LMFAO .. "Who are YOU?" .. it's actually a great question, who the hell is that guy? I have never heard of him before?

I hope this party gets the attention it deserves.. I hope to see the British stand up and defend themselves from annihilation by the EU .. your culture is at stake Brits..

And notice the Communist stand up and rant about how he needs to be censored. I thought these ideas correlated with someone from a land not far east of Europe.. Stalinism lives on..

I was beginning to think it was just a pet name us Irish use for you guys at this stage lol

First time I have ever seen an American call themselves a Yank too lol. Personally, I think the term needs to go.. it doesn't make much sense anymore. Even northern Americans who live in New England would never consider themselves "Yankees" lol...

It's like Americans calling Welsh/Scottish/Irish all English.

He's a Bilderberger ... that's all you need to know...

...and the clever people we are at ATS know what those Bilderbergers are up to eh?

...and I'm guessing they don't like being exposed as Bilderbergers eh!

For all of the Euroskeptics on this thread, here's the Vancouver 2010 Olympic medal count with the EU as one Team:

www.medaltracker.eu...

FYI - I'm British, liberal, and PRO Europe. I honestly hope Britian doesn't become a little backwards European state because of some misguided parties and their followers.

The only thing the video provided is to cement the UKIP's stance on the EU. Which was pretty clear anyway. I just hope that none of our European and American friends on ATS believe this to be the British stance on the EU - it isn't, it's a large MINORITY.

Wow, that's a bit harsh. I'm actually sat here with my son and slightly offended. I hope that my children are interested in ethics and acceptance. Not stereotyping and ignorance.

Note: I'm a God fearing man.

88% of Brits wanted a vote about whether or not to cede their country's sovereignty to a mostly unelected bureaucracy.
news.bbc.co.uk...

The truth is that polls have consistently shown that a safe majority of people would reject membership, which is exactly why there wasn't and won't be a referendum.

As for The EU's success in the Olympics, well good for them. As Hannan says, competition between states is equally important as important as competition between countries and individuals. The people of Europe are ceding what made their region of the world so much more productive in art, music, philosophy, than any of the more seemingly majestic kingdoms of China, Ottoman, or Mongols. All fell due to bureaucratic largesse, no matter how noble, such as in the case of the neo-confucians of China.

Unfortunately, they are losing what made them truly special. I hope UK and a few other strongly Eurosceptic states understand this, and once again carry the torch of liberty.

Individual Liberty - Family Liberty - Localism - State Sovereignty - National Sovereignty.

The chain of liberty.

I appreciate the informed reply, but I'm afraid it's something that I cannot agree on. If we're to become one whole, then the EU is a step in the right direction.

Wow.. thats excessively harsh.

You live in the United States of America which is an integrated, cross continent country.. and probably support that.. and thats fine.

But if someone supports the peaceful evolution of the European continent towards integration.. they need forgiveness from their God and their children?

Do you not see a large element of hypocrisy there?

And on top of that.. Unification is the future of mankind.. everyone should be able to see that if they looked past their little nationalist ideologies..

@Solomon

Yeah, I think accusing anyone of being anti-Europe is basically the same as accusing an American of being unpatriotic.

FYI, Baroness Ashton, appointed as high representative to European Affairs, and VP of the European Commission, was criticized (by one of the most pro-EU countries, France) because she does not speak French. In fact, she only speaks English.

Daniel Hannan speaks fluent French* and Spanish, and decent German. He's also extremely well read in European literature. If this were the measure, he is of course far more pro-Europe than her.

When he says he loves Europe, and hates the EU and thinks it is really hurting Europe, I see it in his eyes, and I believe him.

He's also, of course, elected and not an unelected Bureaucrat like Ashton and most of the powerful EU politicians.

*In the third video I posted in my post on page 3, he is speaking flawless French.

@Bermo

The Strength of the United States of America, aside from it's belief in individual liberty, has been the fact that it is a voluntary union of individual and competing states, and it's Federal government was one of very limited concerns, basically military and to ensure free trade of people and goods between states. The fact that most people speak English was a critical factor in this (not that I advocate it's imposition).

A confederation, is, in my opinion, the best form of government because it allows the most freedom.

A good example is the Swiss confederation a country with an extraordinary high standard of living.

I contend the people of Switzerland understand liberty very well. They are consistently ranked one of the highest in economic freedom. They have the highest gun ownership per capita. They have a tradition of Neutrality and not participating in entangling alliances. They have a militia instead of a traditional standing army. A strong tradition of direct democracy.

Every single one of those things are strongly libertarian. But Most of all, is Switzerland's refusal to Join the EU.

If the EU were itself a confederation, I would advocate it. But it's not. In fact, aspects of it such as the EU commission (which is the only body allowed to propose laws) are not even elected.

