The chances of Copenhagen failing, 90%!

news.yahoo.com

Envoys from China, the U.S., the European Union and India, the world’s top polluters, have bickered, quarreled and walked out during talks among 193 nations. They’ve left presidents and prime ministers a choice between a fudge or a flop for the accord that the United Nations framed as the most comprehensive deal to curb global warming.

“Countries and blocks of countries have come here with very hard positions,” Guyana’s President Bharrat Jagdeo said yesterday in an interview in Copenhagen.

I hope this fails or we could be looking at an Authoritarian Dictatorship that would become the UN and would take over the US. I am all for redistribution of wealth but not from rich countries to poor countries that is Socialism turned radical. Signing Copenhagen would be like signing the Warsaw Pact.

It would make my New Year for that bunch of War Pigs to fail at pushing their garbage plan through! They only mean to use the false premise of man made global warming as an excuse to make more laws, make more taxes, and bring us closer to a world wide fascist corporatist state! The harder they fail, the happier my New Year!

It's the Fascist left-wingers that are pushing that false premise of global baloney stuff. And many of those Fascist lefties do control some big corporations.

If you understood Political Science and Philosophy you would understand that Fascism is the exact opposite of Communism/Socialism. Now with that said they do share common beliefs such as large government and control but for whom the control helps is the major difference. Fascists support corporations and do or die beliefe. Communists/Socialists support Labor Unions and oppose corporations they also oppose the beliefe of do or die.

Off course it is going to fail, unless the those richer countries get thierownway, it is an absolute farce to say the least. Now it has been reported activists whom were invited to the conference, thier passes have been revoked. Absolutely disgusting.

As for the Police, there definately needs to be a review, to thier tactics. But of course it will be a whitewsh.

This conference was doomed to be a failure from the beginning.

Good, I'm an environmentalist but I really want this to fail. I do not trust the globalists to help the environment at all. Carbon trading is about wealth re-distribution, not saving the environment and the wealth isn't even going to go to the poor. It will all get eaten up by bureaucracy, lawyers and anyone else with enough resources to make money off the system. Do what you can to save the environment as an individual, every little bit helps and saving the environment is not limited to carbon reductions.

No the only baloney is when people talk about lefties and righties.

Political science is based on theory and while I have studied it I disagree with what is currently taught in schools. It's too simplistic to say facism is the exact opposite of communism. I have always thought of the political spectrum as being circular rather than a straight line. If you go far enough to the left or right you will end up in the same place - totalitarianism with the government in control of production. The government did largely control production using favored corperations in both German national socialism and Italian facism but to a lesser extent in the latter.

Mussolini was a Communist and then became a Fascist. Hitler was a Socialist.
Corporations are the offspring of democracy and cannot exist without democracy unless they are taken over by the state. And if controlled by the state then they are entities of communism and socialism. Those are the worst kind of corporations and are the ones that have soiled the name of all corporations.

While you are mostly correct when you say the political spectrum is circular, the fundamental concepts that seperate the ideologies is quite different while they share the majority of the same beliefs like Islam and Christianity, the two religions have alot in common but clash on what makes them different. Along with the thought of a circular political spectrum where would centrism fit for instance? Could there be two Centrisms one at 90* and the other at 270*?

Ok perhaps of horse shoe shape then. There are too many similarities between the far left and far right to have them at opposing ends of the spectrum. When I was younger I remember thinking the best way to be anti-facist was to be far left but soon I realised that the methods of both were too similar and I was becoming what I despised from a certain point of view. Hatred and the absolute belief that you are righteous and the enemy is evil is the path of the extremist and opposing extremists often have more in common than they realise. The same is true of religion as you have pointed out.

I would be very pleased to see this fail. The enviroment is important to everyone and should be taken into account of any buisnesses practises. However cap and trade is pure garbage. It doesn't work and provides no benefit to the enviroment. If the enviroment was the concern here the talks would be about a massive worldwide R &D campaign into revamping our energy sectors and finding low impact alternatives to coal and the like. If it was truly important the summit would have focused on the pollution of waterways and ground water, the massive rates of deforestation and the garbage circle the size of texas in the pacific. Instead we get a bunch of gibbering over whether or not we as a species are poisoning the planet by breathing and driving automobiles.

The summit should fail and brutally hard. The future depends on everyones individual efforts as well as a sefless attitude toward harmonizing our way of life with the enviroment we live in. If all they want to do is tax us and provide credits so corporations can pay penance for polluting then they deserve to come away with nothing. Greed and materialism will not avail us. Voltaires bastards indeed.

Oh, you'll get an agreement.

Africa will be effectively carved up after the conference, after walking out of talks. China was not best pleased - judging by state media and the European Union is angry with the American position.

From my understanding; the European Union, China and India will carry out some of the requirements of the draft treaty. Most logical conclusion is this coalition will trade green technology amongst themselves. The rest will have to pay extortionate rate to participate or share the technology.

don't be so high and mighty, it is a legitimate view to class fascists and communists in the same end of the political spectrum- obviously there are differences but they are not the "EXACT OPPOSITE"- the exact opposite of communism would be traditional conservatism/libertarians

What I am expecting is that the group which promotes itself as the 'global' community will attempt to market a faux-consensus and foist their agenda on everyone else regardless of the fact that there was precious little in the meeting that represented 'democratic' reform of the polluters and the polluted.

Any rational person could have told them that this was not going to work the way the 'Hollywood/Madison Avenue' types scripted it.

And the irony is WE paid for their "vacation".... and will continue to do so.

Just goes to show you to not get worked up about silly things that might not even happen. Even if it works out better then expected the US wont sign a real deal until next year sometime. 'one more year of freedom' -- I'm actually not worried about it --
The NWO is just a bunch of scare tactics
Its not really there
