why do u people care if bush is going to be in florida today? nobody ever predicted bush to be assinated today.
I was puzzled about this too, but in fairness to those noting Bush's unscheduled visit to Florida, I think we all can agree at this point that time
may be one of the things that can be off in a premonition, just like anything else.
The time of August 15, 2004, 2:12 PM may have some significance to these predictions, or it may mean something only to SBP, or it may mean nothing at
all. It could simply be a figure that popped into her head. If you read her posts, while she does convey a stridency and confidence that can be
convincing, she also repeatedly warns that she
can be wrong, even though the images are clearly very strong and compelling to her.
Let's not forget that although SBP claims a high degree of historical accuracy in her premonitions, she does not claim perfection. In reviewing this
thread I note that she has repeatedly conceded that she could be wrong about any number of details, or even on all of them.
She is not a prophet, has never claimed to be a prophet, and I think it's wrong, therefore, to apply the classical standards reserved for prophets to
her. She can be wrong. This is neither surprising or scandalous. We all can be wrong.
Rather than adopting a rather dubious dichotomy of "belief" versus "disbelief", I recommend a more reasoned approach using observation and
analysis. We need not make any emotional investment in the outcome of her predictions, although that can be difficult in light of the subject
matter.
My approach to this thread and SBPs premonitions remains as follows:
1) Skepticism, not cynicism, is a valuable tool. Dont believe anything until it is established as fact beyond a reasonable doubt. Do not let one
inaccuracy falsely imply another.
2) Dont read things into SBPs premonitions that arent there. Let her do the talking.
3) Compare her predictions to what actually happens over time by looking for matches between her statements and what transpires as reported by
reliable news sources.
4) Separate the message from the messenger. Whether SBP is really Penny Marshall or Comic Book Guy is irrelevant. What matters is what she says and
whether or not it comes to pass.
5) Seek to understand what is causing these premonitions. By better understanding how SBP comes to see these things, we might better understand what
she is seeing.
Although I have maintained a skeptical attitude toward SBPs predictions from the start, I also remain very interested in them, and hope she wont be
driven off the board by cynics (not the same as skeptics).
For reasons I cannot fully disclose at this time, I am somewhat convinced that SBP is being honest with us. Time will tell if this assessment is
misplaced on my part, but I am willing to give it time, because I think there is something worth paying attention to here.
Believing she is being honest is not the same as believing all her predictions will come true, and this is a critical distinction for skeptics like
myself. I advise not throwing the baby out with the bathwater when it comes to SBP. There is something to this, whatever it may be, and I want to find
out what it is.
Stay tuned if you like, but always remember that your mileage may vary.
Edit: Added backwards subliminal messages.