So we should start creating political unions based on how many medals we can get at the olympics now? Why don't we just go all the way and create a world state then we get to win all the golds?

It's a flawed table anyway because the countries inside the EU get to compete separately and can have loads of people competing in the one event so it's no surprise their medal count is the biggest. I'm sure if the United States could have athletes competing from each state they would do quite well too.

A common suggestion but null and void seeing as absolutely every law proposed by the Commission is subjected to a vote by the elected parliament.. Simple as.

And as we speak, the elected parliament gains more and more power over the non elected leadership.. this is the problem with most people's views on the matter.. they see how it was previous to the Lisbon treaty and think it will mirror this forever.. However, it has already changed and will continue to do so. Within two decades, the democratic process will used to elect every powerful position as their positions gain actual power.

Yes the EU is in no way perfect and will always have difficulties but people will always have an argument with me on the matter if they utilize small minded ideologies, overly conservative thinking, a lack of decent information and even just plain idiocy/jealousy in their arguments.

As I said, I'm not a major fan of the EU and am a regular critic of policy but its hard to take most anti-EU people seriously on this site.

*Most are overly nationalist Brits.. Mainly English people.

*The rest are Americans who are worried about their waning empire and the rise of massive competition over the next decade.

What I am though, is a massive supporter of "Europe" and what it is becoming.

I'm an American.

As a classical liberal, how could I not love and have immense respect for what Britain is? John Locke, Natural Rights and social contract theory, is the very basis of Americanism. Adam Smith, Ricardo, and the rest of the Economists/Moral Philosophers during the Scottish enlightenment, were some of the very first advocates of free trade and free markets. Hume, along with Locke, started empiricism and the triumph of reason. Jefferson said his holy trinity was Bacon, Locke, and Newton.

Earlier, of course, you had the English bill of rights, and the Magna Carta. American Liberty is really a continuation of English Liberty, our country just happened to be born at a moment where the ideas of liberty were to reach their apex in world history. As such, it is in our country's DNA.

I love Britain. I also recognize the contributions and love the rest of Europe has made. I'm afraid that by doing this, every country in Europe will lose what made them special, that they will cease to compete and feel proud of their cultures and traditions.

And yes, I feel the same about the U.S, but as I said, our culture and traditions are essentially English ones born at the apex of English Liberty. Our country is also very young in comparison to the European ones.

I believe in the west. I also believe in India, because they're the largest democracy in the world. What I fear is China.

It's a simple question that I'm sure everyone wants to know, who are you Mr President? You are paid more than Obama and have tremendous power over Europe yet we have no idea who you are.

aaaah democracy

You like this? this man is insulting him for no reason, he is an asshole and you think this is good?

Okay maybe he doesn't have charisma like Obama or what ever but that is exactly why is was chosen for the job. Charisme != leadership.

The leader of the EU must always search for compris and a charismatic person would tend to lean twords his own opinions. This is what Europe is about! Its about working toghetter for an idea and trying to come to a consesus. What this man doesn is stupid and hypocrtical, the man gets paid like a fat swine.

And you have no idea what so ever about how we run things.

What the hell do you actually know? you see this video without any spick of knowledge of what preceded. You judge your opinions on a mindless rant of hypocrit politician, obviously trying to destroy someone because they didn't get the possition!

When Van Rompuy was a candidate for the presidentship the UK made a documentary specially to discredit him and to give him a bad image, thats why more then half of the UK isn't for him because they don't know him.

This is my perspective, from a European standpoint, the UK would like to take leadership of Europe because they think they are the best for the job. I mean would you have rather had a Gordon Brown as a president? that would mean instant war and military expansion.

THINK! don't just goble up what video you see. GOSH!

That was a pretty good rant.

I always enjoy when someone says **** it, I going at it.

S@F for a good rant.

theres plenty of that sort of thing on their youtube channel....check it out...

anyone or any group that trample over people deserve nothing other than ridicule...and mr farage does this very well indeed...he said in an interview i heard that when the dutch people said no to the lisbon treaty he had a party in the European Parliament bar...and when some german who was all for the lisbon treaty came in he sarcastically invited him for a drink..saying its a great day for democracy and liberty in europe...lets celebrate..he said the german MEP came over and simply said...'we have more than one way to achieve our goals'...seems the german was right....sadly...mr farage also said many of his colleagues in the EP are dreadful people....

If you watch the video link the op posted you can see that socialist rat-face of a man (German) start crying about how Farage attacked the president.
Basically, cognative sums it up nicely.
If you want the EU in charge of your life and to regulate it you're pro-EU, if you want the country to be more for the citizen then you're nationalist, whether you like it or not.
