New Israeli Law Forbids Palestinians From Mourning Or “Showing Signs Of Sadness”

new law in Israel makes it a crime to commemorate what Palestinians call the “Nakba”, the “catastrophe” of their dispossession by the creation of the Zionist state in 1948. The Knesset, Israel’s parliament, has passed “The Nakba Draft Law” after just one reading. Penalties will be imposed on anyone showing signs of sadness and mourning within the (undefined) borders of Israel on 15 May; Palestinians remember on that day the creation of the refugee crisis that remains after 62 years.

Hebrew radio reported this week that the law is intended to stop people mourning on what is Israeli Independence Day; commemorative acts are, it is claimed, tantamount to “denying the Jewish character of Israel [and] insulting the symbols of the state”. The radio noted that the fines might amount up to three times the expenditure of commemorative programmes.

The Nakba bill is stupid idea since it is not going to be enforced. However this is not reason enough to lie about it, and your source openly lies. Nobody will be jailed for mourning, it's not what was voted for. This law (that is not passed yet) will stop funding to government-supported organisations that somehow are involved in Nakba commemoration. Not less idiotic since i would like to see funding stopped to left-wing groups that do this - would never happen, but situation is still totally different from what your source claims.
P.S - No we do not eat babies for breakfast either here.

It has been passed already and it speaks a lot about the so called democracy in Israel. If it's not going to be enforced why pass it then?

Israel’s parliament has approved “The Nakba Draft Law” which will make commemorating the Nakba or catastrophe a crime.

Penalties will be imposed on anyone showing signs of sadness and mourning within the (undefined) borders of Israel on May 15.

Source and here

What is it lying about exactly?

The law that has already been passed and what part of penalties and criminalization you dont understand?

Really no one asked you but it's curious to note how you try to defend yourself against which no one has even said or intended in this thread. It would only mean you are speaking out of guilt.

So now people cannot feel sad also in Israel, wow now that's beating Hitler in his own game.

A law that forbids showing grief over the theft over one's homeland? I say GRIEVE LOUDER!!!! They don't "like" that? too bad! If Israel is SO beautiful, then don't look at the grief!! Look at the sea, the mountains, the temple, something other than my grieving....but to pass a law that FORBIDS the showing normal sadness over illegal theft, well thats what the Khmer Rouge did in Cambodia, in the 70's. From a comparison that spans the Nazi's to the Khmer Rouge, doing pretty good, there!

I've noticed more and more people are seeing the Zionist government for what it really is, the whole reason for all the chaos all the wars etc is because Israel is occupying Palestine and committing genocide against them. Israel is the scum of the earth to me, if the Israeli elections are truly democratic then I guess the majority of the people are too.

I am beginning to think the entire Jewish population of Israel has lost their minds.

They have really turned into Nazi's.

None of the sources you cite are a primary source and none offer any links to any official ste to prove their assertions. You have offered no verifiable proofs.

I expect better research and backup from ATS members.

At this point I have to withhold judgment.

Using source that says lie to prove that it is not a lie is not wise.
Simple question - have you read the law? Or only this source?
Here is what this is all about from person who initiated it:

The Knesset's Constitution, Law and Justice Committee passed in second reading the "refined Nakba law". According to the amended proposal, the Treasury will be authorized to cut off funding to institutions that support activity that undermines the Jewish and democratic character of the State of Israel. However, there will be no criminal aspects to marking the Israeli Independence Day as a day of mourning. Beytenu MK Alex Miller, who initiated the bill, said, "I have no doubt that the current formula addresses that various threats that use democracy to flight it and undermine its foundations."

Sorry for extremely long quote.
beytenu.org...
Now do you understand why i said this thing about babies? By the way - those who said all kinds of nasty things based on lie in the link provided by OP can take their words back. Doubt that though since truth is irrelevent, only "bash Israel" fashion is.
Edit: by the way, i can bring the text of this law, but it is in Hebrew.
Edit: If anyone GENUINLY interested wants translation (be warned - i even do not know how to write genuinly) i can translate it to the best of my abilities.

The end of the linked article's original source says

Source: Quds Press

So now Iran's Revolutionary Guard are in the investigative journalism business.

This site has become infiltrated by Iranian propagandists.

He can say whatever he wants to hide the ugly truth since the link of his website also do not have the copy of law he is only expressing is opinion. And why the racist law against it's own citizens? That means Israeli Jewish and Israeli Arabs are not treated equally. It's just one step further to distort history and hide it's deeds.

Every single reference to this on a Google Search quotes the same Revolutionary Guard piece.

The article also mentions falsified statistics gathered the mysterious "Mezan Centre for Human Rights" which unsurprisingly turns out to be an another Iranian propaganda source.

The Revolutionary Guard operatives are obviously busy these days. And their volunteer force is busy too spreading their disinformation and disclaiming anything conflicting with their programming.

Understatement? Israel has banned Israeli Arabs parties from running in elections and an Israeli Arab will never hold any senior political position because it's illegal for them to do so. Israel wouldn't know democracy if it punched it in the face.

I will post my personal feelings about such a posting as this one on the day after Israel is reported to have mushroom clouds from N to S and E to W from sea to shining sea.

When the world turns on Israel, I will voice my thoughts on this latest law to prohibit Palestinians from mourning in public. My remarks will short and to the point on that day.

This thread is about one thing propaganda it is not about truth and facts. And it brings out the shills to keep posting to make it true. The more I see the more I think this is organized. Wake up they are sucking you into lies.

There are plenty of factual stories that should be discussed about Israel good and bad. This is not one of them.
