Mt. Etna Eruption ~ Local Coverage (latest event: Feb. 19 0500 local time! )

The sound is incredible.

The wind's blowing in the opposite direction from here so I'm not sure if there's ash raining down.

Her top is a spectacular pulsing glow and as I said before She's putting out a lot of noise but there's no lava flow like last time - no half the mountain lit up with fire - just that top of her's giving a visual to go with the noise.

0306 now and I've got to try to get some sleep, big day tomorrow. If she keeps it up I'll be back, if not, it's dream land for me or I'll be worthless tomorrow.

This one's going to be going on for a while.
Not much sleep last night - a lot of noise from her - and this morning? Wow, she's really putting out the ash and smoke. A real nasty smell this morning too. The 'rain-ah' (phonetic Sicilian for the sandy rocky ash that rains down) is just pouring out. There's going to be problems on the roads this morning from the mountain towns to Giarra and everywhere in between.

The noise is actually increasing as I'm typing. Yeah, this episode's going to take a bit to calm.

This is why ATS is so great, You turn on CNN you get bull # and commercials, you log on ATS and you get this kinda news before the msm can touch it. Nice reporting! And stay safe. My thoughts are with you, keep us updated!

Sun coming out strong - and it sounds like it’s hailing out - from the fallout.

New 'fallout' - hitting hard a few minutes ago - letting up now - noise increasing as are the tremors when she blows.

Not at all I'm afraid. I hava a strong love of Etna. I did a press report about her that got me my photography degree with the help of some of the local people. I study volcanos and come to ATS for lessons. My job is computer coding

Glad you enjoy the pictures.

I wouldn't want you to go to the trouble of mailing a cam, lol, but I sure do have to find a way to get the 'noise' she's making into this thread. My camera will take short video, but, something is wrong with the sound output. I get video, no sound, so, it's really not worth it to waste my batteries on something where stills do just as well. I have a feeling it's broken, and not a setting, as, I had 'sound' on it a couple of years ago. (And yes, I know! It's time for a new camera)!

Added note: The word for 'noise' in Italian is 'rumore' (roo-more-eh)... I get such a kick out of that! Etna's spreading rumors everywhere! Hehehe...

And as I type She's getting LOUDER! WOW! This might end up turning into quite an event!
