I read the entire thing. Enough bogus info that I don't have time to debunk it line by line. I hope someone else does. Why America doesn't suck...

I've been to over 40 different countries. I've recieved medical care in several socialized systems worldwide. The care is not on par with what we recieve in the US. Wehn my son had cancer I watched one of the Saudi Princes bring his child into CHKD in Norfolk, VA for treatment. Could have gone anywhere in the world. He came here. That tells you something when one of the wealthiest humans on the planet comes to America for treatment.

Low standard of living? Almost half of Americans don't pay taxes. You can actually own your home, luve where you want, go to school where you want and have the job you want, as long as you work for it. That's it.

The problem is moderation as policy leads nowhere. We tolerate everything in this country. You can shoot an American who joins Al Quaeda but the terrorists get civil trials. It's ok to be anything... Everything is societies fault. He didn't get enough hugs. Let's get a single payer health system and create mediocrity there as well.

The biggest problem with America is we tolerate mediocrity. We've gone from a group striving to reach great heights to taking care of the stupid and lazy. The bottom 40% in incomes don't pay income tax yet they complain about tax cuts on the wealthy, the ones who do pay. I don't want to get a job and stay for 3 months and get insurance, I want the gubment to give it to me. Why should I have to work, extend my unemployment. Do you know how many flat screen tvs FEMA paid for in New Orleans after Katrina? How many people used their emergency funds for Shrimp?

If you can not have a job and have income, healthcare, housing, food, etc.... how in the hell is that a low standard of living? I've been to India and China, yea they are better off as a whole, whatever. If I really had to pick another country to live in, Australia would be it.

This country was great when people were allowed to live in poverty. When you make that not an option people lose their drive and determination. This is a great country because of all the immigrants that came here and busted their ass to build something. Nobody handed them anything. Now we give everything away. People here take things for granted. They are soft. And it's getting worse. And pretty soon, nobody will hates us because we'll be just like the rest of the world.

Having read through most of the posts after I posted on the 5th page, I ask myself, did anyone actually read what I wrote and quoted? Amazing.

We brush off that which makes sense and has the probability of being true to argue about the most trivial things, YES, everyone should be armed, whether you use it or not. Yes, we all need to eat to survive. And yes we all must do something to create goods or services to keep the population evolving. These things should not be argued at all. It makes no sense to me why the arguements over guns or work or health.

Common sense, it would seem, has flown the coop. Nothing here but hen pecking chickens any more. Some people had great comments, some were ignored. Not that ackownledgement is needed, but why comment on the obvious I guess. Let's argue amongst ourselves while TPTB laugh and rape the planet even more. Good for us.

There is a very good book titled "While America Sleeps", I would suggest that everyone read it. TPTB don't need to sleep, they work round the clock to clean our clocks!!!!

I do understand that crime is high over there, and I can understand the need for a gun as it is right now. But something is wrong when you need a gun to feel safe.

Ive been to California, so I've seen a little bit of how it can be. I found it shocking that a industrialized nation in the western world had so much violence, crime and poverty.

But I still dont see the connection between guns and freedom. From where I stand the easy access to guns limits the freedom. Everyone has them, you can get shot for looking in the wrong direction. Guns will perhaps make the everyday life a bit safer, but its only short term solution.

And I find it kinda funna so many say that guns equals freedom because you need them to defend yourself from the other dude with a gun. It nullifies the argument.

Freedom for me is to able to walk where I want without having to bring my personal arsenal to feel safe.

That'd be great, except the government can't regulate "morality",and there will always be those that want to take advantage of weakness in others, and those who have no qualms about shooting people.

Haven't you heard the expression:"When guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns"?

From another angle,if you were out in the woods and being attacked by a bear, what would you rather have, someone throwing rocks at it or someone with a gun who could put it down and save your life?

But why is the crimerate so extremely high in the U.S? Guns dont solve the crimeproblem, just keep it in a stalemate.
And where do all the guns come from in the first place? Its a never ending spiral of violence...

Why do you americans feel that you have to carry a gun all the time?

You think that murderers, rapists, and robbers allow you to choose the time when a person can be robbed, your child can be abducted or worse, or when a woman will be raped?....

Do your criminals allow you to choose the time when they will attack you?...

Why is it that non-Americans such as yourself seem to think that a criminal will allow you to go home to get your weapon to defend yourself?...

Are you people really that naive?...

You don't get to choose when you are going to be robbed, raped, or even murdered, hence it is important to be protected at all times....

Yes, being able to carry a gun IS ABOUT FREEDOM, just like being able to speak your mind AT ANY TIME if you think you must....

Yes there should be exceptions...for example if someone has threatened another person's life without a good cause such a person shouldn't be armed.

BTW, in EVERY country where law abidding citizens have been banned to carry, or to own weapon crime HAS INCREASED.... I wonder why that is....

Most crimes in the United States occur in cities where guns are banned, or heavily restricted.... I wonder why....

But it seems that some people, and mostly non-Americans apparently, can't put two and two together and still think that their "selfrighteous morals" should be imposed on everyone.....

If it is one kind of people that is self rightous, its the overly patriotic americans. If you people actually bothered to look inward for a second instead mounting another gunrack in your F-250 to feel a fake sense freedom, perhaps you would understand that guns dont solve crime.

