A New York Times/CBS News poll found that a majority of Americans, 52 percent, think the policies of President Barack Obama are moving the United States toward socialism
The poll asked respondents specifically whether the president’s policies “are moving the country more toward socialism.” Fifty-two percent answered “toward socialism” while only 38 percent answered “not toward socialism.”
According to The New York Times, "(t)he nationwide telephone poll was conducted April 5-12 with 1,580 adults. For the purposes of analysis, Tea Party supporters were oversampled, for a total of 881, and then weighted back to their proper proportion in the poll. The margin of sampling error is plus or minus three percentage points for both all adults and Tea Party supporters, and it is higher for subgroups."

So 52% of the people polled don't know what they hell they're talking about?
That's more than a little discomforting .

The main idea of socialism is public take-over of private property. One of the first things Obama did was a take-over of GM and a large number of banks. And now he wants to tightly control the entire medical insurance industry and has implemented strict controls over them. By the definition of socialism, Obama is moving America towards socialism. This is a fact.

I agree in part except when has any goverment run entity made a profit??
BTW, that goes for here in OZ too and our PM is also trying to take Hostpital care from the states.
Llewellyn, the national director of the Democratic Socialists of America, says he was struck by one player in the 2008 presidential elections who displayed more socialistic leanings than Obama.
This candidate raised taxes on the big oil companies, and sent the revenue to the people.
If you want to learn something about spreading the wealth, Llewellyn says, don't look to Obama.
"To be honest, the most socialist candidate in the 2008 election was Sarah Palin."

Well, would you prefer all the fat-cats up top to be rolling around in their 9 million dollars a year salaries, contributing to pollution and running the lives of the working class?
Or should the government be doing it, and using all the profits towards "government-things" ?
