Carlthulhu, thanks for sharing your experience.

Please can you let us know was that at an airport or just out and about?

Also just to see if the claims made by many are correct, or we fear monger as much as tptb, to be balanced... what if you don’t mind is your nationality, religion and cultural background? (If you don’t want to say that is OK I am just interested.)

Was passing through, and they wondered why I don't behave like everybody else. Made me feel very unwelcome. I don't think I will ever visit Britain again.

Did they actually pinpoint what the behaviour was that was not normal, or what do you think it was?

Also I am sorry you had a Bad visit to Britain.

This feeling you have exemplifies the whole issue at hand.

Britain, and the USA by its very nature and founding, have always been seen from within and without as places of refuge, sanctuary from insular and regime like nations in there histories.

This is certainly changing very quickly, and as the OP points out I think this is the actual goal in some way of these measures.

I am sorry you did not feel welcome, they are trying but most British and American people are very open and warm and tolerant; please don’t fall for the same trap as they putting on us, of basketting all people into box of characteristics and behaviour.

Where do cluster headaches fit into this? Sorry if I missed something...

That is pretty much every person I know! We grow our own food too...is that bad?

Burning man is ground zero recruitment area! get some cameras out there quick!

I am sorry Kidikarious I did not explain that well.

I have known people who suffer from cluster headaches or Migraines who have to stay in the house and avoid all contact with others for long periods, with their curtains closed as sensitivity to lights, noise, and the inability to interact properly due to the debilitating nature of those conditions.

Burning Man well they would have a field day eh lol.

Kind Regards,

Elf

Well they'd love me if they came round my house.

I ring true to many of these points, but i also served my country and am a law abiding citizen who is not about to start a terror campaign of any kind.

Yes the government are a bunch of idiots, but thats another issue, and again, not one to start "terror" over.

I get migraines, bad ones, the kind where you are in bed all day puking your guts up, so they are free to come round to check my place out any time they like, but if the curtains are closed during the day, i'd advice them to bring a mop and bucket and be quiet when they knock.

I don't think these posters are completely unnecesary, but someone with a lot of fuel or chemicals could quite easily be a prepper, not a terrorist.

Again, for the record, i'm not a terrorist, i'm a dad of two girls who has migraines (real ones) and likes to have more than one box of washing powder in the cupboard.

Wow, that describes me to a "T". (Explanations in ())
*no credit cards - pay cash (learned not to live beyond means!)
*curtains closed - ALWAYS (headaches & temp control - economics)
*white van (has wheelchair lift)
* three sheds (can you imagine the JUNK I have accumilated???)
*no bank acct (why??? my money is safer with me)
*many cell phones (the darn things keep breaking)
*dont go out much (rural area, gas prices, hassle with wheelchair)
*when I do go anywhere usually have bag/briefcase (if I get stuck somewhere I want something to do - read/comp etc)
*definitely dont send out the "welcome wagon" in the neighborhood (unless you consider chasing off meth labs around here, in which case - the "paddy wagon", we watch before we say you might be ok. shut down 3 labs within a 4 HOUSE area)
*have computer all the time (again, entertainment)
*rarely any visitors (I dont want unannounced visitors! If I want to see you I will MEET up with you )

For the record - I am NOT a terrorist.

I had considered posting in detail about my experience, but am afraid it will be too easy to identify me. I might still do so. (we'll see)
For now I'm going to keep it vague:

I was traveling elsewhere via Britain, using undisclosed.
I am a special person (one of a kind) and currently very hairy.

My religion is already known on these boards: I am a Discordian Extremist.

[EDIT]: What could have alerted them to me? I dress in a practical (not fashionable) way, my accent is very hard to place, I watch my surroundings with interest, did I mention that I was hairy? I don't fit into any mold I can think of... [/EDIT]

During my short (~4h) stay in Britain, I was approached by two friendly Officers.
As I didn't have the time to play the "Am I under arrest?"-game,
and was interested in what sort of questions they'd be asking, I agreed to go with them.
They had my Passport, and I had to verify my name & stuff.
They asked about my mode of travel, how I got on, where I got on, what I was doing there, how I got there, what I was doing before I started my travels, what my parents do, what color car I drive, where the nukes are, my personal history, the personal history of damn near everybody in my family tree, what my dog ate for breakfast ...

They were friendly, but to me it felt like they were asking "How dare you come to Britain, how dare you catch a ride on undisclosed, how dare you breathe our air, ...!
(this is a country that treats its' own citizens in this manner too. "How dare you be a British citizen living in London" they don't trust their own people to walk their dogs peacefully, so they set up CCTV)

Again: That was the atmosphere, how it felt to me, weighing me down...