How did it become that bad? I havent been to any other with such brutal crimes. Its not enough to rob a guy, no, he has be shot aswell just for the heck of it. Its crazy.

the governments that offer govt healthcare can afford (yeh right) is they have no military to budget for. they suck off the USA for their protection. freedom take guts and rugged individualism and whoever is too week for this type of living should look for greener pastures is some other nation. Things are different here in America but it is being stolen away by euro-maggot wannabes.
Just the way i see it.

That's part of the problem with America. Everyone is to busy complaining about how evidentially bad their way of living is and not taking action in their own lives to change their situation. It's always someone else's fault and not their own. You have seriously become soft, America. It's only a matter of time before we destroy ourselves from within because there are too many people looking on the outside. Take the time to stop posting on here, set the keyboard down and make sure that your life is where you want it to be. If it's not, ask yourself why. Don't ask me, him, her, congress, the president. Ask yourself. But, chances are you're just going to continue to lie to yourself saying you tried and it's not your fault. That's just a weak cop out for not wanting to take responsibility.

Like some of the earlier posters here, you have to wonder if you're 10+ pages into the responses... will anybody even see it?

Oh well, here goes anyway.

I don't know what health insurance you people have that make you satisfied with the state of health care in this country. It's obviously not available in my area. I am a subscriber with an HMO as their's is the only premium I can afford. Even with that, and a $1000 deductible, the premiums for family coverage are equivalent to a 16% tax and if we actually have an emergency that rate will go to over 18%. Add that to my other taxes and my effective rate is currently 40% with social security (not counting state, local or sales taxes).

The primary care physician I am assigned to is every bit as overworked as any doctor in the Canadian system. Trying to see a specialist can easily take as much as 8 weeks. This is one area I could rant on endlessly... talking about the shortcomings of HMOs. More traditional insurance has it's own nefarious methods.

Yes, ours is a great system if you are in a position to BUY your treatment, like the Saudi Prince. If you're one of the poor tax paying serfs, you're relegated to standing in line and being treated by physicians assistants in training hospitals and you have to pray that you don't contract MRSA while in their care.

My biggest gripe is overall value. Our tax rate is ALREADY nearly as high as any developed country in the world, but we have nothing to show for it other than an extraordinary war machine and bloated government.

In many developed countries, you're eligible for a secondary education for those tax dollars, paid time off, healthcare. Not here; in fact, unless you're prepared to PAY for education, you're lucky if you get better than mediocre primary education, our infrastructure is falling apart, no health care, etc.

For those who do not understand people wanting to maintain their right to bear arms, you need to read and understand the second amendment. If ever in the history of this country people needed to be armed, it is NOW. Unfortunately, we have funded our government's superior armament.

It IS a crying shame that so many gun owners abuse their rights. If you will do your research, you will find that crime rates actually DROP when states adopt an open carry policy. Then, and only then, it's NOT just criminals that have guns.

Holy moly...I am floored by the responses that some people have made regarding why you need a gun in America. Completely floored.

I had NO IDEA America was full of criminals, rapists, murderers, robbers and the such. That is freaking insane. Especially that dude that rattled off like 6 stories about how him or his friends were actually shot or shot at randomly by someone.

I mean, forget the article in the first post. You yourself just said YOU LIVE IN A LAND FULL OF RAPISTS AND MURDERERS and you admit that you live in fear of getting robbed, killed, or having your family killed that you feel the need to carry a weapon on you at all times!

Think about that for a minute!

Why the heck would anyone want to live in a country where this is the situation? This completely boggles my mind!

Dude... I started low paying retail job, busted my butt and kept a good attitude and moved up to a good paying retail job, continued to bust my butt and moved to a great paying retail job,.... I still work retail and I still bust my butt after 25 years... plan on doing so for the next 15 years. Then I am retiring...don't plan on social security...won't be there, maybe.

Anyway, my wife and I are saving and investing now for then, thats why I shopped for groceries last night with a 100 dollar budget for 2 weeks. Trust me, if we can do it...you can too.

It'd good to see that someone else actually gets it. Star for you man. Liberty means RESPONSIBILITY!! You are in charge of YOUR OWN situation. The Corporate/Government doesn't care about you or your whining. Set the record straight and free yourself and take care of yourself and family. WE don't need the government interfering in our lives. The Federal Government has ONLY the powers to deal in foreign commerce. The State governments CAN NOT legislate laws UPON the people, they deal with State and inter State commerce. What don't you people understand about governments role?

THAT is the problem, gimme, gimme, gimme!!!! GFY. That's what I say.

Wake the hell up already for pete's sake.

And for those people that don't understand owning guns. Wherever gun laws have been passed, crime has gone up. CRIMINALS DON'T SURRENDER THEIR GUNS, NUMBNUTS!!!

Protect yourself and family.

So our standard of living is low because of healthcare? Wonder why it is then that so many wealthy people from other countries come here to get their medical needs meet? Oh is it because we have so many entitlement types without 'cadillac healthcare plans'

one less socialist, millions more to go... Our ancetors left there home nation to get away from oppresive governments only to see one rise here.... Maybe I can move to another planet if we find one

If you trace most of the leftist/socialist's today in America most of them have one thing in common. Their ancestors(most of them) came over from Europe after the 1910's...

The problem with socialism, communism, feminism and other Euro-Centric ism's is that this isn't Europe. This is America and we have our own way of doing things. All those foreign political ideologies do is keep us from exploring our options.
