Cuban revolutionary leader Fidel Castro on Thursday declared passage of American health care reform "a miracle" and a major victory for Obama's presidency, but couldn't help chide the United States for taking so long to enact what communist Cuba achieved decades ago.

This is great, and like the article says it is probably not want the dems wanted to hear.

"We consider health reform to have been an important battle and a success of his (Obama's) government," Castro wrote in an essay published in state media, adding that it would strengthen the president's hand against lobbyists and "mercenaries."

Love it when we have communists praising our government, empower communist governments even more.

So we have went from a point in time in this nation from when JFK backed Castro off...to Castro praising Obama.

Strengthen Obamas hand against lobbyists? Isn't that kind of a backwwards statement? I'm sure having a communist praise him has alot of Obamas appointees just giddy. After all, isn't this their ideology?

You can always tell if you are right or wrong by the people coming to you aid. All democrats should take a good hard look and ask yourself is this truly what I want? But I think most of the people here on ATS are so far to the other side or actually on the pay roles it does not matter.


The funniest part is the very people who want this and are helping anyway they can are going to be surprised when they do get complete power. Who would you rather keep a group of people that love change or steady minded conservatives. Let history be your teacher. When they line up all of the ducks the change crowd will be the first to go because they always want change. It is kinda ironic in a way. But I guess you can never underestimate stupidity.

Health care in Cuba is not very good despite the propaganda they put out, I don't think Obama want's his blessing in this, nor the same results....

Castro doesn't give a rats a** about our heathcare system and how he believes it's putting us on the right track. Why would he?

He said what he did because he see's a HUGE rift between our government and itself, and us,the people. He see's this country falling apart at the seems and he just wanted to add fuel to the fire. And he succeeded.

What could be worse for a country that likes to try to tell itself that it's a democracy, than the leader of a communist country to say - " Good job, keep up the good work!"

This country is getting dumber,weaker, more confused and divided by the minute and he knows that, and he's using that against us.

He may be crazy, but he's not stupid. Not by a long shot.

These type of posts always make me laugh. First you don't care what the world thinks of you...then you care when it supports your beliefs. I have no idea why Castro's comments would be a big deal...he is offering his opinion...and he also states that he does not agree with Obama on most of his policies and that he thinks that he is an IMPERIALIST CAPALIST. But let's forget tat stuff and only pick the stuff that show help your beliefs.

I guess he feels the same way about Canada.

Men who unapologetically do/did real evil things.
That should have frightened more people than it did.
FOX was pretty silent on that point.

Same could be said for America...I noticed you only posted pictures that help your beliefs and left out any the pictures that show the good side of Cuba.

Health care is not communism, but just the normal thing in a civilized country.
Cuba also has a low rate of illiterates. Maybe some here also think, that the ability to write is a communist idea.

There must be a reason why the USA has such a big deficit in the budget...

No one ever said anything bad about Cuba, part of the topic of this discussion deals with the affects caused by Castro on Cuba and its people. It's been a good 50 years since Fidel rose to power and his people still suffer from the results of his initial actions and decisions.

50 years, that's half a century.

Point being, will this country suffer the same fate in 50 years as a direct result of Obama's actions?