Any answer spawned a new question, trying to dig as deep as they could.
Though the session went civil, and humorous, it felt very tense to me.
These guys were trying hard to find something to classify me as, to tie me down with.
Despite that feeling I got the hang of it rather quickly, and found ways to bait them with answers that could be misconstrued (their eyes would light up) only to defuse the unavoidable followup question with a rather mundane & boring fact.

Once they realized that they were getting nowhere, they brought up my service in IQ, and how I can possibly tolerate the war with my religion (they assumed I was christian or something) or politically -Basically trying to determine whether I'm prone to extremist views... And I told them that religion has even less to do with this than politics. (successful block?)

That prompted them to pause, and follow up on some loose ends in my personal life, and when that got them useless info, they decided to search my bag. They commented on all the useless stuff I carry, and one of them turned on my camera to admire my collection of pictures with utter blackness
(I truthfully told him that I was playing with the shutter settings to take pictures of the night sky)

During the entire ordeal I was fingering the metal box I keep my passport in.
They asked me about that, and I went on about how they should know how insecure the RFID is, as their country was the one that pioneered this tech for passports, and how within 24h after the first of its' kind was issued, some British hackers cracked & copied one from a distance with commercially available equipment worth less that $60.

I also gave them a piece of my mind on constantly being the one to be picked for their "random" profiling searches.
How, doing so, they allow real terrorists to slip through the cracks.
Constant harassment like this tends to make people more security conscious...
They actually agreed with that, we shared a little laugh, and they let me go on with my business.

Overall, I think I did rather well. Despite giving them some info they had no business whatsoever knowing.
Though I felt repressed (I still feel tense just reliving it right now) I managed to keep my cool.
Some of you might say that I was stupid for going with it, (and you are probably right) but this harrowing experience taught me some new things, and it could have been alot worse.

Thanks Casing, and I feel as you say many fit into this "Description" box but 99.99999 % are not terrorists either.

If though we will labelled as one seems like a differant matter.

OMG a Discordian well definately then you will not fit into the mold!

I have not thought or read about that Philosophy for years, however when I first did I was attracted to the study of the similarities with Anarchy.

Years later when first getting into Meditation and other such things it reminded also of Zen-Archy.

Your post is very telling, and informative, thank you. I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall in that interview room.

I imagine you totally baffled the officers, well done (as you are not a Terrorist (I assume lol).

Thanks.

Kind Regards

Funny isnt it?

the 9/11 suppossed terrorists lived across the road from some Fbi/Cia guys, were reported for wanting to fly planes and not take off or land, were Arabs etc etc etc...

And yet even though all of this they were left be.

But if you have your curtains closed and are shy, against cash you are to shopped as a terrorist.

Insanity imho.

Kind Regards,

Elf.

That's a really decent point. The 9/11 'hijackers' were seen out and about drinking in bars, in Vegas gambling and partying with lots of paid escorts.

The 7/7 bombers included a school teacher and 2 of them were very active in local council / race / religious relations in the South Yorkshire area.

But of course... these were 'manufactured' terrorists who thought they were taking part in a role play drill.

Perhaps now that the lone wolf scenario is taking off (yes, I know the 2 recent 'terrorists' had contracts with some suspicious clients too) perhaps the police are profiling this 'new' kind of terrorist with these adverts?

Basically anyone can be a terrorist. I've seen people snap in public over being short changed, over someone saying 'hello' in the street to a stranger, and particularly in road rage incidents. Anyone can snap at anytime.

What they're actually profiling is us... for the most part anyone interested in sciences, technology or politics on a 'hobby' basis will more than likely fit this bill. They're profiling conspiracy theorists, not terrorists, and why? Because the truth is more dangerous than any explosives in the wrong hands - and the internet is making that possible.

Totalitaria here we come, armed with the truth, and not afraid to use it!!

Well, prepare to go out once a week to a restaurant or bar, and spend more time on your front porches or back yard with some music on. In fact play the music sort of loud to annoy those who would turn you in to authorities. On that note, a noise violation and proof that you have parties on your record could be a lifesaver in times like these. Really no matter how much they clamp down with laws the night arrives and people will have their inside time, their me time, and time to spend with the family. If not for the fact that most everyone else is asleep or inside.

I think the people this sort of ad is targetting are not dangerous, they are dangerously boring. Most people I come across that make a point of these things, I don't know them personally. They say the same anti-gov, anti-IRS, or whatever kick they are on everytime... They sound like a broken record and are a total turn-off to people anyway. Definetly not helping the cause so to speak, definetly not spreading awareness. It's not that they come across as kooks or nuts, or angry even either, they are just flat out BORING and say the same thing everytime.

In fact the police are probably going to get very bored interviewing these types. And boy when they find out all the Ron Paul people are geeks who wouldn't hurt a fly. Then they will get to feel how their comrades in the narcotics department/war on drugs feel now... decades of time wasted!

As others have said about fitting the description, so do i.

