did the entire world.

During those cold war days, did you guys know that Ted Kennedy was trying to get the Russians to continue to keep threatening America and its allies & not pay attention or heed to Regan's promises?

Maybe when we had a government that was "for the people, by the people" instead of trying to decide who is "the lesser of two evils" and electing them.

The US has two major parties ... two major candidates in each election - it seems to be anyone's guess as to who will be the "lesser of the two evils" and screw up our country even more.

This is no surprise. What we have in this country now is essentially "battered woman syndrome" with respect to the government. Call it "battered citizen syndrome". Folks know the government is corrupt. Folks know that in providing basic services, the government is incompetent.

Face it. The leaders of government don't believe that the average person can grasp the details of governance. We don't "get" it, we don't understand why the corruption is a necessary evil. It is all a part of the grand scheme. Create a massive level of dependency amongst a huge number of people. Enable the super rich to become even richer and toss enough bones to the shrinking middle class that they will accept paying an ever increasing amount of taxes.

I would like to see the reverse poll. Who actually trusts the government and in what respect to they trust them?

Trusting any organized entity is against my personal grain, be it the PTA, condo association, church, corporation and most definately the government. Within an organized entity, the currency of power is information and in order to maintain that power the leaders will shield that information from those outside the power structure. Sometimes shielding the information is difficult and that is where the corruption comes in. This has been happening since there was a tribe of cavemen.

The entire world thanked Reagan?

The hundreds of thousands of people killed in South America under dictatorships supported by the US would not have thanked him.

the last president who tried to warn us of
the Industrial Military Complex got shot
in Dallas.

It's too bad that our elected officials
have been forced to play the game
under duress. And it remains a secret
cuz if broadcasted as such, then it
would be strikingly apparent that we
no longer have a Republic but a
dictatorship fueled by corrupt bankers.

maybe Obama just needs to have a press
conference and tell the world that he is
being manipulated by forces inside the
gov. that would make ur hair stand up
wouldn't it???
