Okay let's do this in a simpler fashion...
Here comes the choo-choo with the information that you brain will digest...choo-choo! Chug-a-chug chug, chug-a-chug chug, time to open up the tunnel door, that's right, choo-choo!
So people having sex can = syphilis.
More people communicating with others that they wish to have sex can = more syphilis + more people.
If given an infinite number of years there could be infinite people with syphilis.
Gotcha.

So basically, as more people use facebook to meet up ith people for sex, the number of STIs increases... I fail to see what is hard to grab about that?
It doesn't blame facebook for the diseases, simply says that people use it to meet people for casual sex. I've been propositioned on it, and so have many others.
The same can be said for bebo, myspace and all those other similar sites out there, they don't cause us to have casual sex, they just make it much easier. That is all the article is saying.

So, it's facebook's fault and not the people neglecting to participate in safe sex?
Well, that just makes tons of sense.
While abstinence from any sexual activity is very effective at helping prevent syphilis, it should be noted that T. pallidum readily crosses intact mucosa and cut skin, including areas not covered by a condom. Proper and consistent use of a latex condom may be effective against the spread of syphilis through sexual contact, although this cannot be guaranteed due to the ease with which non-genital body parts can be infected.

So now your PC is the cause of you getting VD. This has to be one of the stupidest things I have seen in a while and that says a lot.
Exactly how does Facebook cause you not to take proper measures when having sex? Are we to believe that folks who meet someone on-line and then have sex somehow more likely to use protection were they to meet them some other way?
Clearly there is no casual relationship between the two.
Coming next is a tax on Facebook usage afterall, VD costs money to treat and therefore it should be discouraged.

THIS ARTICLE IS STUPID.
SAYING that people meeting on facebook increase cases of STD is about as stupid as saying that when two cars meet it increase cases of driver death.
WE ALL KNOW that if we increased the frequency of car wrecks, it wouldn't increase the frequency of deaths, JUST LIKE INCREASING the frequency of casual sex meetings doesn't increase STDs.
STDS ARE THE SAME NO MATTER HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE CASUAL SEX. IT'S not even like STDs spread when more and more people meet up to have casual sex.
FOR EXAMPLE say that one guy knows 3 women who he has casual sex with, then that adds up to two stds per sex.
THEN IF you increase that to one guy knows 30 women, he can still only infect 2 of them women due to the fact that you can only infect people a certain number of times... and even those two infected women can't inflect anyone else since women can't.
JUST LIKE YOU CAN ONLY CAR WRECK A NUMBER OF TIMES.
DUHHHHH!!!!!