I have a large workshop in the garden. Filled with many tools and books on subjects from electrical, mechanics, metal fabrication ect. i spend a lot of time in the workshop working on many projects.

I have an extensive library on most subjects, better burn the chemistry, biology ect books.

I have books on military history and weapons and procedures. From being ex military and interested in this subject.

since leaving the military, i stay awake most of the night reading or researching. So curtains drawn and lights on. When others are asleep.

I have a keen interest in survival and camping, caving, climbing. So i have the items for this in my house.

I exercise a lot and go endurance walking with backpacks to keep fit.

I have many maps of the uk, as i go into the countryside and camp, cave ect.

So could someone give me the hotline number, as i feel i should hand myself in now...sarcastic comment...

I remember when we were under the threat of the IRA for so many years and the fear and suspicion was nowhere near were it is today.

about this that was posted.....

"Normal Behaviour, in an unusual way" wow that's an oxymoron.

Does that mean i should find an unusual way to look for normal behavior. So standing in the front garden in a pixie suit with a hat with a bell on it. Is ok as long as im looking for normal behaviour...

Oh dear me i forgot, add to the above im a member here at ATS, i am now waiting for the full force of our state protectors to come crashing through the door soon.

We all will be soon so busy looking and spying on the people in our community. That we all will be acting in an unusual way, creeping about, spying over fences. That we will be reporting each other for the very things they want us to spy on..

Well a lot of ATSers may be a bit reclusive but they have their hobbies and they are interesting people. I think the sorts this campaign would be against may be less educated and less cultural to try and describe.

Most anyone on here self-described as a recluse sounds pretty interesting to me, and you'd have plenty to talk about around the dinner table, more than me, and I get by. So going out once a week really doesn't seem that big of a challenge, that passes for a social life frankly.

As we have learned with the war on terror, the terrorists pick on the biggest target, the one they hate most.

Just don't make yourself the biggest target. People that are looking in on things with one-sided, myopic viewpoints and hoping to cause violence and not looking for non-violent answers are NOT helping anyway.

I've just had a conversation with the Anti-Terrorism hotline, and managed to record it.

The link to the file is below.

www.knittersworldscarborough.com...

Download it, and tell me what you think...

My thoughts are that the guy doesn't give a damn that I fit the description of a terrorist. His suggestions of what I should do to complain, frankly, take the proverbial urine!

I guess I'm a terrorist.
I don't talk to strangers if I dont feel a reason to do so.
I only pay with cash because 1) I dont like writing my name 2)I dont like showing my ID 3) I dont like being profiled. 4) I can be sure I lose the right amount of money without having to go and check. 5) Cash can be used everywhere. Although, I rarely keep too much cash on me either, just in case I got mugged on the street, the robber wouldn't get almost anything.
I'm such a bad terrorist, I should be locked into gitmo and kept there..right?

I think just about everyone on ATS fits into these "normal but unusual behaviors." I'm waiting for them to get a list of all the members and start knocking down the doors of everyone with an opinion. Hell, they'll probably use this thread as their starter lol.

Now that's scary! Describes me to a tee. "Goes to open the freaking shades." Now I'll most likely end up in jail for walking around my own house with no clothes on, keep my shades closed they will still come after me. Damed if ya do damed if ya don't.

be aware that the government wants to know about you.

Well, then...I propose that we simply give them what they want.

For example, that neighbor of yours who wears a gun every day...surely he must be a terrorist. His claim that he is a police officer is obviously just a cover. And what about that man you saw on the news spreading a conspiracy theory about muslim terrorists hijacking and crashing a plane? Surely he is spreading dangerous lies and should be reported.

I remember someone once claiming that the Salem witch trials came to an end after people started reporting judges and inquisitors as witches.

If they want terrorists, give them terrorists.

Wow, didn't think it would be this soon in all honesty.

At least a false flag or something first? Seems they don't even need to bother anymore. I'll have to check my copy of V for Vendetta because this isn't how it was suppose to go!

V's speech to the people of Britain, quite apt I'd say, considering the circumstances:

Systems of surveilance coercing your conformity.

Have no idea if that video will work, no idea what the 'video number' is.

Enjoy

Edit to add:

Hey! the video worked, good guess!

Okay,
I peeked out of my window and saw a neighbor walking his dog. I swear he was looking at my house. He probably wonders what I do in here, with all of this brass.
But wait, how would he know I had brass?
Okay...don't panic.
I keep my doors locked. Check.
My curtains are always closed. Check.
My video surveillance has been online for years. (Kept me away from those weird white guys with white shirts and dark pants carrying some kind of communist propaganda, I bet.)
Breathe!
Maybe he saw me run to the shed that dark night to get more...
wait, what am I saying?
Ha Ha Ha...
JUST kidding! I keep my copy of "Dreams of My Father" in there for safe-keeping. That is the BEST book.
Really.
Um, anyway. I will see you guys at the YMCA. Be good.
